Abstract

The increasing complexity of humanitarian crises has brought renewed attention to the efficiency and adaptability of humanitarian logistics and disaster relief supply chains. This narrative review aims to synthesize recent literature concerning the integration of emerging technologies and multi-stakeholder coordination in enhancing disaster response, with a particular focus on developing countries. Using a structured keyword search across academic databases such as Scopus and Google Scholar, the review includes empirical and conceptual studies addressing pre-disaster planning, warehouse distribution, technological integration, and ethical dimensions. Key findings reveal that systemic obstacles, including bureaucratic inefficiencies, fragmented policies, and institutional misalignment, continue to hinder rapid and effective disaster response. In contrast, technological innovations such as IoT and blockchain, alongside digitalized information systems, improve logistical transparency and inter-agency coordination. The review also emphasizes the importance of ethical decision-making and human resource management in ensuring equitable aid delivery. Models employing simulation, multi-criteria analysis, and robust optimization have demonstrated strong potential in enhancing prepositioning and real-time operations. Despite these advances, gaps persist in empirical validation, grassroots engagement, and long-term impact assessments. These insights offer practical implications for humanitarian agencies and policymakers, including the implementation of real-time digital tracking systems, simplification of inter-agency protocols, and prioritization of volunteer training initiatives to enhance logistical agility. By integrating ethical, technological, and systemic perspectives, humanitarian logistics systems can become more resilient and responsive to future global emergencies.

Abstract

Logistics hubs are integral to regional economic development, offering significant contributions to growth through improved connectivity, trade facilitation, and job creation. This study aims to explore the economic, infrastructural, and governance-related aspects of logistics hubs, synthesizing empirical findings from a wide range of global case studies. Using a systematic review methodology, the study examines the role of multimodal infrastructure, digital technologies, and public-private partnerships in optimizing the performance of logistics hubs. Key findings show that while logistics hubs stimulate economic growth and enhance regional competitiveness, systemic barriers such as regulatory inefficiencies and financial constraints limit their full potential. Additionally, the integration of sustainable practices and social governance is critical for ensuring long-term success. The study highlights the importance of a holistic, cross-sectoral approach to logistics hub development and offers policy recommendations for overcoming existing challenges. Future research should focus on underrepresented regions and adopt interdisciplinary methodologies to address the complex dynamics of logistics hubs in diverse contexts.

Abstract

This paper explores the current state of digital logistics education and training, emphasizing the integration of advanced technologies such as virtual reality, digital twins, and artificial intelligence. The purpose of the study is to examine the impact of these technologies on learning outcomes and to identify the barriers that limit their effectiveness. A comprehensive literature review was conducted using databases such as Scopus and Google Scholar, with a focus on studies related to digital education, logistics, and technological adoption. The findings reveal that technologies such as virtual reality (VR) significantly improve engagement and concept mastery in logistics simulations, while artificial intelligence (AI) enhances personalized learning pathways. However, challenges such as insufficient infrastructure. The review highlights the importance of aligning curricula with industry needs and fostering greater collaboration between academia and industry. Policy recommendations include investing in digital infrastructure, enhancing educator training, and designing inclusive curricula that can accommodate diverse student populations. The study concludes with recommendations for future research to explore the long-term effects of digital training and the development of standardized evaluation methods for emerging educational technologies in logistics.

Abstract

This study investigates the integration of advanced technologies, such as big data, machine learning, and the Internet of Things (IoT), within intelligent transportation systems (ITS) in smart cities. The purpose is to identify the key factors influencing the successful implementation of ITS, focusing on technological, policy, and socio-cultural dynamics. A narrative review methodology was employed, synthesizing findings from multiple studies across various regions. The results reveal that while technological advancements have improved urban mobility, the success of ITS depends on the alignment of policies, infrastructure, and public perception. Key barriers include bureaucratic inertia, fragmented governance, and regulatory inflexibility. The study suggests that adaptive regulatory frameworks, enhanced public-private partnerships, and community involvement are essential for overcoming these challenges. Future research should focus on integrating socio-political factors with technological development to create more holistic solutions. The findings underline the need for a multidisciplinary approach to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of smart transportation systems.

Abstract

This narrative review examines the integration of health systems, the role of public-private partnerships, and the effectiveness of disease surveillance mechanisms in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The aim is to synthesize the current body of literature on these critical health system components, exploring both structural and operational barriers that hinder effective policy implementation. The review employs a narrative methodology, gathering evidence from peer-reviewed studies, policy evaluations, and systematic reviews. The results highlight the importance of inter-organizational coordination, data integration, and stakeholder engagement in improving health system performance. Moreover, the review identifies key systemic factors such as infrastructure quality, governance coherence, and data capacity as pivotal in determining the success of health interventions. The discussion underscores the need for integrated policy frameworks that align central and local health efforts, as well as the importance of community-based participatory governance in enhancing policy effectiveness. The review concludes by recommending strategies to overcome structural barriers, including digital health system integration and improved multi-sectoral coordination. Future research should focus on longitudinal studies and the integration of qualitative data to further inform policy-making and enhance system resilience.
