Abstract

Introduction: Cervical root syndrome is a condition caused by irritation or compression of the cervical nerve roots by protrusion of the intervertebral disc with neck pain that radiates to the shoulder, upper arm or forearm, parasthesia and muscle weakness (spasm). Cervical root syndrome (CRS) refers to changes in the cervical spine and surrounding soft tissue with pain as the predominant symptom. Spasm of the muscles can cause pain and limitation of joint motion in the ligament filavum of the segment, pain occurs in the nerve roots that are compressed in a pattern that spreads along the sides of the arm. Objective: Management of physiotherapy in cases of cervical root syndrome (CRS) aims to reduce pain in the neck, so that it can increase the range of motion of the joints and increase functional activity. Methode: The measurement instrument used is the Neck Disabilty Index (NDI). Physiotherapy interventions in cases of cervical root syndrome are given in the form of: Transcutaneous Electrical Stimulation (TENS), and Stretching. Transcutaneous Electrical Stimulation (TENS) is a device used to stimulate analgesia and then sent to the entire surface of the skin to stimulate peripheral nerves through electrode pads. Results: After doing TENS and Stretching on the patient Mr. S has a complaint of feeling pain in the back of the neck when looking to the right accompanied by pain radiating to the point of tingling from the neck to the right hand side. After doing physiotherapy for 3 times using TENS, and stretching, it was found that there was an increase in muscle strength, a decrease in pain, and an increase in the activity of functional abilities. Conclusion: In this article, giving TENS and stretching 3 x per week can reduce pain, increase muscle strength, and increase the ability of functional activities. Keywords: Cervical Root Syndrome, TENS, Stretching

Abstract

Patients after postoperative Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction, generally experience several problems such as pain, swelling, decreased knee ROM, decreased muscle strength, decreased leg muscle mass, and decreased quality of daily life. Some of the above problems can be overcome more quickly using the new method with BFRT in the standard phase 1 post ACLR program. The patient, a 32-year-old man, has suffered from an ACL injury since 1 year ago, due to a twisted knee when he fell from a motorcycle and just had ACLR surgery on his left knee 7 days ago with a hamstring tendon autograft. After 7 days postoperatively, the patient came to the ARA Physio clinic with complaints of left knee pain, swelling, difficulty bending the knee, and difficulty walking. The physiotherapy program is scheduled twice a week for 4 weeks and evaluated every 2 weeks to find out its progress. The physiotherapy program includes exercises to reduce pain and swelling in the left knee, increase ROM in the left knee, increase left leg muscle mass by adding BFRT to standard phase 1 ACL exercises. Measurement of pain using VAS, swelling and atrophy using a meterline, ROM using a goniometer, and knee functional using the WOMAC Index. In evaluating the progress of the patient after being given an intervention for 4 weeks, the results showed a decrease in left knee swelling, an increase in left knee ROM, a decrease in left knee pain scale, an increase in left leg muscle mass, and an increase in knee functional ability. Keywords: Physiotherapy Interventions, Post Operation Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction, Blood Flow Restriction Training.

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is an acute infection process lasting for 14 days, caused by microorganisms and attacks one part, and or more of the respiratory tract, from the nose (upper tract) to the alveoli (lower tract), including adnexal tissue., such as sinuses, middle ear cavity and pleura (Erliani 2012). This study aims to determine the relationship between passive smoking and the incidence of respiratory tract infections (ARI) in children under five in the working area of the Langsa Lama Health Center, Langsa City, Aceh Province in 2020. This study was descriptive using primary data with a total sample of 40 children under five in passive smoking. with the incidence of Respiratory Tract Infections (ARI) in the Work Area of the Langsa Lama Health Center, Langsa City, Aceh Province. The results of this study indicate that the level of knowledge of children under five from 40 respondents (100%) the majority of respondents have less knowledge as many as 24 respondents (60%) and a minority of respondents with sufficient knowledge as many as 12 respondents (30%). Based on the data analysis, the results of the chi-square test at a 90% confidence level resulted in a P-Value of 0.001 (P <0.05) where Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. This shows that statistically there is a relationship between passive smoking and ARI. This result is due to the fact that the knowledge of children under five affects the incidence of ARI. It is recommended for active smokers not to smoke near children under five because of the dangers and it is better for active smokers to stop smoking for the health of themselves, their families, and the environment. Keywords: Knowledge, Passive smokers, Infection, Respiratory, Childhood.

Abstract

Trigger finger is a common condition that may cause significant functional impairment. It is tenosynovitis in the flexor sheaths of the fingers and thumb as a result of repetitive use. A narrowing of flexor pulley sheaths combined with hypertrophy and inflammation of the tendon/sheath interface cause trigger finger or stenosing tenosynovitis. Objective: To determine the management in the form of physiotherapy in reducing pain, increasing muscle strength, and increasing joint motion in Trigger Finger sufferers using infrared, Ultrasound, and Exercise Therapy modalities in the form of active exercise and Hold Relax. After being given physiotherapy for 6 treatments, the value of silent pain decreased from T1:3 to T6:0, tenderness from T1:6 to T6:0, movement pain T1:7 to T6:0, increased flexor and extensor muscle strength from T1:3 to T6:5, increased flexion range of motion in the Proximal Interphalangeal joint Sinistra movement from T1:60° to T6: 115°. Infrared, ultrasound, and exercise therapy can help reduce pain, increase muscle strength and increase range of motion.
