Abstract

Writing is the most difficult productive skill to master when studying English. To assist students in improving their writing, teachers should be aware of their students' issues. The goal of the study was to highlight the issues that students at vocational schools have when producing analytical exposition texts. A case study with a qualitative design was used in this investigation. To take part in the study, a total of 25 eleventh graders from a vocational school in South Sumatra, Indonesia, were hand-selected. Data for this study were gathered using a closed-opened questionnaire and a writing exam. To assess the data from the writing exam and closed-ended questionnaire, this study used coding, category development, category description, and data interpretation based on Merriam's (2009) theories. They follow the same procedures as the thematic analysis. The findings revealed that, on average, 33.7% of students at vocational institutions found it challenging to create analytical exposition writings. The vocational school's students struggled with vocabulary, organization, mechanics, language use, and content. Their reading habits, low motivation, and low self-esteem regarding their writing abilities were other contributing factors to their writing problems. This discovery should contribute to addressing such issues by providing an efficient method that aids students in producing their analytical exposition texts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the characteristics of the body mass index of soccer athletes. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method. Sampling in this study used a total sampling technique so that the entire population was taken as a sample of 20 people. The instrument used for data collection uses the Body Mass Index (BMI) instrument. Benchmark Reference Assessment (PAP) based on Body Mass Index (BMI) criteria became the basis for analyzing the data and then analyzing it with the help of Ms. Excel. The results showed that the body mass index (BMI) of Football Academy talent football athletes showed an average score of Normal BMI, but there were two athletes who were in BMI with the criteria of being overweight 5%, the total percentage of BMI obesity was 10%, normal BMI was 50% , and 35% lean BMI. The conclusion from this study is that the athletes at Talenta Football Academy have problems with their body mass index, this is because 50% of the athletes have an abnormal body mass index classification, this is feared to hinder Talenta Football Academy's overall performance. The researcher advises the management of Talenta Football Academy to be able to pay attention to the nutritional status of each athlete and to be able to make food programs for athletes and to evaluate their nutritional status every month by measuring their body mass index.

Abstract

A leadership model for school principals that is oriented towards professional performance can enhance the quality of education and requires support from high-quality human resources. The development of human resources is a process of enhancing individuals' abilities to compete in the current era of technological advancements, known as the Industry 4.0, in order to improve the quality of education. Leadership models come in various styles, and one of them is the ACL (Action Centered Leadership) style. In this research, a qualitative approach with weighting was used. Data was collected through observation, documentation, and questionnaires. The data analysis in this study involved analyzing the development of a school principal leadership model using the ACL leadership style. The indicators included discipline, teamwork ability, collaborative cooperation, and adaptability in communication. The role of school leadership is crucial in communicating the organizational performance needs of the school and implementing the predetermined school principal's work programs. Effective leadership by school principals is essential in organizing and leading educational institutions.

Abstract

Computing thinking is a specialized skill related to computer science. However, nowadays almost everyone is expected to have basic computing skills that are in line with current technological developments. This research aims to develop an instrument for computational thinking skills in physics education at a university level. The Computational Thinking Instrument was designed to include items related to decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithms. The development of the instrument resulted in 14 valid items. The sample for this study consisted of 104 students majoring in physics education at the Department of Physics Education, UIN Walisongo Semarang, Indonesia. The instrument used in this research employed a modified Likert scale. The validity of the instrument was assessed using content validity and construct validity. Content validity was measured using Aiken's index, while construct validity was assessed using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA). The reliability estimation using the Cronbach Alpha formula yielded a value of 0.94, indicating that the assessment instrument for students' computational thinking skills in physics education is reliable. The results of the rotated component matrix revealed that the 14 developed items could be divided into only 2 factor.

Abstract

Disaster education is a mandatory effort to deal with unexpected natural disasters. Disaster education trains knowledge, attitudes, and skills in dealing with disasters, one of which can be done through formal education, starting from early childhood to tertiary education. This writing aims to analyze the model of implementing disaster education through formal education, starting from early childhood education, elementary school, and middle school, to university. This article systematically uses the type of literature review writing by reviewing as many as 53 articles in Scopus-indexed journals and proceedings. The research results show different disaster education models at each level. The early childhood education level is taught with fun learning activities inside and outside the classroom, telling stories, and through websites. Elementary school level is carried out by camping, disaster drills, integrated with learning and local wisdom, implementing programs in schools, and optimizing smartphone functions. The secondary school level is conducted by conducting preparedness exercises, optimizing smartphones, applying specific learning methods, and integrating them with subjects. As for the tertiary level, this can be done by being involved in management, in natural disaster areas, and making disaster education a compulsory subject.
