Abstract

This paper proposes an authentication mechanism on the MQ Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol. The exchange of data in the IoT system became an important activity. The MQTT protocol is a fast and lightweight communication protocol for IoT. One of the problems with the MQTT protocol is that there is no security mechanism in the initial setup. One security attack may occur during the client registration phase. The client registration phase has a vulnerability to accept false clients due to the absence of an authentication mechanism. An authentication mechanism has been previously made using Transport Layer Security (TLS). However, the TLS mechanism consumes more than 100 KB of data memory and is not suitable for devices that have limitations. Therefore, a suitable authentication mechanism for constraint devices is required. This paper proposes a protocol for authentication mechanisms using dynamic and event-based authentication for the MQTT protocol. The eventbased is used to reduce the computing burden of constraint devices. Dynamic usage is intended to provide different authentication properties for each session so that it can improve authentication security. As results, the applied of the event-based dynamic authentication protocol was successful in the constraint devices of  microcontrollers and broker. The microcontroller, as a client, is able to process the proposed protocol. The client uses 52% of the memory for the proposed protocol and only consumes 2% higher than the protocol without security. The broker can find authentic clients and constraint devices capable of computing to carry out mutual authentication processes to clients. The broker uses a maximum of 4.3 MB of real memory and a maximum CPU usage of 3.7%.

Abstract

Solar panels are an essential part of a system of electrical source devices that receives light energy to be processed into electrical energy with direct current (DC) output. The main problem in the use of solar panels is that the production of power in solar panels is not constant due to the temperature and solar radiation changes. This non-constant power causes the solar panel output power to fluctuate and become unstable. This output power will be used in processing using the MPPT Perturb and Observe (PNO) method to obtain the maximum solar panel receiving point. This PNO method uses two input parameters and can be applied to all types of solar panels. This study aims to reduce the oscillation of the output power of MPPT using electronic power simulations on a three-level boost converter by combining PNO and Fuzzy MPPT methods. The Fuzzy method in this study uses the Mamdani inference method, which uses two inputs and one output. The boost converter was tested using a simulation on several conditions of sunlight received by solar panels. The simulation results show that the power output from the MPPT PNO and Fuzzy methods can reduce oscillation more optimally, 78.57%.

Abstract

QR Code is the development of barcode technology that is able to store various kinds of information such as URLs, telephone numbers, SMS messages or other texts. At first, this technology was used for tracking vehicle parts in automotive industry. This study aims to develop an automatic presence system by utilizing QR Code technology, so that the presence process is more effective when compared to the presence manually since it was using digital technology. The implementation of the presence system with a QR Code was carried out at the Madrasah Aliyah Al Mukhlisin Bandung, to help solving some problems in school administration. The system was built in the form of an application installed on each teacher’s smartphone. Every student tapped their QR code image to confirm their attendance before the lesson begins. The advantage of this application was that it has an advantage on generated image of QR Code changed every user login. The results of development and testing showed that the developed system can be a solution for the presence process through the application of ICT technology with a QR Code. Testing of Quality of Service (QoS) on developed system was appropriate with ITU recommendation. Survey of users was applied to check the properness of application.

Abstract

The inverter with low voltage harmonics on the output side is a very interesting topic, and widely studied. One of these solutions is a 5-levels inverter: Dual Buck DC-DC Converter - H Bridge Inverter (DBC-HBI). The inverter control methods based on digital sinusoidal pulse width modulation (DSPWM) are commonly implemented by one or a half of the wavelength algorithm (λ). However, one period could be constructed by combining four algorithms by ¼ λ. In this paper, an algorithm of DSPWM based on a ¼ λ algorithm is investigated. The aim of this research is the simplest control and capacities of memory. Finally, a verification of the proposed method was carried out by the experiment in the laboratory. Based on the laboratory tests: 1 λ algorithm has a simple algorithm, but uses large memory, whereas a ¼ λ algorithm more complicated but uses less memory.

Abstract

The two-axis Sun tracker with the tetrahedron geometry that has been developed has an error percentage of 31.26% and a speed of 0.063 m/s. The value of the accuracy and speed is still considered low for tracking sunlight in open space conditions. The research aims to improve the accuracy and speed of the tetrahedron tracker sun. The method used to obtain tracking accuracy is to implement a control system that forms a tracking system using the proportional integral derivative (PID) control and modifies the sun's light by adding a sun tracker and laser to the top of the tetrahedron structure. In addition, the motor used to measure the state of the horizontal and vertical axes is the DC Stepper type. The results obtained indicate the level of accuracy of the modified sun tracker system is 0.650 on the X-axis and 0.540 on the Y-axis with a speed of 0.091 m / s. From these results, it can be concluded that the sun tracker modification is able to track sunlight properly with an average tracking error rate of 0.78% on the X-axis and 4.67% on the Y axis.

