Abstract

The development of social media has transformed mothers’ behavior in accessing child health information. The increasing use of social media as a health information source highlights the importance of digital health literacy in evaluating the credibility and quality of digital health information. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between mothers’ digital health literacy and the utilization of social media as a source of child health information. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Article searches were conducted through Scopus, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, and SpringerLink using keywords related to digital health literacy, social media, mothers, and child health information. The reviewed articles were published between 2020 and 2025 and selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria according to the PICO framework. A total of 10 articles meeting the eligibility criteria were analyzed using thematic synthesis techniques. The findings indicated that mothers with higher levels of digital health literacy were more capable of evaluating the credibility of health information, comparing multiple information sources, and critically utilizing social media for child healthcare decision-making. In contrast, lower digital health literacy increased the risk of exposure to health misinformation on social media. This study concludes that digital health literacy has an important relationship with the utilization of social media as a source of child health information. The findings provide important implications for developing digital health literacy education programs to support safer and evidence-based use of social media in child healthcare.

Abstract

Adolescent violence and emotional problems have become important public health concerns, while existing support services remain limited, fragmented, and often inaccessible for adolescents. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of community-based digital support through the SPEAKUP! platform in improving violence prevention awareness and emotional well-being among adolescents. A randomized controlled trial was conducted among 416 adolescents from senior high schools and vocational schools in Pare District, Kediri Regency, Indonesia. Participants were randomly assigned into intervention and control groups. The intervention group received access to the SPEAKUP! platform for four weeks, including educational videos, self-screening, positive discussion forums, emotion journaling, and relaxation guidance, while the control group received conventional health education. Data were collected using validated questionnaires measuring violence prevention knowledge, attitudes, and emotional well-being before and after the intervention. The findings showed significant improvements in violence prevention knowledge and attitudes among adolescents in the intervention group compared with the control group. Emotional well-being also improved significantly, indicated by reduced emotional and behavioral difficulty scores after the intervention. The results suggest that community-based digital support provides adolescents with accessible, private, and engaging psychosocial support while strengthening preventive behaviors related to violence. Integrating digital support platforms into adolescent community health programs may enhance violence prevention and emotional support services in schools and community settings.

Abstract

Hospitalization in preschool children can cause anxiety, fear, psychological stress, and uncooperative behavior during hospital treatment. Medical play is one of the atraumatic care approaches used to reduce the negative impacts of hospitalization on children. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of medical play interventions as an atraumatic care approach for hospitalized preschool children. The research method used was a Systematic Literature Review following the PRISMA guidelines. Articles were searched through the PubMed, Scopus, and ScienceDirect databases using keywords related to medical play, atraumatic care, preschool children, and hospitalization. The articles included were primary studies published between 2020–2025 that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. A total of 9 primary articles were analyzed in this study. The synthesis results showed that medical play interventions were effective in reducing anxiety, fear, hospitalization stress, and psychological trauma in preschool children. In addition, medical play also improved children’s cooperative behavior during medical and nursing procedures. The forms of intervention included therapeutic play, storytelling, pretend play, and the use of toy medical equipment. The study concludes that medical play is an effective non-pharmacological intervention in the implementation of atraumatic care for hospitalized children. These findings can serve as a basis for the development of evidence-based nursing in pediatric nursing services and support the optimal implementation of atraumatic care in pediatric wards.
