Abstract

This quantitative study investigated the research capability and attitude towards research among public school teachers in cluster 10 of Schools Division of Sta. Rosa City, Laguna, Philippines, aiming to develop a data-driven research capacity building program. Specifically, it examined the significant differences in teachers’ research capabilities and attitudes when grouped according to demographic profiles—such as age, sex, teaching position, length of service, and highest educational attainment. Furthermore, it explored the relationship between teachers’ research capabilities and their attitudes towards research in terms of research usefulness, anxiety, positive disposition, relevance in life, and perceived difficulty. The study utilized a descriptive-correlational design and employed validated survey instruments to gather data from teacher-respondents. Findings revealed that significant differences in research capability exist when grouped according to age, sex, and teaching position, particularly in the areas of methodology, results and discussion, and conclusion writing. Similarly, attitude towards research varied significantly across sex, teaching position, and length of service, especially regarding research usefulness, positive attitude, and relevance in life. Correlation analysis using Spearman’s rho indicated moderate to low positive correlations between teachers’ research capabilities and their attitudes towards research usefulness and relevance in life. However, negligible and non-significant relationships were observed in terms of research anxiety and perceived difficulty. These findings suggest that while many teachers possess basic research knowledge, their attitudes and confidence levels remain inconsistent across demographic variables. The results of this study underscore the need for differentiated and targeted research capacity building interventions. Programs must focus not only on enhancing technical skills but also on fostering positive attitudes and reducing research anxiety among teachers. A research capability training program is hereby proposed as the output of the study.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of PowerPoint learning media in increasing students' interest in learning Fiqh subjects for class VII at MTs Ainus Syamsi, Maros Regency. The background of this study is based on the low interest in learning of students which is indicated by their less active behavior, drowsiness, and lack of focus during learning. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of the study consisted of Fiqh subject teachers and class VII-C students totaling 28 people. The results of the study show that the use of PowerPoint media can significantly increase students' interest and involvement in the learning process. Attractive visual displays, such as images, colors, animations, and the insertion of quizzes or educational games, can create a more interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere. In addition to increasing students' enthusiasm for learning, PowerPoint also makes it easier for teachers to deliver practical materials, such as ablution procedures, through systematic visualization. However, the effectiveness of this media is highly dependent on the presentation design and the teacher's ability to manage the class. Technical constraints such as limited tools and variations in students' visual interests are also challenges. Overall, PowerPoint has proven to be an effective and relevant media in increasing interest in learning, especially in learning Fiqh in today's digital era.

Abstract

Motivation is one of the most important factors that influences student learning achievement. In the learning process, motivation is considered as a driving force within students that generates learning activities and provides clear direction to learning activities so that desired goals can be achieved. Guidance and counseling teachers can also play a role in overcoming low student learning motivation, one of which is by providing group counseling services. This study aims to test the effectiveness of group counseling services with motivational interviewing techniques on increasing learning motivation of grade IX students at SMP Negeri 19 Pontianak. The method used is an experiment with a Pre-Experimental Design research design of the One-Group Pretest and Post-test Design. The research sample consisted of 6 students with the lowest learning motivation from a total population of 159 students in grades A-F. The calculation results show that the pre-test percentage is 65% with a low category, while the post-test reaches 87% with a medium category. The statistical test with Paired Sample T-test produced a T count of 17.249 and a sig value (2-tailed) of 0.000, which indicates that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected, meaning that there is a significant difference between students' learning motivation before and after being given group counseling services with motivational interviewing techniques. Thus, it can be concluded that group counseling with motivational interviewing techniques is effective in increasing the learning motivation of class IX students of SMP Negeri 19 Pontianak.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relationship between the utilization of the quarterly learning plan and teachers’ proficiency under the MATATAG Curriculum. Guided by goal-setting theory, which emphasizes structured planning, the research highlights how a quarterly learning plan enables educators to establish clear objectives for their professional development. Conducted at Maranatha Christian Academy of Cabuyao and Sta. Rosa, the study involved 38 teachers from various levels of the MATATAG Curriculum, specifically kindergarten, Grade 4, and Grade 7. Findings indicate a significant correlation between the functionality of utilization of the quarterly learning plan and teachers' proficiency levels. Notably, the results show that the quarterly learning plan's effectiveness is not influenced by diverse teacher profile variables, including age, educational attainment, and years of teaching experience. This suggests it serves as a universal framework that supports all educators. Additionally, the study reveals that teachers exhibit high competency in managing their workload while aligning with curriculum and assessment standards. Consistent utilization of the quarterly learning plan enhances teachers' proficiency in achieving their objectives, boosting motivation, and facilitating constructive feedback. This process fosters ongoing professional growth and promotes accountability and commitment to their roles. Ultimately, this research highlights the importance of structured planning in education, underscoring its vital role in enhancing teacher effectiveness and improving student learning outcomes within the MATATAG Curriculum framework.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and the improvement of understanding of Social Studies (IPS) concepts in elementary school students through a literature study. The research method used is a literature study by reviewing various scientific sources such as journals, books, and relevant and credible research reports. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques to identify patterns of findings, advantages, and challenges in the application of PBL in social studies learning. The results of the study indicate that PBL is consistently related to an increase in understanding of social studies concepts, because students are directly involved in an authentic problem-solving process, thus being able to connect social concepts with real situations in their environment. PBL has also been shown to increase learning participation, curiosity, critical thinking skills, and higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). In addition, interaction and collaboration in groups make students more skilled in communicating ideas and developing solutions to social problems. However, the implementation of PBL faces several challenges such as the need for longer time, teacher readiness in designing contextual problems, and limited supporting learning resources. Overall, this study confirms that PBL is an effective, meaningful, and relevant learning strategy to improve the quality of social studies learning while supporting the development of 21st-century competencies in elementary school students.

