Abstract

This study aims to describe efforts to increase student creativity through the application of Mind Mapping models in fiqh learning at MIN 3 Kota Medan. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive study method. Observation, interview, and document study techniques are three research data acquisition techniques. Then, the data were analyzed using an interactive analysis model, through the steps of data collection, data sorting, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the application of the Mind Mapping model makes it easier for educators in the thematic learning process, because it stimulates students to develop their creativity based on the spirit of group learning. Likewise, there are obstacles in the implementation of the learning model, namely the low focus of students in group activities, the teacher's difficulty controlling student learning behavior, and there are some students who like to disturb their friends.

Abstract

Pronunciation is the  production  of  speech  sounds for  communication. For many students, the English speech sounds are confusing. There are many differences of pronunciation  between  English  and  Indonesian.  Therefore,  there  are  many students  of  Junior  High  School  especially  students  of  SMP  Muhammadiyah  07 Medan that pronounce   English   words   incorrectly.   This   study   was   conducted under   the consideration that pronouncing English words plays an important role. Most of the students may have problems to pronounce part since English is not our native language, although they get an English subject in their school and they can‟t master the English pronunciation well. The research was carried out through Classroom Action Research (CAR) and the sample of the research is the VIII-1 grader students of SMP Muhammadiyah 07 Medan. In collecting data, this research uses questionnaire, observation sheet, diary notes, test and photography. The students‟  achievement in the post test II & I is higher than that of the pre test with the mean score 82,70 > 76,09 > 69,83. In doing this study, the writer used an oral test method or sound of production. The action was done through teaching learning process. All of the teaching learning process were presented by the help of songs. After the treatment by using songs in each cycle, the students‟ achievement in pronouncing English words improved. It proven by the percentage of students‟ who get score up to 75 in pre-test and post-test I and post-test II. It was 20% students in pre-test, 44% students in post-test I, and 88% in post-test II. Based on this study, it was found that the use of songs in teaching English was effective and very beneficial to improve the students‟ pronunciation.

Abstract

This research was conducted to describe the improvement of students’ vocabulary mastery through Total Physical Response method at seventh grade students of MTs Hidayatussalam  in  2020/2021  academic  year.  The  research  design  used  was  Classroom Action Research (CAR). The participants of this research consisted of 25 students of VII-1. In this research, the English teacher of MTs Hidayatussalam act as the observer. The research conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisted of two meetings. The research was carried out through four steps; planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. There are two kinds of data, qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data were taken from by the interview and observation sheet result, diary notes, and documentation. Meanwhile, quantitative data were obtained from the students' score of vocabulary test, include pre-test, post-test I, and post-test II.  The  result  of  data  analysis  indicated  that  there  was  the  improvement  of  students’ vocabulary mastery through Total Physical Response method. The students achieved better score in every cycle. The minimum passing grade (KKM) in this school was 75. From the data analyzing, it showed the mean of the pre-test was 56,3, the mean of post test I was 79,4, and the mean of post test II was 83,2. It can be seen that the mean improved in each cycle. The percentage of students’ score also increased. In the pre-test, there were just 5 students who achieved score ≥75 or passed the test (20%). In the post-test I, 17 students successfully passed the test (68%). From the pre test to post test I the increase was 48%. In the post-test II, there were 23 students who passed the test (92%). The increase from the post test I was 24%. The percentage of students’ score improved and getting higher in every cycle. In conclusion, the students’ vocabulary mastery improved by the implementation of the TPR method. Based on  qualitative  data  analysis,  it  showed  that  the  students  give  positive  responses  to  this research. The students enjoy and enthusiast in teaching learning activity. It was found that the implementation of Total Physical Response method can make students easier to memorize the vocabulary, and it makes them can improve their vocabulary mastery. In other words, the Total Physical Response method effective to improve the students’ vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

Improving teacher performance is the upstream of the success of the learning process, and outstanding students are downstream of the process. This study aims to describe planning for improving teacher performance and optimizing learning. This type of research belongs to the category of qualitative approach with literature study method. Study analysis materials and data sources were obtained from internet-based searches with credible pages, such as Google Scholar, DOAJ, Moraref, and SINTA. The data materials in question include books, scientific articles, proceedings, and student final assignments. Furthermore, the validity or validity of the data is checked using data materials (scientific). The results of this study indicate that planning for improving teacher performance and optimizing learning through the stages of greedy organization, work intensification, performativity, and understanding organizational strengths.

Abstract

This study was aimed to find out improving students’ vocabulary mastery by using Fly Swatter Game at Mts Hifzil Qur’an Medan. The study was conducted by using Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research was conducted into two cycles of action and consisted of four meetings for each cycle. The procedures of the research were planning, action, observation, and reflection. The sample of the research were the first grade of Mts Hifzil Qur’an Medan chosen by saturation sampling. Overall, the total number of the sample was 30 students consisting of all boys.Furthermore, the techniques of collecting the data were conducted by giving test, interviewing the students and the English teacher, observing the teaching and learning process, diary notes and documentation. The instruments used in this research were observation sheet, interview guidelines, diary notes and test. In analyzing the data, the researcher analyzed the quantitative data by using analytic scoring rubric and then comparing the mean score of the students’ writing scores.Meanwhile, the qualitative data were analyzed by making qualitative descriptions by Miles. The result of this research showed that the students’ vocabulary mastery especially in adjective could be improved through the use of Fly Swatter Game. The result of this research showed that there was improving of students’ vocabulary. The mean of pre-test was 47,80. The mean of post test 1 was 65,37. the mean of post-test 2 was 77,23. It indicated that the scores and the mean in second cycle were better than the first cycle. In other words, the students’ are more interest and motivate in vocabulary mastery during teaching and learning process. The students could pronounced the words correctly. Using Fly Swatter Game, the students were eager to study English. By using Fly Swatter Game the students could memorize and understand certain words. Key words: Fly Swatter Game, Vocabulary Mastery

