Abstract

Various complications can be experienced by mothers in the postpartum period, one of which is postpartum infection caused by improper perineal wound care. Based on the Cikajang public health center report in September-October 2023, there were 76 postpartum women and as many as 32 people (42%) who experienced grade II perineal wounds, while there were 3 cases of perineal wound infection. Efforts to heal perineal wounds can be overcome pharmacologically and non-pharmacologically using herbal ingredients such as red betel leaf and aloe vera. Betel leaf and aloe vera contain chemical compounds that function as antibiotics and anti-bacteria that can help the wound healing process. The purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of red betel leaf decoction rinse (Piper Crocatum) and aloe vera compress (Aloe vera) for healing second degree perineal wounds at the Cikajang Public health center, Garut District in 2024. The research method used was qualitative research with a case study approach by comparing two postpartum women who experienced grade II perineal wounds. One was given the intervention of red betel leaf decoction rinse and aloe vera compress, the other was given the intervention of dry clean technique and observed with the REEDA scale. The results of the study respondents who were given the intervention of red betel leaf decoction rinse and aloe vera compress had a faster healing value compared to the respondents who were given a dry clean technique. Conclusion Red betel leaf decoction rinse and aloe vera compress are effective in accelerating the healing of grade II perineal wounds. Suggestions for health workers can implement interventions to rinse red betel leaf decoction and aloe vera compresses to accelerate perineal wound healing in postpartum mothers and can increase further knowledge.

The results of the study using Chi Square analysis showed ρ value α ≤ 0.05 is that there is a defining relationship between the behavior of pregnant mothers performing ANC with Age (ρ value = 0.044 < 0.05), Education (ρ value = 0.013<0,05), Knowledge 0,05). Kknowledge (ρ value= 0.037< 0.05 ), Attitude (ρ value = 0.039 < 0.05) and Health Facilities (ρ value = 0.035< 0.05). Whereas the unrelated variables are maternal work (ρ value = 0.198 > 0.05) and Husband support (ρ value = 0.130 > 0.05). The Covid 19 pandemic does not prevent pregnant mothers from undergoing routine pregnancy checks.

Abstract

Hyperbilirubinemia is a common issue experienced by newborns. In the bodies of newborns, the organs have not yet developed fully, leading to an increase in bilirubin production. Their ability to filter bilirubin is not well established, and bilirubin transport can be disrupted in infants. Sometimes, the liver cannot process bilirubin effectively, resulting in an excess of bilirubin in the body; this condition is referred to as hyperbilirubinemia. Although hyperbilirubinemia occurs frequently, if not managed properly, it can lead to complications, including irreversible brain damage. The research design employed in this study was a pre-experimental design, which involved a one-group pre-test and post-test method conducted at Budi Mulia Medika Clinic in Palembang from September to October 2024. The sample consisted of 35 postpartum mothers selected through non-probability accidental sampling. Data collection was carried out via questionnaires, and statistical analysis included paired t-tests to assess the differences in knowledge levels before and after health education. The results indicated a significant increase in knowledge, with pre-test mean scores of 11.31 (SD = 2.610) rising to post-test mean scores of 15.91 (SD = 3.551), yielding a p-value of 0.000. The conclusions of this study emphasize the need for structured health education programs to enhance mothers' understanding of hyperbilirubinemia, which could ultimately lead to improved health outcomes for newborns. The findings highlight the role of healthcare providers in delivering essential health education to reduce the incidence and complications of hyperbilirubinemia among neonates.

Abstract

Prenatal education can be understood as a conscious effort by parents (husband and wife) to educate their unborn child. The fetus can respond to stimuli from outside the womb, such as sound and music, which can affect their brain development and sensory skills. Various studies have proven the benefits of providing stimulation, including better adaptability and increasing intelligence potential. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was a relationship between the mother's knowledge and attitude towards providing stimulation or prenatal education. The research method used was quantitative descriptive analytical design. The population of all pregnant women in TM II and TM III were 31 respondents who attended the routine monthly class for pregnant women at the Rizki Bangko Bdn Practice. The results of the study showed that the majority of pregnant women had routinely provided prenatal education, namely 61.3%, but there were still mothers who did not do prenatal education (12.9%) and there was a relationship between the level of knowledge and attitude of mothers and the provision of prenatal education with a P Value <0.05. Conclusion High knowledge and positive attitudes of mothers are the reference or awareness of mothers in providing prenatal education, on average, respondents have routinely attended Pregnant Women's classes, which is one of the bases for high knowledge and positive attitudes of mothers towards awareness of providing prenatal education.
