Abstract

At the Dar Al-Falah V Institute in Jombang, Arabic is taught only once a week, specifically on Saturday night for the first level of the Intermediate Religious class. If the learning takes place only once a week without any additional study hours, then the utilization of this subject is still not optimal. However, if the students are serious about learning Arabic, they will succeed in mastering the Arabic language and writing. In addition to that, the teacher must also have motivation or provide encouragement so that the students remain persistent. Motivation and providing understanding are essential for learning to write in Arabic, because this subject truly requires the teacher’s skill in classroom management. This study explores the implementation of the dictation method as a strategy to enhance students’ writing skills in Arabic. The process integrates multiple instructional components, including reading, writing, and question-and-answer techniques. The dictation activity is conducted in stages. Initially, students copy text intermittently from books or the board. In the next stage, students write from memory after the source is removed. Finally, they engage in blind dictation, writing down what is read aloud without visual aid or spelling assistance. This method aims to assess students’ listening comprehension, retention, and ability to spell Arabic words correctly. The primary goal is not only to test students’ capabilities and perseverance but also to provide targeted support that enables them to overcome difficulties and improve their writing accuracy. This study investigates the implementation of the dictation method as a strategy to improve students’ Arabic writing skills at the Dar Al-Falah V Institute in Jombang. The dictation process is carried out through an integration of various instructional components, including reading, writing, and question-and-answer techniques. The stages of dictation begin with students copying segments of text from a book or the board. In the next phase, students are asked to write from memory after the source material is removed. The final stage involves blind dictation, in which students write down what is dictated to them without any visual reference or spelling assistance. This approach emphasizes listening and spelling accuracy, aiming to test students’ comprehension, memory, and perseverance. Importantly, the purpose of this method is not only to assess students’ capabilities but also to provide them with the necessary support to overcome difficulties and improve their writing accuracy in Arabic.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of discovery learning model in learning maharah qira'ah, the development of students' critical thinking skills, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors of its implementation. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The results showed that the discovery learning model was applied through group work, with activities to find the meaning of mufrodat, compose sentences, understand the meaning of the text, and conclude the content of the reading. The results of group work were presented and discussed with the teacher. Students' critical thinking skills improved, shown through independence, curiosity, and the ability to understand and communicate the content of the text. Supporting factors include good communication, learning motivation, and adequate facilities, while inhibiting factors include egoism in the group, differences in understanding, and time constraints. This study illustrates that the application of discovery learning can be an effective alternative learning model to increase students' engagement and critical thinking skills in qira'ah learning.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the use of role-playing to develop students' speaking skills and to determine the impact of role-playing on developing speaking skills for second-grade students at the State Islamic Junior High School 6 Vedi. The research method used by the researcher in this study is an experimental research method with a pre-test and post-test design for one group. The data collection methods used by the researcher are observation, questionnaire, and test. The use of role-playing to develop students' speaking skills is based on the result of the t-test (negative) greater than the t-table (negative) or (7.999 < 1.701). The use of role-playing to influence students' speaking skills at the State Islamic Junior High School 6 Vedi indicates that students' desire is high. Role-playing facilitates their understanding and comprehension of the speaking skill material, especially as they study it in an enjoyable and non-boring manner.

Abstract

This study examines the teaching of classical Arabic books (kutub al-turath) at Al-Furqan Islamic Institute, Jombang. Classical texts are a key component of Arabic education, essential for developing students’ ability to read formal Arabic (Fusha). However, many students find these texts difficult and boring due to monotonous teaching methods, resulting in decreased interest and comprehension. The research investigates: 1) how classical texts are taught at the institute, 2) teachers’ creative strategies in delivering these materials, and 3) how these innovations improve students’ reading skills. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. Results show that classical texts are taught twice a week using structured methods such as discussions and mind maps to enhance understanding. Teachers creatively incorporate interactive games, competitions, and oral tests to make learning engaging and relevant. These innovations improve students’ motivation, comprehension, and connection to the texts as life guides, not just linguistic content. Reading classical texts also supports students' spiritual growth, and creative strategies like role-play, virtual scavenger hunts, and group discussions effectively improve their reading abilities and engagement.

Abstract

To understand the Arabic language, individuals have varying abilities—some find it easy to comprehend, while others struggle. This is because Arabic is not the native language in Indonesia; differences in letters, pronunciation, and writing systems make it challenging for many to grasp. Therefore, Arabic is considered a foreign language and is one of the subjects that must be taught in Islamic schools, particularly madrasahs, to help students gain a deeper understanding of the language.Based on this background, the research formulates the following problems:(1) What is the effect of using flashcard media in Arabic language subjects for grade VIII students at Darul Ulum School in Bogor?(2) Does the use of flashcards in Arabic language lessons improve the vocabulary memorization ability of grade VIIIC students at Darul Ulum School in Bogor? This study employed a quantitative method using a pre-experimental design (one-group pretest-posttest). The sample consisted of 34 eighth-grade students from Darul Ulum Junior High School in Cimahpar, Bogor. Data collection techniques included observation, test questions, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistical analysis and inferential non-parametric statistical analysis with the help of SPSS 16.0 through the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test.
