Abstract

Diabetic foot exercises can be given to all DM patients with Type I or Type II and it is best to provide this therapy since the patient is diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus as a measure to prevent complications as early as possible due to Diabetes Mellitus. Foot exercises can help improve blood circulation, strengthen the small muscles of the feet, and prevent foot deformities in people with Type II Diabetes Mellitus. Blood flow to the feet will help stimulate the nerves of the feet in receiving stimulation, this will increase the sensitivity of the feet in receiving stimulation. Apart from that, if you don't do leg exercises it can result in narrowed or blocked blood vessels, this can cause ineffective peripheral perfusion. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to provide foot exercises to people with Type II Diabetes Mellitus, because doing foot exercises can prevent ineffective peripheral perfusion. The method used was socialization about foot exercises for diabetes mellitus sufferers with the result that the community was enthusiastic about the implementation of foot exercises in the outer terrace village area of Tabunganen sub-district. The conclusion was that the majority of people were able to carry out foot exercises independently.

Abstract

In the nursing field, personal hygiene is considered one of the basic human needs. Personal hygiene refers to individual cleanliness and health practices aimed at preventing the spread of diseases to oneself and others. Hygiene is important because maintaining good personal hygiene minimizes the entry points (portals of entry) for microorganisms that are present everywhere, ultimately preventing individuals from falling. Poor personal hygiene, on the other hand, increases the likelihood of contracting various diseases, such as scabies, infectious diseases, oral and dental diseases, and gastrointestinal illnesses. It can even impact the function of specific body parts, such as the skin. The method used was a demonstration of the six steps of proper handwashing to elementary school students in the Tabunganen sub-district. The results showed that the majority of students were able to wash their hands correctly after the demonstration. It can be concluded that all students were enthusiastic about learning the proper handwashing technique and were able to apply it correctly and effectively. In conclusion, personal hygiene is crucial in preventing the spread of diseases, and maintaining good personal hygiene practices is essential. The study demonstrated the effectiveness of a handwashing demonstration in teaching elementary school students in the Tabunganen sub-district the proper and correct handwashing technique. The findings highlight the students' enthusiasm to learn and their ability to apply the knowledge effectively.

Abstract

Postpartum marks the initiation of lactation, and ideally, newborns should be able to breastfeed from their mothers. Postpartum encompasses the period from 2 hours after the delivery of the placenta up to six weeks thereafter. During this duration, mothers undergo numerous changes, both physically and mentally. A common issue that arises during the postpartum period is the irregularity of breast milk supply. The objective of this community service initiative is to provide Back Massage Rolling to postpartum mothers. The method employed involves demonstrating the rolling massage technique to mothers with infants, aiming to facilitate smoother milk production, especially in the rural communities on the outskirts of the Tabunganen sub-district. The approach includes hands-on demonstrations for mothers with infants, teaching them the rolling massage technique to enhance daily breastfeeding experiences. The conclusion drawn is that a significant portion of the community, particularly mothers with infants, can accurately and effectively demonstrate the application of rolling massage in their daily routines.

Abstract

Cough and cold symptoms are indicative of respiratory system disturbances that commonly affect toddlers (1-5 years old). Respiratory disorders, or Acute Respiratory Infections (ARIs), are a leading cause of mortality in children. The disease can quickly spread to others through droplets, and its transmission is particularly rapid during the current rainy season due to the weakened immune systems of toddlers. However, parents often perceive coughs and colds as common occurrences, leading them to neglect providing treatment to their children. This becomes problematic when children experience respiratory distress, prompting confusion among parents who then rush their children to the hospital. The community engagement activities involve interactive lectures and training sessions, including role-playing with phantom children, for 15 mothers with toddlers. The activities are conducted over a period of two weeks in Alalak Island RT 3. The mothers' knowledge is assessed before and after the sessions through questionnaires. To evaluate the effectiveness of the common cold massage technique, observations are made following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The results of the community engagement show an improvement in knowledge levels before and after health education. Regarding the common cold massage technique, a small percentage can perform the procedure directly, while the majority can follow the SOPs using phantom children. It is hoped that the increased knowledge and skills of mothers will enable them to promptly address cough and cold symptoms in their children.