Abstract

Insecure atau perasaan tidak percaya diri merupakan kondisi psikologis yang umum dialami banyak individu. Pemahaman terhadap nilai-nilai dalam Al-Qur’an diyakini dapat membantu seseorang menghadapi perasaan tidak aman melalui keyakinan bahwa setiap keterbatasan merupakan bagian dari ketetapan Allah yang perlu diterima dengan syukur dan ketenangan jiwa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara pemahaman nilai-nilai percaya diri dalam Al-Qur’an dengan tingkat insecure pada mahasiswi Program Studi Pendidikan Agama Islam, Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Hukum, Universitas Negeri Jakarta. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuantitatif korelasional dengan populasi sebanyak 260 mahasiswi dan sampel penelitian sebanyak 125 responden. Pengumpulan dan analisis data dilakukan menggunakan IBM SPSS Statistics 26 dan Microsoft Excel melalui uji instrumen, analisis statistik, serta uji prasyarat analisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan signifikan antara pemahaman nilai-nilai percaya diri dalam Al-Qur’an dengan tingkat insecure, dengan koefisien korelasi sebesar -0,347 yang menunjukkan hubungan negatif dengan tingkat kekuatan lemah. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa semakin tinggi pemahaman terhadap nilai percaya diri dalam Al-Qur’an, maka tingkat insecure cenderung menurun. Namun, kontribusi variabel tersebut terhadap tingkat insecure hanya sebesar 12%, sehingga bukan merupakan faktor utama dalam meminimalisir insecure. Temuan ini menunjukkan perlunya pendekatan tambahan, seperti intervensi psikologis dan dukungan sosial, di luar pendekatan kognitif-teologis untuk membantu menurunkan tingkat insecure pada mahasiswi.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the model of curriculum innovation management based on character and contextual approaches in improving the quality of early childhood education (PAUD). The background of this research is based on the suboptimal implementation of the Independent Curriculum, particularly in systematically integrating character values and contextual approaches in the learning process. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study type. Data was obtained from various scientific sources, including journals, with a minimum focus on SINTA 5 ranked journal, as these journals have undergone a process that meets established scientific standards. Additionally, data was obtained from books and previous research relevant to the topic discussed. Data collection techniques are carried out through documentation studies, while data analysis uses qualitative descriptive analysis techniques through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Research results show that character-based and contextual curriculum management innovation plays a significant role in creating learning that is more meaningful, adaptive, and relevant to children's lives. The integration of character values through habituation, role modeling, and the utilization of local wisdom has been proven to support the holistic formation of children's character. However, its implementation still faces various obstacles, such as limited teacher competence, infrastructure, and less than optimal environmental support. Therefore, innovative strategies are needed in the form of improving teacher competence, strengthening collaboration between parents and the community, and optimizing the use of the environment as a learning resource.

Abstract

The learning process can achieve success when it is aligned with the essence of education as explained in the Qur'an. However, in practice, educational institutions are still found that are not grounded in Qur'anic learning standards, resulting in a less-than-optimal learning process that fails to achieve its objectives. This study aims to analyze the essence of Islamic education in Surah Al-Jumu'ah, verse 2, through a conceptual-normative tafsir tarbawi (educational interpretation) approach. This research employs a library research method, with the Qur'an and tafsir literature as its primary sources, supported by contemporary Islamic education studies. The findings indicate that the structure of this verse encompasses three main pillars of Islamic education: Tilawah (recitation), Tazkiyah (purification), and Ta’lim (teaching), which are arranged systemically and integratively. Tilawah functions as an epistemological foundation, affirming revelation as a source of knowledge; Tazkiyah plays a role in the moral-spiritual transformation process for character building; while Ta’lim serves as the mechanism for systematizing knowledge and wisdom in the learning process. The integration of these three pillars forms a holistic Islamic educational paradigm oriented towards tawhid (monotheism) and free from the dichotomy between religious and general sciences. This study affirms that QS. Al-Jumu'ah: 2 not only represents the prophetic mission but also serves as a normative blueprint for developing a transformative and civilized curriculum and system for Islamic education.

Abstract

The presence of edmodo, as an impact of technological advancements in education, offers a valuable opportunity for Indonesian language learning, particularly in identifying information within explanatory texts. Utilizing Edmodo for this purpose requires an appropriate strategy, such as contextual teaching and learning. While previous studies have extensively explored Edmodo's utilization and contextual learning implementation, its application remains broad and predominantly focused on administrative or exact sciences rather than specific Indonesian language skills. Furthermore, research on contextual strategies continues to be dominated by conventional or offline settings. Based on these gaps, this study aims to integrate contextual strategies with Edmodo's features in an online learning environment for identifying information in explanatory texts. The research method employed is library research, utilizing a critical and in-depth analysis of relevant and linear scientific literature. The results indicate that integrating contextual strategies with Edmodo features can create an active, creative, effective, and fun learning ecosystem (PAKEM) for explanatory texts. Edmodo's features successfully accommodate the real-world exploration principles of contextual strategies, making the learning process more efficient and meaningful for students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of gamification in distance learning as a strategy to enhance students’ social interaction. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The participants consisted of two lecturers and five students from the Biology Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Malang. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that prior to the implementation of gamification, students’ social interaction was relatively low. After integrating gamification elements such as points, interactive quizzes, leaderboards, and group challenges, there was a significant increase in participation, collaboration, and communication. This study contributes to the limited body of research on gamification in Indonesian distance learning contexts, particularly in relation to social interaction. However, challenges such as excessive focus on points and technical constraints were also identified.
