Abstract

This study aims to describe the issues and problems related to community participation in the empowerment program entitled the Resilient Coastal Area Development Program (Program Pengembangan Kawasan Pesisir Tangguh or PKPT) in coastal areas. Additionally, it discusses the importance of creating a participatory development model. This study holds significance due to the specific nature of PKPT implementation, which combines a top-down participation mechanism from the central government with a bottom-up approach involving northern coastal communities in Central Java. The research employs a qualitative method, utilizing an action research approach. The study includes informants such as organizers of coastal communities, village heads, village officials, personnel from the Marine and Fisheries Service of Kebumen Regency in Central Java, among others. The results reveal that the PKPT program's implementation in coastal areas of Java, particularly in Kebumen, utilizes both top-down and bottom-up mechanisms, resulting in low community participation in the substantive implementation of PKPT. Consequently, this lack of participation affects the sustainability of the empowerment program. This study presents a participatory development model expected to serve as a reference for organizing sustainable empowerment programs in coastal areas in the future.

Abstract

Transportation plays a crucial role in driving development, particularly in developing countries such as Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the concentration of riders, vehicle equipment, traffic discipline on the safety of motorcyclists on the lasem-rembang pantura road. In this study, researchers used two types of data, including Qualitative Data and Quantitative Data. The results show that rider concentration, vehicle completeness, and traffic discipline have a positive and significant influence on motorcyclist safety. The results of the simple regression test show that the three variables have a positive coefficient, which means that the higher the concentration, vehicle equipment, and traffic discipline, the higher the level of rider safety.

Abstract

Religious moderation involves a balanced and non-extremist approach to religious worship. This article seeks to determine whether the Quran and Hadith, as the holy texts of Islam, contain any elements that could potentially incite violence and terrorism, particularly against individuals of other faiths. In this research, the author employs the maudhu’i tafsir method, which involves selecting a specific topic and then examining various Quranic verses and Hadiths related to religious moderation in the context of the study’s focus. The findings of this study demonstrate that the Quran and Hadith do not encourage Muslims to engage in acts of violence or religious extremism. Instead, these sources emphasize the importance of practicing religion with balance and moderation, promoting a friendly, gentle, and compassionate approach. Balance is not only encouraged in matters of faith but also regarded as essential in maintaining the harmony of life and preventing the destruction of the world.

Abstract

Income generated from the oil and gas industry plays a pivotal role in national development. This research adopts a deductive approach, incorporating both the Statute Approach and the Case Approach. The primary objective of this study is to examine the legal aspects of enforcing regulations related to the misuse of subsidized Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Jakarta. In response to the significant public demand for oil and natural gas, the government has implemented measures to replace Kerosene with LPG, aiming to reduce fuel subsidies and ease the financial burden on the state. This research is rooted in the Law Enforcement Theory and Punishment Theory, employing a normative juridical approach supplemented by empirical data. The findings reveal that instances of criminal misuse of subsidized LPG gas often involve willing perpetrators without coercion. Consequently, legal consequences are administered in accordance with Article 55 of the Oil and Gas Law and Article 113 of the Trade Law. In a societal context, these actions have adverse consequences, particularly affecting disadvantaged individuals and small-scale businesses, potentially limiting their access to government-regulated subsidized 3-kilogram LPG gas. Therefore, the enforcement of criminal law is deemed an essential measure to address this social issue and ensure compliant distribution of subsidized LPG gas in accordance with prevailing regulations..

Abstract

This research aims to elucidate the strategies implemented by the Indonesian Government to promote the expansion of the beauty industry in the Southeast Asian market. The Indonesian beauty industry has proven resilient in the face of pandemic conditions and has contributed significantly to the Indonesian economy. Consequently, the Indonesian Government is actively pursuing policies and providing assistance to facilitate the industry's expansion into the Southeast Asian market. The research employs an explanatory research methodology, utilizing both secondary data sources and primary data gathered from journals, theses, news articles, and interviews with officials from the Ministry of Industry. The fundamental theoretical framework employed in this study is based on Richard C. Snyder's decision-making model. Through this theoretical lens, the research findings reveal that the policies and assistance offered by the Indonesian Government are influenced by a combination of internal and external factors, both of which hold equal significance and influence one another during the decision-making process. Furthermore, social structure and behavior are interrelated and exert mutual influence within the realm of internal factors..