Abstract

Complaints of nephrolithiasis in each patient depend on the position or location of the stone, size of the stone, and resulting complications. Common complaints include flank pain, back pain, hematuria (blood in the urine), stone obstruction leading to urinary flow blockage and urinary tract contamination, fever, chills, and feelings of anxiety. However, pain is a common and frequently experienced symptom in every nephrolithiasis patient. Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional sensation associated with tissue damage or other factors, causing individuals to feel distressed and suffer, thereby disrupting daily activities, psychological well-being, and more. Acute pain is a sensory or emotional experience related to actual or potential tissue damage, with a sudden or gradual onset and an intensity ranging from mild to severe, lasting less than 3 months. Various non-pharmacological methods, including progressive muscle relaxation techniques, can help reduce pain.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a non-communicable metabolic disorder that affects millions of people worldwide. It is associated with several micro and macrovascular complications and is also a leading cause of death. Type II Diabetes Mellitus cannot be cured but can be managed by adhering to the four pillars of Type II DM management, which include health education, meal planning or diet, regular physical exercise, and regular medication intake (Meirani, 2018). Individuals with Type II Diabetes Mellitus are often associated with obesity or an unhealthy lifestyle, as well as a lack of physical activity. The lack of physical activity or exercise is associated with an increased risk of hyperglycemia, and physical exercise becomes a useful strategy to help maintain blood sugar within the normal range. One type of physical exercise that can be done is leg exercises, as it can help regulate normal metabolism in the body and burn excess calories (Hasdianah, 2018).

Abstract

Childbirth is a normal physiological event experienced by every woman, characterized by uterine contractions and the delivery of a full-term baby (37-42 weeks) through the vagina, resulting from the fertilization of the egg inside the uterus, either through the birth canal or through other means such as a cesarean section. Childbirth is a natural process that involves the dilation of the cervix, the birth of the baby and placenta from the mother's uterus. There are four stages of childbirth: dilation, delivery of the baby, delivery of the placenta, and finally, the recovery and postpartum observation. There are two types of childbirth: vaginal delivery (also known as normal delivery) where the baby is delivered through the vagina, and cesarean section (C-section) which is a surgical procedure where the baby is delivered through an incision in the abdominal wall (laparotomy) and the uterus, with the condition that the uterus is intact and the fetal weight is over 500 grams. Childbirth is a physiological process that can cause significant changes in the mother's body, allowing the baby to be born through a normal vaginal delivery or a C-section.

Abstract

Family support plays an important role in improving patient compliance with wound care following debridement surgery. Patients who receive emotional support, information, and practical assistance from their families tend to adhere more closely to medical instructions, such as maintaining wound hygiene, changing dressings on schedule, and following healthcare providers’ recommendations. Factors such as attention, motivation, and active family involvement in the care process can enhance the patient’s comfort and confidence during recovery.

Abstract

Kidney stone remains one of the most common health problems in urology worldwide, including in Indonesia. Patients with kidney stones have hard, crystalline masses along the urinary tract, causing pain. Progressive muscle relaxation and deep breathing techniques are aimed at reducing muscle tension and anxiety to prevent an increase in pain stimuli, serving as one of the methods for managing acute pain. The purpose of this study was to determine whether progressive muscle relaxation can reduce pain in patients with right kidney stones. This research utilized a case study approach with nursing care intervention. The Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) was used to measure pain. The study included patients with kidney failure. Assessment, diagnosis, treatment, implementation, and evaluation were all part of the collected data. The intervention performed was progressive muscle relaxation therapy conducted three times a day on Tuesday. The research findings indicated that progressive muscle relaxation mediated a decrease in patient discomfort scale, with the outcomes including reduced expressions of pain, anxiety, difficulty resting, and groaning, shifting from moderate to mild. Patients no longer complained of pain and showed a decrease in pain.
