Abstract

The development of built-up land in Southwest Maluku Regency (MBD) has been steadily increasing each year, as evidenced by the analysis of land cover changes in 2012, 2017, and 2022. Understanding the development and changes in land cover is crucial for predicting future land cover patterns and for preventing or mitigating potential negative impacts. This study aims to analyze the land cover changes in the Southwest Maluku Regency. The analysis of land cover changes in Southwest Maluku Regency was conducted using Landsat 4-5 TM, Landsat 8 OLI, and SPOT 7 imagery, which involved pre-processing and land cover classification processes based on the SNI 7645:2010 standard. The results of the study indicate that built-up land in MBD is generally concentrated in the Moa Lakor District, Letti Island District, and Terselatan Islands District. Tiakur Village has experienced the most rapid development of built-up land in MBD, as it is the capital of the Southwest Maluku Regency.

Abstract

The rapid growth of cities, coupled with increasing urbanization, has led to numerous problems. This study employs a literature review method based on critical analysis and in-depth knowledge of relevant literature. The findings of this study indicate that cities in Indonesia are still plagued by poverty, with various social issues creating opportunities for criminal activities, violations of moral norms, irregular land use, and other social phenomena. Additionally, the expansion of slum settlements has further deteriorated the quality of life, contributing to environmental degradation. The urban heat island effect, driven by population growth, the increase in concrete infrastructure development, excessive energy use, and the widespread use of transportation, also exacerbates these issues.

Abstract

Community forests, by definition, are located on privately owned land and are managed by the local people, so there should be no tenure issues related to them. However, several factors can trigger land conflicts. First, community forests are sometimes established under profit-sharing schemes between different landowners and forest farmers who work the land. Still, the agreements are often informal and need to be in accordance with the Basic Agrarian Law (UUPA). Second, community forests planted on idle state-owned land have the potential to cause conflicts between the government and the people. Third, there are conflicts between different managers of community forests. Solutions to prevent and resolve potential tenure conflicts in community forests include: first, providing education and assistance and resolving disputes through negotiation and mediation. Second, state-owned land can be converted into private property (either for individuals or groups), and the land can be designated as HTR (Community Plantation Forests) and HKm (Community Forests). Third, encouraging the clear demarcation of land/forest boundaries used, creating a proportional social structure within the production dimension, ensuring clear land ownership and supervision, and strengthening the institutions of community forest farmers by the gove

Abstract

The Taniwel area is one of the regions on West Seram Island with significant marble potential, though it remains largely unknown to the general public. The marble potential in the Taniwel area includes Nakaela Mountain, as well as marbleized limestone at Mount Lesiela (Kasieh) and Mount Patola (Saweli) in Taniwel District, West Seram Regency. The purpose of this research is to estimate the marble reserves at Mount Lesiela (Kasieh) and Mount Patola (Saweli). The methods used in this study include reference/literature review, field investigation, laboratory analysis methods (AAS, Titrimetry, and Fire Assay), and data evaluation and analysis. The research results indicate that the estimated (possible) marbleized limestone reserves at Mount Lesiela (Kasieh) are 1,055,360,000 tons, and the estimated (possible) marbleized limestone reserves at Mount Patola (Saweli) are 68,640,000 tons.

Abstract

Multicultural education in schools is crucial for creating an inclusive, tolerant, and harmonious society in Indonesia. In a multicultural learning environment, students can gain a broader understanding of the world, learn to communicate with people from different cultures and build harmonious relationships. The implementation of multicultural education in schools can also help address discrimination and intolerance that still exist in society and better prepare students to face the challenges of an increasingly complex world. To achieve the implementation of multicultural education in schools steps such as raising awareness and understanding of the importance of multicultural education, creating spaces for dialogue and communication with students, parents, and the community, and providing adequate support and resources are necessary. Through the implementation of multicultural education in schools, students can build mutual understanding, tolerance, and cooperation with people from different cultures, thereby contributing to a more inclusive, tolerant, and harmonious society.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of the presence of Pattimura University in Poka Village on the economic conditions of the surrounding community, with a focus on the boarding house business as one of the emerging economic effects. The research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The results indicate that the presence of the university has had a positive impact on the economic conditions of the local community, such as increased business opportunities and job prospects. The boarding house business in Poka Village serves as an example of how business opportunities have developed in tandem with the growing student population. This positive impact is reflected in the increased income and well-being of the community. However, there are also negative effects, such as population density and high mobility. This study provides insights into the complex relationship between the presence of a university and local economic development, highlighting the need for wise management to optimize positive impacts and address negative ones.
