Abstract

Among the major Islamic sects that display such striking differences regarding the history of writing and bookkeeping of hadiths are Sunnis and Shias. Sunnis are of the view that the official writing of hadith began in the second century of hijrah. Meanwhile, in Shia literature, the writing of hadith was actually done during the Prophet's lifetime. Therefore, this paper will try to analyze the form of hadith historiography in the book 'Writing and Collection of Hadith' by Rasul Ja'fariyan. Therefore, there are three problem formulations; first, how is the genealogy of hadith historiography; second, how is the historicity of Shia and Sunni hadiths in the book of Rasul Ja'fariyan; and third, what is Ja'fariyan's view in assessing the historical flow of Sunni hadith writing from a Shia perspective. This paper is qualitative research with the primary data source, namely the book 'Writing and Collection of Hadith' by Rasul Ja'fariyan. Secondary data is in the form of books, journals, and research related to the historicity of Shia and Sunni hadiths. The results are, first, essentially the term historiography was born long before the 15th century. Therefore, the history of hadith needs to be written down so that it is known as "hadith historigraphy", covering its inception and development, narration, issues of sanad-matan, to the classification of the eras of the compilation of hadith books. Second, the tradition of writing hadith among Shiites has been increasingly intense since the 3rd century Hijri. While among Sunnis, the tradition of writing hadith officially has not yet received special attention, at which time the oral tradition was increasingly popular in transmitting hadith. Third, Rasulullah Ja'fariyan believes that Sunni scholars should not see the hadiths prohibiting the writing of hadiths as a legitimacy, which he sees as a factor of "delay" in the tradition of writing hadiths when compared to Shias.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of e-commerce in Indonesia has created a significant paradox, offering unprecedented convenience while simultaneously causing a surge in consumer disputes due to information asymmetry. This situation highlights a systemic crisis of trust, demanding a robust ethical framework. This article aims to address this ethical gap by reinterpreting the classical hadith of Hakim bin Hizam on trade transparency for the modern digital business context, demonstrating the enduring relevance of Islamic economic ethics. This library research employs an integrated hermeneutical framework, combining the classical hadith sciences of takhrij and ma’anil hadis with Fazlur Rahman’s Double Movement theory and Paul Ricoeur’s Three Worlds model. This approach facilitates a dynamic interpretation that bridges the 7th-century text with 21st-century e-commerce realities. The analysis recontextualizes key hadith concepts: physical separation (tafarruq) is interpreted as the temporal window of a return policy; lying and concealing (katamā wa kadhabā) correspond to modern information asymmetry, tadlis, and manipulative dark patterns; and the right of choice (khiyār) is actualized in marketplace features like cancellation and dispute resolution. The concept of “blessing” (barakah) is correlated with market efficiency and consumer trust. The hadith of Hakim bin Hizam is not an obsolete text but a dynamic ethical charter for the digital economy. It provides a sophisticated framework for building a more transparent, just, and sustainable e-commerce ecosystem, reframing consumer protection as a moral pursuit of barakah.

Abstract

The use of the narrative of lying in the name of the Prophet by orthodox hadith scholars has made hadith a boring scholarly product that lags behind the study of the Qur'an. This has stigmatised the hadith as a more authoritative text than the Qur'an. This paper addresses three issues: First, what is the development of hadith interpretation in the modern world? Second, what contexts must be updated in the study of hadith? Third, how to apply Gadamer's hermeneutics as a development of interpretation to the study of hadith. This research is qualitative research with a library research approach. Distinctively, this research focuses on two data models, namely primary and secondary data. The results of this study show that providing new interpretations of hadith is not a form of lying on behalf of the Prophet. As an authoritative source of Islamic law, the understanding of the hadith must always be forced to issue new knowledge like the Qur'an, which is always explored with various approaches to get a meaning from the current context. The methods developed by revisionist scholars provide brilliant ideas and make the study of sacred texts more lively and dynamic. Therefore, Hans-Georg Gadamer's hermeneutics is the most valid reference in giving a new direction for studying hadith understanding in the modern world

Abstract

This research aims to better understand, study, and deepen understanding of the etiquette and ethics of seeking knowledge according to the hadith. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative approach with historical and comparative approaches, while the analysis technique utilizes descriptive analysis techniques through a qualitative approach in the form of descriptions. The academic problem in this research concerns the procedures or attitudes that Muslims should adopt when seeking knowledge so that it benefits themselves and others, based on the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The successful research results demonstrate that seeking knowledge properly and correctly according to the teachings of Islam through the hadiths of the Prophet (peace be upon him), can guide Muslims to acquire beneficial and blessed knowledge. Morality is the most important quality a person must possess to achieve the blessing of knowledge. Through knowledge, humans can develop their potential, and knowledge is considered the starting point for developing the attitudes of every Muslim.

Abstract

The diversity of flora and fauna is one of the signs of the power of Allah the Almighty in creating His creatures. In general, the Qur’an mentions six categories of beings created by Allah: inanimate objects, plants, animals, angels, jinn, and humans. Each of these beings has its own function and role in the order of existence. Islam teaches its followers to respect animals and preserve their lives. Furthermore, Allah also commands through revelations in the Qur’an that humans must always do good (ihsan) towards all living beings, including animals. However, there is a hadith that encourages the elimination of a particular animal called the lizard (al-wazagh). This creature is categorized as a fuwaisiq (harmful or nuisance animal), and its extermination is recommended. In fact, it is stated that there is a reward for killing it, depending on whether it is killed with one, two, or three strikes. This is explained in hadiths narrated by Abu Dawud, Muslim, Ahmad, and others. This study aims to investigate the meaning contained in the hadith that recommends killing lizards. The hadith that instructs the killing of lizards requires more serious examination. Many Muslims use this hadith as a basis for action in the hope of gaining rewards, yet they may not fully understand it in terms of its text, context, and application in the modern era. This research is a library-based study using a thematic (maudhu’i) approach, to explore the hadith that encourages the killing of lizards from textual, contextual, and contemporary perspectives, so that it can be properly understood. After analyzing the hadith that instructs the killing of lizards, several conclusions were found indicating that the Prophet ordered this action because lizards are considered to be disturbing or harmful animals. Certain types of lizards were believed to pose a risk to humans, especially by potentially spreading leprosy. This hadith becomes relevant as a basis for argument when the animal in question causes disturbance or poses a danger, for example, its droppings, which are often found on the floor, tables, chairs, or even on food. Health experts state that lizard droppings contain Escherichia coli bacteria, which can cause stomach issues, diarrhea, and food poisoning if someone consumes food contaminated by them.

Abstract

Interfaith marriage is an inseparable characteristic of Indonesian culture, which is steeped in pluralism. The use of state law and customary law by society can give rise to legal pluralism. Legal pluralism is a global phenomenon encompassing various areas of human life, including law, politics, and economics. Legitimate pluralism is an inevitability that must be recognized. Within a legitimate pluralistic structure, society is faced with various legitimate decisions: standard regulations, explicit regulations, and state regulations. Interfaith relationships tend to give rise to spiritual issues and conflict due to the many differences in ways of thinking, perspectives, activities, and daily tendencies, many of which stem from real differences between the two. Consequently, interfaith marriage must be explained from a legal perspective. Being a Muslim is one of the requirements for a valid marriage in Islam. Based on this foundation, the author deems it important to focus on the truth of this event within the strict principles adopted in Indonesia. The purpose of this paper is to explain the logical consequences of interfaith marriage and the interpretation of Islamic law based on the hadith regarding interfaith marriage.