Abstract

An electronic module based on the ATmega32 microcontroller as a security system for cars that integrated into the engine immobilizer has been created. Three main things in this study, namely programming and verification tests, making an initial security system with a minimalist structure, and validation tests. Programming for the microcontroller system through algorithm determination and syntax writing, while the verification test is done through uploading the program syntax to the Proteus application and implementing the simulation. Determining the algorithms and writing the syntax through a number of steps, namely pin configuration, variable declarations, constant declarations, initialization, main programs, retrieve and send data, and output. The simulation assisted by the Proteus application is in the form of giving two kinds of commands/inputs to the sensor, namely one input data in the form of human existence or human motion to the passive infrared receiver sensor and one input of human fingerprint initialization data to the fingerprint sensor. The simulation results according to the order of the fingerprint sensor and passive infrared receiver in the form of a display on the Virtual Terminal. The minimalist structure of the system is composed of circuit diagrams, physical forms, and integrated wiring on the ATmega32 microcontroller system. The performance of the security system is shown, that the results of monitoring when the sensor is given input "human existence (motion)", the fingerprint sensor blinks (on) and when the fingerprint sensor blinks which means ready to receive input data in the form of "Human Initialization (fingerprint)" for activating actuators and starter system on the car. Giving input commands to the sensor passive infrared receiver and fingerprint has functioned for the appointment of performance, that the initial security system has been integrated with the main security systemand attached to the car.

Abstract

In this research, proposed lighting in smartroom with PoE technology (Power over Ethernet). IT facility is PoE Switch, Ethernet Cable and LAN network. Smartroom in this study is defined as meeting room in a high rise building that has LAN network. This research is motivated by many lighting lamps that use AC power, when the future use of AC source will be reduced, even with PoE switch voltage source still use AC, but can eliminate the pitch of light that still uses conventional AC. Building infrastructure systems tend to be developed towards IP protocols. An area where the electrical area becomes fully integrated into the IP network. This is made possible through the use of LED with low voltage and low current. However, in order to utilize the technical and economic advantages offered by LED Lighting Solutions, the addition of light sensor and motion as a switch will make it more complete. The results of the study obtained a cheaper cost than the use without PoE.

Abstract

Each material has its own characteristics, which are represented by the value of speed/ultrasonic wave propagation speed (C) and acoustic impedance/material resistance (Ztl). One technique that can be used to obtain these characteristics is by applying ultrasonic testing. This technique utilizes two ultrasonic sensors as transmitter (UST) and receiver (USR) to get signal properties from each material. The measurement mechanism is nondestructive testing (NDT) where the material tested is not damaged so it does not change the character of the sample. In this research, material characteristics are represented by reflected signals from material (echo). To process the echo signal data and get the characteristics of the sample, we need a number of data processing algorithms such as Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), Peak Detection, and Grid Search. By processing echo from reflected signals, C and Ztl values can be obtained. From the experimental results obtained, the values of C and Ztl in sample 1 with a density of 1856.97573 g/m3 are C = 636 m/s and Ztl = 474640 Ns/m3, samples 2 with a density of 1792.94208 g/m3 of C = 491 m/s and Ztl = 408080 Ns/m3, while the sample 3 with a density of 1663.85025 g/m3 is C = 434 m/s and Ztl = 405639 Ns/m3. The value of material characterization shown that a dense clay also has higher C and Ztl.

Abstract

In this research, we propose a prototype to measure glucose index in human body after applying benedict reagen into urine samples. This system divides into two main components that are identification device and android smartphone. The identification device consists of TCS3200 colour sensor and a raspberry pi. The TCS3200 colour sensor's function is to predict the alteration of urine sample and determine the colour category according to the benedict rule and to measure the glucose in the sample. The Raspberry pi function is to process the data that acquired from the colour sensor. By optimizing with Tsukamoto Fuzzy Logic Control, the research successfully identifies the glucose by achieving 100% and the result of fuzzy logic control on Raspberry Pi as decision making by urine in 90% and by conflicting minimum error in 5.6%.
