Abstract

This research is to fine (1) visual elements, composition, and expression style on children’s drawing in coastal, urban, and mountainous environment in Semarang, (2) representation the sub environment in the children’s drawing in Semarang. Qualitative approach (multi case study) is used in this research. There are two content of the results. First, visual elements, composition, and expression style on children’s drawing in coastal, urban, and mountainous environment in Semarang show each characteristics. Second, attitude, behavior, and values in the coastal, urban, mountain environment not only were drawn explicitly, but also implicitly, that is indicated by the selection of shapes, use of color, organization, and style of the picture. It can be concluded that the expression of the children’s drawing shows "the cultural expressions diversity". Keywords: children, drawing, environment, visual expression.Penelitian ini mengungkap: (1) unsur visual, struktur, dan corak ekspresi gambar anak di wilayah pesisir, perkotaan dan pegunungan di Semarang, (2) representasi lingkungan pesisir, perkotaan, dan pegunungan yang berada di balik wujud gambar anak di Semarang. Pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain multikasus digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu sebagai berikut. Pertama, unsur visual, corak ungkapan, dan struktur ekspresi gambar anak di wilayah pesisir, perkotaan dan pegunungan di Semarang menunjukkan kreativitas masing-masing. Kedua, sikap, perilaku, dan nilai-nilai di lingkungan pesisir, perkotaan, dan pegunungan tidak semata-mata digambar secara eksplisit, namun secara implisit ditunjukkan dengan pemilihan bentuk, penggunaan warna, pengorganisasian, dan corak gambarnya. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekspresi gambar anak pesisir, perkotaan, dan pegunungan di Semarang menunjukkan “keberagaman ekspresi budaya”.

Abstract

The art of Buraq is a procession of puppet which has beautiful female face with winged-horse body and dance to the music of Genjring and tambourine. This traditional art is one of the dominant arts that becomes one cultural identity of the people in Brebes District, located in the west of the northern coast of Java island, Central Java Province. This study aims to study the aesthetic form, function and symbolic values of Buroq, as well as the system of relationship patterns among actors, Buroq puppets, and the audience. The result of the research shows that the rise of Buroq art stems from the Isra’-Mi’raj ‘ trip of Prophet Muhammad by using the vehicle named Buroq. It is narrated that Buraq is like a winged-horse with a beautiful woman face who can move with lightning speed as a vehicle in the Isra’-Mi’raj journey of the Prophet Muhammad. This story is the primary source of inspiration for local artists to express aesthetic-symbolic in accordance with the imagination they possess in the form of acculturation that combines elements of Javanese, Chinese, and Islamic cultural symbols. As Islamic-based traditional arts of community, Buroq with all the uniqueness of its physical form not only has functions and values in the grandeur of Islam which awakens and strengthens the cultural awareness among residents to act and behave in accordance with the teaching of Islam in coastal Javanese Islamic culture but also has the functionality and entertainment value for the multicultural community.

Abstract

One example of society-based local art which is constantly enculturated is woven craft of Desa Jepang (Jepang Village) Kecamatan Mejobo in Kudus Regency. This paper aims at explaining the enculturation of woven craft grown in Jepang village Kudus Regency Central Java Province Indonesia as a form society-based art education. The approach employed in this study was qualitative with the cased study as the research design. Data were collected through observation, non-structural interview, as well as documentation study with interactive model analysis. Research results show that art education grows within the society as the result of enculturation process of woven craft art in Jepang Village that takes place in the forms of: (1) the transmission of the craft skill and (2) the transmission of socio-cultural values. The transmission process is done between the old and young generations both in informal and non-formal ways. The woven craft of Jepang Village as an art product that has been enculturated is unique in terms of its form, media, technique, idea, as well as the modification aspects.

Abstract

This study aims to understand and explain the problems of aesthetic adaptation through the development of ceramic art design in Mayong Lor Village as a cultural strategy in facing market competition to maintain the local characteristics. The research data was through by participant observation technique, in-depth interview, and document data tracking. The results show the following: First, the type of ceramic products can be classified into four categories, namely: 1) celengan (piggy banks), (2) children›s toys/remitance (keg, jars, cups, glasses, plates, paso, teapots, earrings, angklo, kekep) , (3) glassware for household purposes, such as jugs, kendil, padasan, and cowek, (4) decorative items (vases, jars, pots, wuwungan tiles, pencil pot, souvenirs, and carving. Aesthetically, the expression on ceramic pottery of Mayong Lor Village is simple and non-complicated as well as prioritizes the aspect of physical function which is oriented to economic value. Second, the social and cultural environment of Mayong Lor society creates typical patterns of interaction and lifestyle (with the support of its natural resources) resulting in the process of skill transfer of ceramic pottery traditionally from generation to generation and produces a unique and simple ceramic product. Third, in the midst of the strong influence of modern industrial pressures, the craftsmen struggle in the process of creativity by performing an aesthetic adaptation to develop new design with new artistic and economical values as the embodiment of a cultural strategy to maintain the creative potential of their local arts.

