Abstract

Background: The Indonesian Health Survey states that oral health problems in the population aged ≥ 3 years are still high. Dental care is important requirement for the maintenance of children's health. One of the psychological problems that often occurs in children when undergoing dental treatment is anxiety. Anxiety towards dental care is also called dental anxiety. To overcome this anxiety can be done by fun learning education through field trip study. Field trip study aims to introduce children to real life, provide new experiences and make it an interesting place to learn.Objective : Targeting kindergartens and early childhood schools aims to invite the school community to think, behave and act to build and develop themselves to care with their dental and oral health.Method: In this community service activity, children are invited to take an educational tour to the Islamic Dental Hospital-Sultan Agung (RSIGM-SA) to recognize oral health facilities, increase knowledge about oral health and reduce dental anxiety in children.Result: Children's dental anxiety level evaluation after conducting an educational tour at RSIGM-SA, showed that the majority of children have a low level of anxiety with a high level of knowledge about oral health.Conclusion: Educational tours can be one of the concrete applications of Tell-Show Do method in children oral health management.

Abstract

AbstrakLatar Belakang: Lansia adalah seseorang yang telah mencapai usia 60 (enam puluh) tahun ke atas. Indonesia termasuk negara dengan jumlah penduduk lanjut usia yang terus meningkat. Lansia rentan mengalami lesi rongga mulut dikarenakan ketahanan mukosa terhadap jejas berkurang. Kelurahan Kaligawe Kecamatan Gayamsari Kota Semarang, memiliki jumlah lansia hampir sepertiga dari total penduduk pada tahun 2024. Tujuan dari artikel ini adalah Untuk memberikan edukasi keluhan rongga mulut yang lazim pada lansia di kelurahan Kaligawe. Metode: Kegiatan edukasi kepada dilakukan di Kantor Kelurahan Kaligawe Kecamatan Gayamsari Kota Semarang. Undangan untuk mengikuti kegiatan dikhususkan kepada Masyarakat yang berusia 55 tahun ke atas baik laki-laki maupun Perempuan. Edukasi menggunakan audiovisual dengan materi dari powerpoint dan leaflet tentang Keluhan Rongga Mulut yang Lazim pada Lansia dilanjutkan pemeriksaan fisik dan rongga mulut serta komunikasi, informasi dan edukasi terkait keluhan rongga mulut yang diderita. Hasil: Kegiatan edukasi ini telah dilakukan dan diikuti oleh sekitar 85 orang. Berdasarkan hasil pemeriksaan, dari 85 orang lansia, terdapat 69 orang yang memiliki keluhan di rongga mulut, diantaranya yaitu 5 orang yang mengeluhkan gingivitis, 38 orang mengeluhkan periodontitis, 15 orang mengeluhkan burning mouth syndrome, 10 orang mengeluhkan xerostomia dan 1 orang mengeluhkan denture stomatitis. Kesimpulan: Edukasi tentang keluhan rongga mulut yang lazim pada lansia yang diberikan melalui penyuluhan telah dilakukan dan dapat disimpulkan efektif dalam upaya meningkatkan pengetahuan lansia Kelurahan Kaligawe Kota Semarang. Keluhan rongga mulut yang paling banyak adalah periodontitis, diikuti dengan burning mouth syndrome dan xerostomia. Kata kunci: edukasi, keluhan rongga mulut, manifestasi oral, lansia AbstractBackground: The elderly are someone who has reached the age of 60 (sixty) years and over. Indonesia is a country with an increase in the population of elderly. The elderly are vulnerable to oral cavity lesions due to the decreased of oral mucosa resistance. Kelurahan Kaligawe, Gayamsari District, Semarang City, has almost one third of the elderly from total population in 2024. The purpose of this article is to provide an educational education of the Oral Cavity that is common in the elderly in Kaligawe Village. Method: Education activities are carried out at the Kaligawe Village Office in Gayamsari District, Semarang City. The invitation to participate in the activity was devoted to people aged 55 years and over both men and women. Education uses audiovisuals with material from powerpoint and leaflets about the common complaints of oral cavity in the elderly followed by physical examination and oral cavity as well as communication, information and education related to the complaints of the oral cavity. Results: This education activity followed by around 85 people. Based on the examination, there were 69 people who had complaints in the oral cavity, including 5 people who complained gingivitis, 38 people of periodontitis, 15 people of burning mouth syndrome, 10 people of xerostomia and 1 person of denture stomatitis. Conclusion: Education of the Complaints of the Oral Cavity commonly in the elderly given through counseling has been carried out and can be concluded effectively in an effort to increase the knowledge of the elderly of Kaligawe Village, Semarang City. Abstract

Background: Dental cavities or caries are ranked first in oral diseases in the world population. In Indonesia, RISKESDAS 2018 data shows that the greatest prevalence of caries is in the age groups of 5 years (93.4%), 12 years (68.8%), 15 years (68.1%), 35-44 years (92.1%) and 65-74 years (95.2%). Dental plaque control can use natural resources that are widely available in Indonesia. However, the proper use of natural materials and adequate knowledge of the advantages and disadvantages of each type of natural resource are very important for the success of dental plaque control in the community.Objective : This community service is to provide education about natural ingredients for dental health as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each ingredient to the Kaligawe Village community and provide education about oral health and the importance of maintaining dental hygiene to maintain oral homeostasis.Method: The methods used to increase community knowledge and awareness are counseling and interactive discussions.Result: The results of this community service include an increase in understanding and community interest.Conclusion: This educational activity has succeeded in increasing the knowledge and awareness of the Kaligawe Village community about the importance of dental hygiene and the use of natural substances.
