Asian Journal of Applied Education (AJAE) is a scholarly, peer-reviewed journal published by Formosa Publisher that provides a platform for unpublished articles on contemporary educational issues. Abstract

This research discusses the metaphors used in poems Setitis Air Mata, Seulas Senyum by Kahlil Gibran. The type of research used in this study is qualitative descriptive research. The results show the use of metaphors in the collection of poems Setitis Air Mata, Seulas Senyum by Kahlil Gibran there are 12 findings. Anthropomorphic metaphors were found as many as 3 findings, animal metaphors were found as many as 3 findings, metaphors from concrete to abstract were found 3 findings, and anesthesia metaphors were found as many as 3 findings. Through this poem students can use this novel as a learning medium and this research can be used as additional material for teachers to provide learning understanding, especially in metaphorical materials.

Abstract

Implementing the Independent Curriculum in schools presents challenges in creating an inclusive environment and accepting cultural diversity. One solution to overcome these challenges is through the application of cross-cultural counseling which can act as a catalyst for inclusivity. Cross-cultural counseling helps students understand, appreciate and respond to cultural differences in a positive way, thereby creating a harmonious school atmosphere and supporting their academic and social development. This research aims to explore the role of cross-cultural counseling in building multicultural awareness and its impact on student learning outcomes and behavior at school. The research method used was a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, where interviews were conducted with Counseling Guidance Teachers (BK) from MAN 1 and MAN 2 Banyumas. The research results show that cross-cultural counseling has a significant influence in increasing students' cultural awareness and encouraging them to appreciate diversity more. In addition, school counselors play a role in resolving intercultural conflicts, integrating inclusive values ​​in school programs, and providing academic assistance that is sensitive to students' culture. Evaluations of the impact of cross-cultural counseling have also shown improvements in learning outcomes, student engagement, and reductions in negative behaviors related to cultural differences. Overall, this research concludes that cross-cultural counseling plays an important role in supporting the implementation of the Independent Curriculum and creating an inclusive school environment.

Abstract

Mandarin, as the Chinese language, has attracted billions of people to use it as a communication tool in written and spoken forms at the international level. China has afforded various strategies to foster the development of the language worldwide. This study aimed to investigate the management strategies applied by the Chinese Government and the challenges encountered while promoting Mandarin as a global language. Employing qualitative study with library research as the approach, the researcher collected data from various credible sources to measure the quality of the findings. Content analysis was conducted deductively based on the existing data, in which the researcher commenced categorizing the relevant resources and finalized the findings by interpreting and concluding them. The result showed that the Chinese Government employs three primary management strategies to globalize the language: Promoting the Mandarin language through education, cultural exchange, and global trading. Some challenges were also identified, such as linguistic barriers, political and diplomatic challenges, and limited integration in educational systems.

Abstract

The rapid development of technology in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 has affected various fields, including the field of education. One of the innovations that has emerged is the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in biology learning. This study aims to analyze research trends related to the use of AI in biology learning with a bibliometric analysis method on 68 articles from  the Scopus database. This study identifies publication patterns, research contributions, and methods used. The results of the study show that the use of AI can improve students' understanding of complex biological concepts and improve students' learning experience. In addition, AI plays an important role in assisting teachers in evaluating and assessing learning outcomes. This research provides up-to-date insights into the potential of AI in biology learning and emphasizes the importance of following technology trends to improve the quality of education.

Abstract

The research investigated factors influencing the academic performance of Bachelor of Science in Customs Administration (BSCA) students at Gordon College. One hundred twenty 2nd - 4th year students participated in a descriptive survey using questionnaires. Analysis methods included weighted mean, and structural equation modeling. Results highlighted that academic performance clustered around grades 85-89, indicating solid achievement. Influential factors included personal conditions, study habits, and home and school environments, with study habits notably critical. Lecturer and technological factors had minimal impact. Overall, the study underscored a positive academic setting and substantial student achievement.

Abstract

This study looks at the public's perception of the quality of services at the Sentosa Baru Medan Health Center based on the concept of Bimo Walgito's perception and Parasuraman's service quality. Service quality is measured through five main dimensions. The research method used a quantitative survey with a Likert scale questionnaire and descriptive analysis. The results of the study show that in the Responsiveness dimension, indicators related to accuracy and speed of service still receive many negative responses. As many as 33% of respondents strongly disagree with the speed of service, while 35% disagree with the timeliness of service. Overall, the public's perception of service responsiveness still needs to be improved to match their expectations.
