Al Irfani bertujuan untuk mempublish artikel dari hasil-hasil penelitian dalam wilayah kajian al Quran dan Tafsir serta al Hadist. Artikel yang dipublish menjadi referensi dan rujukan dalam menyelesaikan berbagai persoalan sosial dan terkait dengan disiplin ilmu al Quran dan Tafsir serta hadist baik yang sifatnya teks, kontekstual maupun wujud implementasi dalam kehidupan masyarakat sehari-hari. Jurnal ini diterbitkan dua kali dalam satu tahun. Adapun Scope jurnal Al Irfani adalah kajian meliputi tema tentang isu-isu seputar tafsir klasik, hermeneutika kontemporer, dirkursus living qur’an, manuskrip ql-Qur’an, Tafsir Gender, Relasi Al-Qur’an Dan Budaya Pop, Digital Al-Qur’an dan Tarjamah Al-Qur’an.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine how much influence the learning of the Yanbu'a method and the tasmi' program had on the achievement of memorizing the Qur'an of the students of PP An Nur Bantul Yogyakarta at the Attariq complex. This research used quantitative methods with three variables. The subjects in this research were 40 students. Data collection was done using interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. The instrument validity test was carried out using Aiken's formula and reliability estimation was carried out using Cronbach's Alpha. Data analysis was performed by multiple regression analysis. The results showed that: (1) the Yanbu'a method learning variable (X1) had a positive and significant relationship to the Al-Qur'an memorization achievement variable (Y), which was indicated by the correlation coefficient (Rx1Y) of 0.811, and p (sig) of 0.000. (2) the tasmi' program variable (X2) had a positive and significant relationship to the Al-Qur'an memorization achievement variable (Y). which was indicated by a correlation value (Rx2Y) of 0.821, with a p-value (sig) of 0.000. (3) simultaneously, variables X1 and X2 had an effect of 69.5% on variable Y.

Abstract

This research is focused on the views and interpretations of Muhammad Husain Thabahaba'i regarding intercession in his commentary, al-Mizan Fi Tafsir al-Qur'an. Discussion of intercession is a debate between Sunni and Shia groups. One of these debates is conveyed in the form of interpretation of the Koran or interpretation of the Koran. Interpretation of verses regarding intercession is influenced by ideological interests, such as Sunni and Shia interests. This means that the Sunni group has a different interpretation from the Shia group regarding intercession, the intercessor, the form of intercession in the Qur'an. This research is a library (Library Research) with the research object focused on Tafsir al-Mizan Fi Tafsir al-Qur'an. This study uses a thematic approach (Maudlu'i), the analytical method used is descriptive-analytical. This study found two major conclusions. First, Tabataba'i understands syafa'at in the sense of obtaining benefits and to keep harm away. As for the group of intercessors, Tabataba'i divides them into two: (a) intercessors in the life of the world and (b) intercessors in the hereafter. Second, in interpreting QS. al-Baqarah: 48, 123, and 254, Tabataba'i understands it as a rejection of giving absolute intercession to the Jews. Meanwhile, in interpreting QS. al-Baqarah: 255. Tabataba'i understands that intercessors are absolutely given by Allah SWT and by groups who get permission or are pleased from Allah, such as the Prophet Muhammad SAW and the Shia Imams.

Abstract

Al-Qur'an is a holy book that is always needed to answer life's problems, from the past to the end of time. Contemporary applications aimed at information, communication and showcasing skills. However, the problems they face are increasingly complex and experiencing developments, such as the problem of venting (indulgence of disgrace) on social media. Therefore, a new method is needed in understanding the Al-Quran so that it can be contextualized and can provide the best solution. This study examines the verses of vent (indulgence of disgrace), the author uses the understanding method offered by Fazlur Rahman's Double Movement theory as an analytical knife which is considered capable of answering contemporary problems, by looking at the socio-historical problem as a way to find a moral idea. Al-Quran verses so that they can be understood and applied to the present context. This research uses a type of library research (library research), is qualitative in nature with the presentation of data in a descriptive-analytical manner. The results of the analysis show that venting is dishonorable on social media, firstly the value of moral ideas in QS. ar- Ra'ad verse 10, QS. An-Nur verse 19 explains the prohibition of indulgence and talking about one's own disgrace. Second, QS. An-Nisa- verse 148 QS.al-Hujurat verse 12 and QS. An-Nisa verse 34 indulges in other people's disgrace. Third, An-Nahl verse 43, that venting (indulgence of disgrace) is permissible in the sense that an effort to solve a problem is included in the obligation, provided that with intention, it is conveyed to get a solution (intention, finding a solution) and delivered to someone who can provide a solution ( experts), as the moral ideals of the Qur'an that are relevant to the context of today's contemporary society.