Abstract

This research was aimed to find out the improving students’ writing skills in descriptive text by using Visual Spatial Intelligence. in enhancing this research, the researcher applied the classroom action research, which was done through four steps. They were plan, action, observation, and reflection n. The subjects of this study were 19 students at eight grade students of MTS Al Jumhuriyah Sei Rotan in 2019/2020 Academic Year. The technique of analyzing the data of this research was applied by quantitative and qualitative data. The qualitative data were taken from observation sheet, interview, and documentation. The quantitative data were taken  from students writing skill test. The data was taken from test result which was done in two cycles and two cycles conducted in four meetings. The test was given to the students in form of pre-test, post test in the first cycle and the post test in the second cycle. The result of the analyzing the data showed that the students’ mean score was an improving on the students writing skills from each cycles. It was showed from Pre-test, there was 6 students got successful score criteria or it was (32%) and 13 students’ got unsuccessful score criteria. In the Post test in cycle I, there was 10 students (47%) who got successful score criteria. In the post test in cycle II there was 16 students (84%) who got successful score criteria. In Other words, the students’ writing skills in descriptive text was improved. Based on the observation sheet, interview, and documentation, it can be showed that the expression and enthusiasm of students in learning were also improve.

Abstract

This research is based on a quantitative analysis with experimental design. The objective of this study is to find out whether Reciprocal Teaching Strategy has significant effect towards the students' reading comprehension at the third grade of senior high school. The subject of this research is the students at SMA NEGERI 1 Lhokseumawe. Therefore, the researcher divided the class into two classes, there are experimental and control class. The experimental class was applying Reciprocal Teaching Strategy on the learning process meanwhile the control class was applying conventional strategy.. From the pre- test has been found that the Students’ mean score is 59 and then the score increased to 82. However, for the control class the Students’ mean score on pre-test were 66.5 and the post- test was not increasing significantly as the mean score is 80. Furthermore, based on the data tobservedvalue is 2.40 which higher than ttable at the significant level 0.05 (2.40> 1.67). It can be concluded that Reciprocal Teaching Strategy has significant effect towards the students’ reading comprehension because the result showed that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and H0 is rejected.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to identify the types of error in using simple present tense in writing descriptive that made by eight grade students of MTsN 2 Deli Serdang, to identify the cause of students make error in using simple present tense in writing descriptive text at MTsN 2Deli Sedang. This research is qualitative research. The object of research was the eight grade students of MTsN 2 Deli Serdang. The technique of colleting the data are test and questionnaire. The researcher use the technique of analyzing the data from James and Brown. The total of result from students’errors are 49 errors. Then, the students make error in omission are 21 students’ (42,85%), addition 11 students’ (22,44%), misformation 15 students’ (30,61%), and misordering 2 students’ (4,08%). For result of questionnaire the students’ get cause from context of learning, so to minimize he error outcome in simple present tense, the researcher suggest that the teacher should give the explanation how to write a descriptive text to be a good sentence and also give more examples to the students because more example can make the students understand about writing descriptive text.

Abstract

This research conducted to know the improvement of the students’ reading comprehension by using Random Text Strategy at the tenth grades students of MAS Darul Qur’an. In this research consist of three meetings in two cycles. There are two kinds of data in this research, namely quantitative data and qualitative data. Whereas, the quantitative data taken from each test given by the researcher to the students during the study. Then the qualitative data taken from the observation sheet, field notes, interview and the last is documentation that has been collected by researcher during the research. Based on the data showed that there an improvement on the students reading comprehension in each test. In pre-test, there were only 36,11% (13 students) who can answer the question well. In post-test one, there was 63,88% (23 students) who success the test. While, in post-test 2 there was 86,11% (31 students) who success the test. It was concluded that the students’ scoreimproved every cycle. From the result of the observation, interview, field notes and documentation that has been analyzed, it can be concluded that the students more active and the learning process more effective. The students pay close attention to the researcher when explaining the material in front of the class. Random Text Strategy could improve the students’ reading comprehension at the X Grade MAS Darul Qur’an, where it was can showed from the result of the research.Keywords: Reading, Reading Comprehension, Random Text Strategy

Abstract

The research was aimed to improve the students’ reading comprehension on narrative text by using fable. The subject of this study was the eighth grade students of MTs Al – Manaar PTPN IV Pulu Raja in 2020/2021 academic year. It was consisted of one class and 27 students as respondents. The object of this research was to improve the students’ reading comprehension on narrative text by using fable. This research of this study was conducted by using classroom action research. The technique of analyzing the data was qualitative and quantitative research. The qualitative data were taken from observation. While the quantitative data were taken from tests consist of pre – test and post – test. Based on the result of the data analysis, it shows that there was an improvement in the students’ reading comprehension on narrative text after using fable. In pre – test the students mean was 33, 51 or it was 0%. All of the students did not reach the KKM. After doing the post – test, there was an improvement in the result of the students’ mean. The students’ mean in post – test cycle 1 was 55, 74 or it was 22.22%, and the students’ mean in the post – test cycle 2 was 80, 74 or it was 85, 18%. In other words the students’ reading comprehension on narrative text was improved. And based on the observation sheet and documentation, it was showed that the expression and excitement of the students were also improved.
