Abstract

The Great Roundabout in Palangka Raya City is a significant symbol in Central Kalimantan Province, serving as a traffic intersection and a public space that supports social interaction. With the growing population and number of vehicles, various problems have emerged, such as congestion, accidents, and a lack of pedestrian comfort. This study aims to analyze the influence of infrastructure facilities on the safety and comfort of road users at the Great Roundabout. Using a literature review approach, this study identified 27 variables related to infrastructure, safety, and comfort. Factors affecting comfort are divided into two categories: internal factors, which include attitudes, awareness, and driving experience, and external factors, which include road conditions, the presence of other vehicles, and traffic management. The results of the analysis show that infrastructure, such as pedestrian bridges, wider sidewalks, and green open spaces, has a significant impact on improving the safety and comfort of road users. It is hoped that this study can provide deeper insights into the relationship between infrastructure facilities and road user experiences, and serve as a basis for the development of better policies in the planning and management of road infrastructure in urban areas, especially in Palangka Raya City.

Abstract

Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) is a naturally useful and cost-effective elective for virgin black-top assets for asphalt development. This ponder explores how morphological parameters such as discuss voids, rejuvenator dissemination, and film thickness influence the adequacy of RAP blends. Waste Engine Oil (WEO) was tried as a rejuvenator in shifted amounts (3%, 6%, 9%, and 12%) to recuperate the viscoelastic qualities of ancient black-top cover. The rheological and physical characteristics of RAP and virgin folios were inspected to decide the adequacy of rejuvenators. The discoveries appear that the reasonable application of rejuvenators may enormously make strides in the life span and mechanical execution of RAP blends, making them a reasonable choice for maintainable asphalt development.

Abstract

This paper assesses the reliability of reinforced concrete beams incorporating IOT as a partial replacement for fine aggregates. An equation for the moment resistance capacity of IOT concrete beams was developed as well as the performance functions for the beam in flexure and shear conditions, providing a basis for evaluating structural performance under flexural loads. Reliability analysis was conducted using First Order Reliability Method to evaluate the safety indices of IOT concrete beam under flexure and shear conditions, based on stochastic modeling of load, material properties, and beam dimensions. Results showed that the reliability index (β) decreases with an increase in the load ratio, indicating higher failure risks under heavier loads. Sensitivity analysis also revealed that beam depth significantly influences reliability more than its length. The findings of the study can be used by engineers to optimize structural designs thus enhancing safety while addressing environmental concerns.

Abstract

Kadilangu is one of the famous religious tourism destinations in Demak, Central Java. This high number of visitors leads to the need for adequate supporting facilities, including adequate parking areas. With the increase in the number of visitors, the problem of limited parking space began to become a major concern. This condition often causes traffic congestion, visitor inconvenience, and a decrease in the quality of the tourist experience. The design methodology is a series or frame of mind in the parking lot design process, the data analysis method is used to plan by utilizing knowledge and analyzing the behavior of the subjects involved. Generally, the data obtained through this method is in the form of interviews or questionnaires, so the results produced are more often in the form of numbers. Based on the data analysis carried out, it can be known the available static capacity and the need for parking space. If the need for parking space is greater than the available capacity, it means that the number of available parking spaces is not enough. On the other hand, if the need for parking space is smaller than the available capacity, it means that the number of available parking spaces is still able to accommodate vehicles that will be parked. From the results of the analysis, it was found that the parking space of Kadilangu Demak was able to meet the demand for the required parking space, with the note that the maximum number of parked vehicles was still below the value of the available static capacity.

Abstract

This research explores the viability of gastropod shell particulate (GSP), a calcium carbonate abundant residual from ocean refuse, as an ecologically responsible fractional substitute for cement in concrete. Ordinary Portland cement, a fundamental component in building, significantly impacts worldwide carbon dioxide release, highlighting the urgent need for eco-friendly alternatives. Finely ground gastropod shells possess cementitious properties due to their high calcium content, making them a promising supplementary cementitious material (SCM). Experimental evaluations were conducted by replacement of binder with GSP in different proportions (5, 10, 15, and 20% by weight) in concrete mixes. The study assessed the fresh and hardened properties of the modified concrete, including workability, compression strength, split tension strength, bending strength, and microstructural analysis through SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy). Results revealed that a 15% replacement of cement with GSP achieved strength and durability comparable to conventional concrete while significantly reducing cement consumption and the associated carbon footprint. SEM analysis highlighted a denser, more cohesive microstructure in the 15% GSP concrete, with reduced voids and microcracks compared to the control sample, indicating improved matrix integrity. These findings establish the feasibility of GSP as a sustainable construction material, promoting the valorisation of marine waste while reducing environmental impact. This approach aligns with green construction practices and aids in fostering ecological progress within the building sector.

Abstract

Fenders in dock buildings are damage prevention when ships dock at the dock. The fender design must be appropriate so that it can absorb impact energy. The amount of energy absorbed and the maximum force transmitted to the dock structure are used to determine the type and size of the fender. At Benoa Pier Bali where long cruise ships are anchored, a larger fender design is required. There are various methods for determining fender design, one of which uses British Standard 6349-2014 part 4: Code of practice for design of fendering and mooring systems. PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia as a port operator in Indonesia has historically used various fender design methods. The use of British Standard 6349 - 2014 has various advantages in designing a fender, where various factors influence the selection of fenders such as wave conditions, currents, wind, ship size, speed and direction of the ship when anchored at the dock. The SSCnF Cone 1100 + Frontal Frame fender is used according to the calculation results using BS 6349 - 2014.

Abstract

Accurate reservoir inflow prediction is vital for effective water resource management in regions like the Upper Indus Basin (UIB), characterized by complex hydrological dynamics and increasing climate variability. This study evaluates the performance of Random Forest and KNN algorithms in predicting inflows for the Tarbela Dam, a critical infrastructure in Pakistan. Using historical data on precipitation, temperature, and inflow, the analysis reveals that Random Forest consistently outperforms KNN by capturing the variability and non-linear relationships inherent in UIB's hydrology. Random Forest demonstrated superior accuracy in tracking peaks and troughs, whereas KNN smoothed fluctuations, resulting in underestimations and overestimations, particularly during periods of high inflow. Evaluation metrics, including R², MAE, RMSE, and MBE, confirmed Random Forest's better predictive capabilities, while box plot analysis highlighted its effectiveness in capturing variability and extreme events in inflow data compared to KNN. These results emphasize the importance of accurate inflow predictions for reservoir operation, flood control, and drought mitigation.