Abstract

The development of Qur'anic studies in Indonesia, especially in the 90s, experienced significant growth. It was marked by the emergence of various methodological offers from those who not only specialize as mufassirs, but also from non-mufassir scholars. Dawam Rahardjo with his new idea of “social thematic interpretation” (al-Mauḍū’īyyah al-Ijtimā’iyyah) is one of the non-interpretive scholars who have colored the dialectic of Qur`anic interpretation. His thematic methodology based on the analysis of key terms has become an object of discourse that continues to be debated until now. The research in this article is one of the critical studies that tries to fill the discourse. Methodologically, this research is a qualitative research that is operationalized in two approaches: First, the historical approach is used to analyze the originality of the development of Dawam Rahardjo’s tafsir thought. Second, through a critical approach from the perspective of ‘ulūm al-Qur`ān, the author rethinks and critically reads Dawam Rahadjo's interpretation methodology, both in terms of novelty, excellence and weakness. The results of this study show that Dawam Rahardjo’s thematic interpretation methodology has no fundamental differences with thematic methods in general, although some aspects such as “historical interpretation” and “paradigmatic interpretation” are distinctive. However, Dawam has some weaknesses. In terms of the ethics of interpretation, he tends to be apathetic towards the “formal requirements” agreed upon by the majority of scholars, thus often ignoring the basic principles in interpretation. While in terms of methodology, his ideas are still discursive discourse, immature, so it is not uncommon when interpreting, his ideas are not in line with the theory he developed, even some aspects of his views seem distorted, especially his description of the genealogy of thematic interpretation (mauḍū’ī).

Abstract

Abstract: There is no verse in the Quran that explicitly mentions LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) groups. The term LBGT is based solely on the analysis of scholars' approach and munasabah to the verse on the word fahisiyah or al-Fahasya. This research is a literature study using primary data from tafsir al-Quran, tafsir documents from the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, and secondary data from books and other articles related to the discussion of LGBT. This research is conducted using the Maudui data collection method. That is, setting the topic of discussion, searching and collecting verses of the Qur'an that have similar themes and arguments, and explaining the interpretation of verses related to the topic of sexual disorientation. After collecting all the data, the next step is to analyze the data using descriptive and contextual analysis. The main variable is the Qur'anic verse. Then, the text is explained, categorized, and interpreted objectively based on the Hadith and scholarly opinions on the subject under discussion. Therefore, from the above explanation, we can conclude that LGBT is a deviant act and is clearly prohibited in Islam, as stated in the interpretation book of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs. Abstract

This research aims to criticize the use of literal interpretation methods in the interpretation of the Quran and offer contextual interpretation as an alternative method of interpretation. The study analyzed the history of the use of literal interpretation methods in the interpretation of the Quran, the characteristics of literal interpretation methods, the weaknesses of literal interpretation methods, and the impacts of using literal interpretation methods. The method used in this study was qualitative with a literature study approach. Data was collected through a literature study of books, journals, and related articles. Then, data analysis was conducted using a qualitative descriptive analysis method. The results of the study show that the use of literal interpretation methods in the interpretation of the Quran still lacks attention to the historical and social context when writing verses, and produces a rigid and limited understanding of the Quranic text. The excessive use of literal interpretation methods can also lead to conflicts among Muslims. The impacts of using literal interpretation methods include producing a rigid understanding of religion, neglecting the development of times and the needs of Muslims, and not paying enough attention to social justice values in the Quran. As an alternative, contextual interpretation is offered as a method that pays more attention to the historical, social, and cultural context when writing verses in the Quran. In conclusion, this research shows that the use of literal interpretation methods in the interpretation of the Quran has many weaknesses and negative impacts, so it is necessary to consider using alternative methods such as contextual interpretation.