Abstract

Publik menyadari bahwa peran guru dalam proses pendidikan sangatlah penting, oleh sebab itu kompetensi evaluasi pembelajaran oleh guru perlu selalu ditingkatkan untuk mendukung tujuan pendidikan, tidak terkecuali guru seni  budaya  di Kabupaten Kudus. Oleh sebab itu diperlukan pelatihan bagi guru seni budaya yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan profesionalnya dalam evaluasi pembelajaran. Kegiatan ini memiliki dua luaran utama. Luaran utama yang diharapkan dalam pengabdian ini yaitu: (1) publikasi prosiding seminar nasional dan (2) modul pengembangan instrumen penilaian aspek keterampilan berkarya. Mitra kegiatan ini adalah Guru Seni budaya Kabupaten Kudus dengan lokasi kegiatan di SMP N 1 Kudus. Metode pelaksanaan yang digunakan yaitu pelatihan dengan prosedur sebagai berikut: (1) identifikasi pemahaman evaluasi Seni budaya, (2) FGD dengan pengurus MGMP, (3) pelatihan evaluasi Seni budaya, (4) penerapan hasil pelatihan, (5) monitoring dan evaluasi kegiatan. Kegiatan yang dilakukan telah menghasilkan peningkatan kompetensi evaluasi pembelajaran melalui pelatihan penilaian berkarya seni yang dapat dipahami guru pengampu mata pelajaran Seni budaya.

Abstract

Local culture is a content that can be used in the preparation of textbook material. Javanese culture (Banyumasan) as having noble values that should be understood by children, especially at the primary education level in Banyumas Regency. This research reveals: the type of Banyumasan fable and its potential as a source of learning as the conservation of Banyumasan culture through education. Research uses a qualitative approach to case study design. This research is believed to provide theoretical benefits about the concept of learning art and literature. The results show that Banyumas has various folklore with Banyumasan values. Tales that contain conservation of Banyumasan culture can potentially be a source of learning (enrichment) for children in the education process.

Abstract

Cultural values in accordance with the substance a/education which is to educate the nation as a whole, have changed direction into a value-and-job oriented human beings. Going to school or college, a person is only to get the predicate of "pass" with apiece of evident "certificate", instead of becoming an educated intelligent man intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. Such reality raises various concerns among education observers. Indonesia is gradually losing its national character. The issue of national character is a question of culture. Therefore, the character education should also be multiculturally based, -which is implicitly inherent in "learning about the arts ", "learning the arts ", and "learning through the arts ". Art education has a strategic position, so it has the potential to implement the national character education. The development of the implementation of art education leading more greatly to multicultural-based character value that requires conceptual contribution of all parties is needed. In general this paper discusses the implementation of art learning in order to manifest multicultural-based character education as a response to the road map for arts-education, Unesco.

Abstract

Learning art at the high school level is an important part of the formal school learning process. Art education and creativity through the art of illustration in the process of learning in SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kudus is an aesthetic educational institution for learners. An introduction to the values ​​of working with illustrative art, the sensitivity of elements and principles of evaluation of illustrative artwork and the importance of creativity education to students through the techniques of montage in illustrative artwork. This research used qualitative descriptive methods. With the study setting in the SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kudus in Class VIII-H. Data collection techniques are interviews, observations and documentation. Data analysis using qualitative research stages and validity of data using Triangulation data. The results of the research are revealing; (1) the process of implementing illustrative art learning with the application of montage techniques to the grade VIII students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kudus, (2) the analysis of art elements and design principles in the aesthetic assessment of 12 illustrated works of art, and (3) the analysis of creative creativity art works of 12 illustrated works using montage techniques. The conclusion from the analysis of the 12 paintings, shows that the art of illustration with the montage technique is a form of aesthetic expression and artistic creativity from the expression of the ideas and ideas of each student in the art of assessment of elements and principles of art.
