Abstract

Breastfeeding is a crucial process for the growth and development of infants, yet it is not uncommon for mothers to experience difficulties in producing sufficient breast milk. This study aims to analyze the differences in breast milk production before and after applying Oketani massage in breastfeeding mothers at the Independent Practice Location of Midwife Made Sri Devi Indrawati, S. Keb., Bd. The study used a pre-experimental pretest posttest one group design and an observational method with a quantitative approach. The intervention was carried out once a day for 15-20 minutes for 3 consecutive days. The respondents consisted of 20 breastfeeding mothers with diverse characteristics regarding age, education, occupation. The results showed that before the Oketani massage, 45% of mothers had insufficient breast milk production, and 55% had adequate production. In contrast, 55% had abundant production after the massage, 40% had adequate production, and only 5% had insufficient production. The Wilcoxon statistical test indicated a significant difference with a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05, meaning that breast milk production before and after the Oketani massage showed a significant difference. Oketani massage can be an effective alternative in increasing breast milk production, especially for mothers who struggle to produce sufficient breast milk. It is concluded that Oketani massage is effective in increasing breast milk production in breastfeeding mothers. It is recommended that midwives educate breastfeeding mothers on Oketani massage so that they can try this technique with professional assistance and so that future researchers can conduct comparative studies with a control group.

Abstract

Sexual violence among adolescents remains a serious issue that requires close attention due to its potential physical, psychological, and social impacts. Several factors increase adolescents’ vulnerability to sexual violence, including limited parental supervision, poor communication within the family, and a lack of sexual education provided at home. Parents play a crucial role in shaping adolescents’ knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors by providing sexual education, instilling moral values, and monitoring their social environment as well as their use of social media. This article aims to analyze the role of parents in preventing sexual violence among adolescents through a literature review approach. The review was conducted by examining five scholarly articles published between 2020 and 2025. The findings indicate that open communication between parents and children, early sexual education, emotional support, and effective supervision contribute to increasing adolescents’ awareness of sexual violence risks and reducing their vulnerability to such incidents. Conversely, low parental involvement may increase adolescents’ susceptibility to various forms of sexual violence. Therefore, strengthening parental roles is essential in creating a safe, supportive, and educational family environment as a preventive measure against sexual violence among adolescents.

Abstract

Clinical decision making ability is one of the important competencies that nursing students must possess in providing appropriate and safe nursing care. One of the factors influencing this ability is scientific literacy. Scientific literacy helps students understand scientific concepts, interpret health data, and make decisions based on scientific evidence. This study aimed to determine the relationship between scientific literacy and clinical decision making ability among nursing students at STIKes Hamzar. This research used a quantitative method with a cross sectional design. The sample consisted of 150 respondents selected using proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Research instruments used scientific literacy questionnaires and clinical decision making questionnaires. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. The results showed that most respondents had good scientific literacy levels (62.7%) and high clinical decision making ability (58.7%). Spearman Rank test showed p-value = 0.001 (<0.05) with correlation coefficient r = 0.682, indicating that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. The conclusion of this study showed a significant relationship between scientific literacy and clinical decision making ability among nursing students at STIKes Hamzar.
