Abstract

The conventional financial system, which relies on interest-based instruments and rigid collateral requirements, often creates financial exclusion and liquidity vulnerability for grassroots communities and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This study aims to construct and analyze the effectiveness of the Islamic Financial System as an alternative architecture for strengthening the economic foundation of society in Indonesia. The research employs a qualitative approach through library research using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The analysis was conducted on 25 reputable scientific articles published over the last ten years, focusing on the performance of Islamic financial instruments in Indonesia. Data were analyzed using content analysis and thematic analysis of reputable scholarly literature, secondary data, and relevant regulations. The findings reveal that community economic empowerment can be optimally achieved through integrative governance of two main pillars: the Islamic commercial sector (al-tijari), which applies the principle of risk-and-reward sharing, and the social philanthropy sector (al-ijtima'i), which is based on productive Zakat, Infaq, Sadaqah, and Waqf (ZISWAF). The synergy of this dual-pillar financial system, managed under the principles of transparency and accountability, is capable of promoting the structural transformation of underprivileged communities toward sustainable financial independence, thereby realizing distributive justice.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the critical role of service quality in the Islamic banking industry, particularly how customer experience and customer engagement can affect customer satisfaction. The purpose of this research is to analyze the partial and simultaneous influence of customer experience and customer engagement on customer satisfaction among customers of Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) in Kendari. This type of research uses a quantitative approach with an explanatory survey method. Data was collected through a questionnaire distributed to 100 respondents using a purposive sampling technique, and then analyzed using multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS v 27 statistical software. The conclusion of this study is that both customer experience and customer engagement have a positive and significant influence on customer satisfaction, where customer experience is found to be the dominant factor. These findings imply that the bank needs to prioritize the creation of positive sensory and emotional service experiences while building interactive connections to enhance and maintain sustainable customer satisfaction.

Abstract

This descriptive qualitative library research aims to comparatively examine the theoretical concepts and practical implementation of sale-based and profit-sharing contracts in modern Islamic banking. Secondary data consisting of regulations and scientific journal articles published between 2020 and 2025 were analyzed using content analysis techniques. The findings reveal a portfolio discrepancy caused by banks’ pragmatic tendency to prioritize sale-based contracts (murabahah) due to their profit certainty and risk mitigation advantages. Specifically, procedural deviations were identified in murabahah practices, including legalistic formalities (hiyal) in wakalah contracts that overlook actual ownership transfer (qabdh), as well as the potential risk of riba al-nasi'ah in debt restructuring. In contrast, profit-sharing contracts (mudharabah and musyarakah), which ideally embody the principle of risk sharing, remain marginal due to challenges associated with information asymmetry (moral hazard) and the complexity of monitoring mechanisms. The novelty of this study lies in its integrative approach, which goes beyond classical normative fiqh doctrines by providing a critical assessment of the contemporary operational realities of Islamic banking.

Abstract

Fraud is one of the major challenges faced by Islamic financial institutions because it can undermine integrity, stability, and public trust, despite their operations being based on the principles of trustworthiness (amanah), justice, and transparency. This study aims to analyze the types of fraud occurring in Islamic financial institutions, identify the factors contributing to such fraud, and examine prevention strategies from the perspective of Islamic economics. The research employs a qualitative method using a library research approach, drawing on various sources, including scientific journals, books, and relevant academic publications. The findings indicate that fraud in Islamic financial institutions includes asset misappropriation, abuse of authority, money laundering, collusion in financial statement fraud, and cyberattacks. The factors contributing to fraud consist of pressure, opportunity, rationalization, weak implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG), and inadequate understanding and application of Islamic principles. Fraud prevention strategies include strengthening internal control systems, optimizing audits and whistleblowing systems, enhancing supervision by the Sharia Supervisory Board, enforcing strict sanctions, and internalizing the values of trustworthiness, integrity, and Sharia compliance within organizational culture. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the forms of fraud and prevention efforts, serving as a reference for the development of more effective governance and control systems in Islamic financial institutions.

Abstract

The presence of modern retail stores in Central Kalimantan has intensified competition for micro-enterprises, reducing their competitiveness and limiting access to capital. This study examines the impact of the Z-Mart Kalteng Berkah Program on improving the economic conditions of mustahik in Palangka Raya City and evaluates its empowerment effectiveness. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed through field research, with primary data collected from in-depth interviews involving four key informants, including BAZNAS program managers, field facilitators, and beneficiaries. The findings reveal that the program significantly increased beneficiaries' daily income from approximately IDR 200,000–300,000 to IDR 400,000–500,000. Support in the form of display shelves and retail banners enhanced the competitiveness of small shops, while mentoring improved financial management literacy and economic independence. Nevertheless, more comprehensive market analysis is needed to reduce unsold inventory (dead stock), accompanied by continuous mentoring. Overall, the Z-Mart Kalteng Berkah Program represents an effective productive zakat empowerment model by integrating business capital assistance with capacity building.