Abstract

This research presents a comparative analysis between the Tarjuman Al-Mustafid book with Anwar At-Tanzil's commentary, and Jalalain's commentary with a focus only on magic verses starting from Surah Al-Fatihah, Al-Baqarah verse 102, and Al-Falaq. The research method used is a qualitative approach focused on library research with the main data coming from the books of Tarjuman Al-Mustafid, Tafsir Anwar At-Tanzil, and Tafsir Jalalain. The results of the research show that there is quite a big influence from Anwar At-Tanzil's interpretation and Jalalain's interpretation on Tarjuman Al-Mustafid in terms of the systematic writing and meaning of the verses. One important factor in the relationship with the interpretation of Jalalain is Abdurrauf's intellectual connection with Jalaluddin As-Suyuti, the author of the interpretation of Jalalain. Apart from that, Anwar At-Tanzil's tafsir is also an important reference source in writing this tafsir, as stated on the cover of Tarjuman Al-Mustafid's tafsir. In understanding the magic verses, Abdurrauf is more inclined or agrees with Tafsir Jalalain because it is used as a reference, and is influential when providing a more general explanation.

Abstract

This article discusses the semantic meaning of the word yad in the Qur'an. The author uses a semantic approach, namely an analytical study of the key terms of a language with a view that ultimately arrives at a conceptual understanding or world view. This research uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive analytical discussion method with a type of library research. The word yad in the Qur'an is repeated 113 times, and is found in 103 verses, with various forms, namely mufrad (singular) 16 times, mutsanna (double) 33 times, and plural (compound) 64 times. Based on Toshihiko Izutsu's semantics, the author concludes that the basic meaning of the word yad is the hand, part of the human body, while the relational meaning from the syntagmatic analysis of the word yad is kudrah, strength, in front and gift. Among the paradigmatic relational meanings are Al Kaff and Al Dzira. In the pre-Qur'anic period, the word yad meant hands, part of the human body. In the Qur'anic period, the hand can shift to meanings that have spiritual value (bakhil, benefactor). Meanwhile, in the post-Quranic period, the word yad did not experience a significant change in meaning. From several analyzes that have been carried out above, it can be seen that the waltanschauung or worldview of the word yad, namely the hand, is materially part of the human body and also yad which has a shift in meaning in the spiritual realm such as generosity, piety, grace and strength.

Abstract

Wise leadership is a central aspect in the story of the Prophets David and Solomon as revealed in Surah al-Anbiya verses 78-79 in the Koran. The aim of the research is to reveal the wisdom and leadership values contained in the narrative and explore its relevance in the modern context. The research method involves an analytical approach to the text of the Koran with a focus on verses 78-79 in Surah al-Anbiya. The study of tafsir ma’na cum maghza is used to understand the historical and spiritual context of events involving the Prophets David and Solomon. Primary data was obtained through literature studies of the al-Qur’an and tafsir as well as literature related to leadership. The research results show that the wise leadership of the Prophets David and Solomon included aspects such as justice, courage and spiritual wisdom. An in-depth ma’na cum maghza analysis reveals the moral values underlying the actions of both Prophets, providing insight into how wise leadership can have a positive impact in society. The relevance of this research lies in the ability to extract universal principles from the stories of the Prophets David and Solomon and apply them in the context of modern leadership. The practical implication of this research is to provide guidance for today’s leaders to integrate ethical values and spirituality in their decision making and interactions with society.

Abstract

This article aims to conduct an analysis of Islamic boarding school tafsir treasures by taking a case study of Safinah Kalla  Saya’lamun Fi Tafsir Syaikhina Maimun. In general, this work is part of the Indonesian interpretation. However, so far the mapping of the Tafsir Nusantara typology has not touched on the institutional aspect which is an important locus for the emergence of this work. This article questions the background to the writing of Safinah Kalla Saya'lamun? And in the context of what horizon was the work born? These two questions are the basis for expanding the study of the existence of Islamic boarding school interpretive works. This article used qualitative method with the content analysis. This article concludes, that the book Kalla Saya'lamun was originally the result of the Tafsir Jalalain recitation every Sunday read by Maimoen Zubair (d. 2019). The position of the writer who was a student at that time felt the importance of recording the teacher's ideas. However, in fact, the author’s role is not only to explain Zubair's ideas, but also to explore and compare with the views of other commentators. So that it is able to present a literary interpretation of the Al-Qur'an that is not only one way, but presents a rich variety of views using simplistic methods, in addition to presenting ideas that are unique to the locality of the Islamic boarding school. In this case, the interpreter links the meaning of the verse to the current social context or local historical facts. Based on the findings of this work, this research proves that the dynamics of interpretive studies in Islamic boarding schools continue to grow.
