Abstract

Every day waste production is increasing along with the increase in the number of products and people's consumption patterns. As a consequence, the waste problem becomes neglected, as waste management is difficult for the community to control. Maintaining the cleanliness of the living environment is very important by managing waste through the use of existing facilities to reduce the accumulation of waste, especially household waste. For this reason, Community Service activities are held with the aim of providing education as well as building public awareness of the importance of managing waste. As a form of implementation of one of the Tri Dharmas of Higher Education. The method used is counseling about waste as well as education about how to manage waste by utilizing existing facilities and also simulating waste sorting by participants. As a result of implementing this PKM activity, the community can implement good and correct waste management in their daily lives and can take advantage of existing waste management facilities around where the community lives.

Abstract

Breastfeeding is one of the best investments for survival and improving health, socio-economic development of individuals and nations. This coverage cannot be separated from problems that occur during the breastfeeding process, including the false belief that little milk comes out or that breast milk is not sufficient for the baby's needs. This situation is caused by several factors, including the mother's psychological condition, abnormal breast shape, baby sucking, which can affect breast milk production. Various studies have been carried out to facilitate breast milk production, including the Oxytocin Massage method, Marmet Technique, Rolling Massage (back), Endorphin massage, Breast Care, but due to limited information in health services regarding implementation procedures, these methods are only known but rarely given by health workers as care givers to patients. The service is carried out with the aim of providing knowledge to mothers and the community about Endorphine Massage in Increasing Breast Milk Production. The method used in community service begins with giving a pre-test, delivering material, evaluating with a post-test and practice. The target audience is pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers at the Bantimurung Community Health Center. The result of this community service was that 71.4% of participants' knowledge increased about Endorphine Massage in Increasing Breast Milk Production. This was proven by the enthusiasm of the participants who actively asked questions, discussed and shared breastfeeding experiences. After this activity takes place, there needs to be follow-up from the participants to apply the counseling that has been given.

Abstract

Cough and cold symptoms are indicative of respiratory system disturbances that commonly affect toddlers (1-5 years old). Respiratory disorders, or Acute Respiratory Infections (ARIs), are a leading cause of mortality in children. The disease can quickly spread to others through droplets, and its transmission is particularly rapid during the current rainy season due to the weakened immune systems of toddlers. However, parents often perceive coughs and colds as common occurrences, leading them to neglect providing treatment to their children. This becomes problematic when children experience respiratory distress, prompting confusion among parents who then rush their children to the hospital. The community engagement activities involve interactive lectures and training sessions, including role-playing with phantom children, for 15 mothers with toddlers. The activities are conducted over a period of two weeks in Alalak Island RT 3. The mothers' knowledge is assessed before and after the sessions through questionnaires. To evaluate the effectiveness of the common cold massage technique, observations are made following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The results of the community engagement show an improvement in knowledge levels before and after health education. Regarding the common cold massage technique, a small percentage can perform the procedure directly, while the majority can follow the SOPs using phantom children. It is hoped that the increased knowledge and skills of mothers will enable them to promptly address cough and cold symptoms in their children.

Abstract

The third trimester of pregnancy starts at 28 weeks to 40 weeks of gestation. Pregnant women tend to look worried at this gestational age, perhaps feeling the discomfort experienced by pregnant women in the third trimester, this discomfort can affect labor and the postpartum period. In the second pillar of safe motherhood, it is stated that antenatal care is a means for pregnant women to prepare for the birthing process. Maternal unpreparedness for childbirth is one of the causes of the high maternal mortality rate. If during pregnancy there are obstetric complications and the mother does not know what preparations are needed before giving birth, then the mother will not receive appropriate and timely services. This activity aims to provide education regarding preparation for childbirth in the hope that pregnant women can know in advance the preparations for childbirth. In this activity, pre and posttests were carried out using a questionnaire to measure the knowledge of pregnant women and provide education using the counseling method. This activity was carried out at the Kalumpang Community Health Center. The results obtained from this activity were that the knowledge of pregnant women after counseling changed to good at 86.5% from previous knowledge which was adequate at 55.2%. This is because pregnant women receive additional information regarding preparation for childbirth through counseling. From this activity, it is hoped that all pregnant women will be active in using Maternal and Child Health books, not only keeping them but reading and studying them for maternal knowledge.
