Avant-garde: The Scientific Journal of Performing Arts Education is published periodically three times a year, namely in February, June and October, is a forum for channeling thoughts and disseminating knowledge in the realm of Performing Arts (drama, dance and music) and learning in the form of research articles, review articles/literature studies, case report articles, and conceptual or policy articles. Editors accept manuscripts that have never been published in other media from researchers, lecturers, students, and performing arts practitioners with the writing requirements as listed on the Author Guidelines page. Manuscript submissions will be evaluated and edited for uniformity in format, terms and other procedures.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze the Choreography of Sakato Plate Dance in Nagari Abai. The object of research studied was Sakato Plate Dance in Abai Sakato Art Studio, Nagari Abai. Stationery is used to record information or data obtained from sources and information related to Sakato Plate Dance. Photo Camera to take pictures of the form of motion and everything related to Sakato Plate Dance. Audio Recorder, this tool is used to record information about dance history, background, dance music and other information from informants and sources about Piring Sakato Dance. Primary data, namely data obtained from the main source, namely the choreographer of Sakato Plate Dance. Secondary data, which is supporting research data obtained through data that has been collected or the results of relevant research, then the data is also obtained from documentation owned by the Sakato Plate Dance choreographer in the form of photos, video recordings and others. The analysis steps taken are, the data is selected as needed and related to the problem posed, namely about the Sakato Plate Dance Choreography then arranged systematically and descriptively. The energy aspect used in this Sakato Plate Dance is that there is slow, medium, and strong energy this aspect aims to beautify the Sakato Plate Dance. As for the interaction that occurs in the Sakato Plate Dance, the property used in this Sakato Plate Dance is a plate with a plate size of 5. The clothes used in the Sakato Plate Dance are costumes that have been created so that dancers are easy to make movements and are not disturbed when holding plates.

Abstract

This research aims to find the symbolic meaning of the Melinting dance in Wana village, East Lampung. This research uses an interdisciplinary approach consisting of the disciplines of Anthropology of Art and Sociology of Art. The type of research used is qualitative with descriptive analysis methods. Data collection techniques consist of observation, interviews and document study. The data validity technique used is the source triangulation technique. The data analysis technique is carried out in three stages, namely by reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The research results show that the symbolic meaning of the Melinting dance can be seen from the main elements (movement) and supporting elements (musical accompaniment and clothing). The symbolic meaning of the Melinting dance in movement is being open, respecting each other, being good at maintaining attitudes and behavior, maintaining the dignity of the family, being responsible and having the courage to look after oneself. The symbolic meaning of the Melinting dance accompanied by music is an expression of joy, community skill and peaceful life. Meanwhile, the symbolic meaning of fashion is that people's behavior must be in accordance with the teachings of the Islamic religion.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and reveal how the process of learning traditional music for students with intellectual disabilities (children with special needs) in SLB Negeri 2 Padang. This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive methods. The researcher's own research instruments and assisted by supporting instruments such as stationery and digital cameras / mobile phone cameras. Collection techniques through observation or observation, interviews, documentation and literature study. The steps in analyzing data are data classification, data clarification, analyzing data, describing data and inferring data. Based on the results of the study, it was revealed that the learning planning carried out by SLB Negeri 2 Padang began with assessment, which means paying attention and sorting out the material to be taught according to student conditions and prioritizing adaptive and flexible learning according to student abilities. The method of lectures and demonstrations carried out directly by the teacher makes students better understand the material in general then continued with practice and exercises that are guided repeatedly by the teacher with patience and supported by continuous motivation and appreciation. So that with the condition of students who have special needs for the mentally impaired and music art teachers who do not come from special education, students with intellectual disabilities class IX C SLB Negeri 2 Padang are able to learn traditional music and are able to play traditional music in accordance with the expected goals.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the impact of extracurricular activities on the dancing skills of students at SMP Negeri 34 Kerinci. This type of research is a qualitative research with descriptive method. The object of research is students of SMP Negeri 34 Kerinci. The research instrument is the researcher himself. The results of the study showed that students' dancing skills were seen from their lack of self-confidence when doing dance exercises in extracurricular activities. This can be seen from as long as students get new teaching material, they seem to try and practice it well, students seem to try and practice dancing and always want to try, such as students' interest in the material to be studied, besides that students actively ask questions when they are not clear and don't understand. the results of the evaluation of dance extracurricular activities at SMP Negeri 34 Kerinci proved that out of the 34 people tested, 20 students got an A (very good) grade, 10 students got a B (good) and 4 students got a C (fair). From the results of the overall evaluation, the teacher held a meeting with the school principal so that students who got the highest score (Very Good) were included to take part in the Kerinci Regency FLS2N next year, and had the opportunity to take part in inter-school competitions such as Expo and Pensi. This shows that SMP Negeri 34 Kerinci is progressing.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to reveal and describe about the development of student interest through dance art extracurricular in Sijunjung State High School. The type used in this study is qualitative research through descriptive method. The object of this study was to directly observe the development of student interest carried out on dance art extracturcurricular at Sijunjung State High School, which followed by 30 students from class X and XI. The types of data used are primary data and secondary data in which the researcher itself as a research instrument. Data collection techniques through literature studies, observations, interviews and documentation. The results showed that the development of student interest through dance art extracurricular in the State High School 6 Sijunjung gave students a chance to develop themselves and express themselves in accordance with the interests of students in the dance art sector. Through planning, implementation and evaluation designed by schools and teachers, in the development of students of this activity is an effort in forming students’ character and personality, including cooperation, solidarity and creativity. The supporting factor for the implementation of dance art extracurricular at the 6 Sijunjung State High School is the availability of facilities and infrastructure, quality of coaches, interest in students and support from the school. The retardation factor is the absence of students’ platitude so that students slowly understand the dance moves given coaches.
