Abstract

The mangrove area in Donggala Regency is a unique and potential area, but the area tends to be threatened by increasing mining activities in the area. Management of the mangrove area in Donggala Regency as an ecotourism area is an alternative form as an innovative effort to maintain environmental functions as a provider of environmental services in order to remain sustainable. This study was aimed at analyzing the Local Community Ecological Knowledge (LCEK) pertaining to mangrove ecosystems and ecotourism development in Donggala Regency. The study used a survey method, utilizing the analysis of the tourism suitability index (IKW) and the carrying capacity of the area (DDK). Community knowledge and perceptions were based on a Likert scale scoring system. The results of the study and the discussion showed that people in Donggala Regency had local ecological knowledge of mangrove forests, especially mangrove habitats, mangrove damage factors and the impact of mangrove damage was better than the function of mangroves. Utilization of mangrove ecosystems in Donggala Regency is very diverse, ranging from the utilization of mangrove stems, fruits, leaves and roots and fishery products such as small fish and shellfish. The community's understanding of ecotourism activities was very good and they agreed with the ecotourism activities that were carried out.

Abstract

“Peusuel” is a traditional massage practice performed on pregnant women in Tatar Sunda, believed to have various benefits for maternal and fetal health. This study aims to explore how Peusuel is implemented, understand the experiences of pregnant women who undergo Peusuel, and evaluate its impact on their physical and emotional well-being. The observed variables include physical discomfort levels (such as back pain, swelling, and fatigue), emotional states (including anxiety and mood changes), and social connectedness. The key parameters measured were frequency and duration of the Peusuel sessions and the involvement of community members in the process. Using qualitative research methods, particularly in-depth interviews and participant observations, data were collected from pregnant women who have experienced Peusuel, as well as from traditional practitioners and family members involved. Data were analyzed through thematic analysis to identify recurring patterns and insights. This analysis revealed that Peusuel not only helps reduce physical discomfort during pregnancy but also contributes to emotional relief by alleviating anxiety and stress. Additionally, it strengthens social and cultural ties between pregnant women and their communities, creating a sense of belonging and support. This study provides important insights into the preservation and development of the traditional practice of Peusuel in the context of modern health, while also highlighting its potential integration as a complementary approach in maternal care.

Abstract

Optimal production of breast milk is essential to support the health and development of babies. One of the efforts that can be made to increase breast milk production is through the nutrition of breastfeeding mothers. This study aims to determine the effect of consumption of banana kepok blossoms on breast milk production. The study was conducted at PMB Midwife Fitri, Ciamis, using a pre-test and post-test design in an intervention group consisting of 15 breastfeeding mothers. The results showed that the consumption of banana kepok blossoms could significantly increase breast milk production, from an average of 54 mL before the intervention to 99 mL after the intervention. These findings provide an alternative to natural ingredients-based nutrition to support breast milk production in breastfeeding mothers.

Abstract

This study examines students' perceptions on sustainable entrepreneurship within cultural diversity context in Asia, focusing on ecological, social, and cultural dimensions. By surveying 144 students from various faculties who attended an international public lecture, the research revealed a comprehensive understanding of sustainability among the participants. The analysis indicated a strong correlation among the three dimensions, suggesting that students view sustainability as an interconnected concept. However, the study also found significant differences in perceptions across different faculties, showing that educational background influences students' understanding on sustainability. These findings emphasize the need to integrate sustainability education into university curricula to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become sustainable entrepreneurs. Additionally, the results of this study offer insights for developing entrepreneurship training programs that are more relevant to the Asian context, encouraging the establishment of businesses that positively impact society and the environment.

Abstract

This study systematically reviewed the literature linking mathematics learning to STEM education in the context of conservation. An in-depth analysis of 200 scientific articles revealed a significant correlation between STEM and conservation efforts. However, research specifically exploring the central role of mathematics in conservation-based learning was relatively limited. The study successfully identified several best practices, such as using mathematical modeling to analyze complex environmental phenomena and developing problem-based projects that integrate multiple STEM disciplines. However, there was a significant knowledge gap regarding optimal learning design, selection of relevant conservation topics, and comprehensive evaluation of the impact of this learning on students’ conceptual understanding and behavioral changes. To fill this gap, further research was needed to develop a more comprehensive framework integrating mathematics into conservation-based STEM learning. This framework was expected to guide educators in designing effective and meaningful learning experiences and allow for more systematic evaluation of learning outcomes. In addition, future research should also explore the role of digital technologies in supporting conservation-based mathematics learning, as well as the challenges and opportunities faced in implementing this approach across cultural and social contexts.