Abstract

Kijing International Port is a National Strategic Project undergoing development in Mempawah Regency, Indonesia situated in close proximity to community settlements covering an area of 200 hectares. This development significantly impacts various economic and social sectors, including land acquisition and changes in livelihoods. The objective of this study is to assess the impact of the Kijing Port construction on residents affected by the land acquisition process. The research employs descriptive qualitative methods for data collection, including interviews, observations, and documentation. The informants for this study comprise five individuals with diverse livelihoods, selected through purposive sampling focusing on those affected by Kijing Port's land acquisition. The study's findings reveal that land acquisition has had a negative impact on the residents' lives. In the economic sector, the community's welfare has decreased as some have lost permanent employment. Regarding natural and social resources, the community faces challenges related to access to clean water and increased noise and air pollution. Infrastructure has also suffered, with some roads deteriorating quickly. Public perception indicates that, in general, the level of welfare and security was better before the construction of Kijing Port.

Abstract

The resolution of disputes in Islamic banking saw significant changes through the judicial review of Article 55 of Law no. 21 of 2008 in Indonesia. Before this review, Islamic banking disputes were typically handled in courts based on the contract terms. Article 55, paragraph (2), allowed parties to settle disputes in accordance with the contents of the contract using alternative methods, creating confusion. Some banks chose district courts instead of religious courts, which had exclusive jurisdiction. This interpretation, extending freedom of contract to forum selection, created ambiguity. Constitutional court decision No. 93/PUU-X/2012 aimed to clarify matters and reinforced religious courts’ authority in Sharia banking dispute resolution. However, the principle of freedom of contract still plays a role in forum selection, albeit with limitations. This raises two key questions: First, does Constitutional Court Decision No. 93/PUU-X/2012 align with the principle of freedom of contract? Second, what are the legal consequences regarding Islamic banking dispute resolution? According to the judicial review, religious courts now unequivocally have the authority to resolve sharia banking disputes. Any agreement to settle disputes in general courts is considered null and void as it contradicts existing laws and regulations.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the impact of the transformational leadership style and motivation on employee performance, while considering job satisfaction as an intervening variable. The research population comprises all employees of the Department of Public Works and Spatial Planning in Batang Regency, totaling 133 individuals, with a sample size of 100 respondents. The Proportional Simple Random Sampling technique was employed for sampling, utilizing a lottery method. The data analysis technique used in this study was path analysis. The research findings indicate that both the transformational leadership style and motivation have a positive and significant influence on employee performance, as well as a positive and significant impact on job satisfaction. Specifically, the transformational leadership style indirectly affects employee performance through its influence on job satisfaction. However, it is noted that motivation does not significantly influence employee performance through job satisfaction. This suggests that strategies for motivational development need to be tailored and integrated with internal and external factors that can more directly affect employee performance. These factors could include improvements to the work environment, incentive structures, career prospects, and other relevant aspects.

Abstract

Fraud poses a pervasive and significant threat to organizations globally, with catastrophic consequences ranging from financial losses to reputational damage. This study investigates the roles of auditor professional skepticism and the whistleblowing system in combatting fraud and enhancing detection in investigative audits. Drawing from a comprehensive examination of 56 respondents in the Indonesian Supreme Audit Board, the study evaluates the validity and reliability of key research variables and tests three hypotheses. The findings indicate that, when analyzed individually, auditor professional skepticism does not significantly influence fraud detection. This aligns with prior research, emphasizing potential hindrances such as tight audit schedules and limited understanding of fraud perpetrators’ motives. Conversely, the whistleblowing system is found to have a significant and positive impact on fraud detection, with reliable information sourced from insiders aiding in early fraud identification. Moreover, when auditor professional skepticism and the whistleblowing system are combined, they synergistically enhance fraud detection significantly. These insights provide valuable guidance for organizations seeking to bolster their anti-fraud measures, underlining the importance of both elements in effective fraud prevention and detection efforts.
