Abstract

Poverty caused by income inequality and social inequality that occurs in coastal communities is the main problem that has been of concern to the Government so far, so an empowerment strategy is needed to alleviate it. For this reason, the purpose of the article is to describe empowerment strategies to increase the income of seaweed farmers. The review method uses a literature study method where the data obtained are compiled, analyzed, then make conclusions. Type of data, namely secondary data. Data collection techniques, through the stages of taking data from the library, reading, recording, then processing data. The results of the study show that stakholder's efforts to carry out empowerment aim to increase community independence. Through empowerment approaches and strategies, climate is created, power strengthening, and protection of communities as subjects of development. The coastal community empowerment strategy carried out by the South Sulawesi Provincial Government is based on the principle of sustainability, the principle of consistency, the principle of integration, the principle of legal certainty, the principle of partnership, the principle of equity, the principle of participation, the principle of openness, the principle of accountability, and the principle of justice. Empowerment as non-formal education, the implementation of the seaweed farmer empowerment program is carried out through a learning process to improve knowledge and skills of group strengthening, dissemination of seaweed cultivation technology, and implementation of training and counseling to seaweed farmers at the farmer group level on an ongoing basis.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the socio-economic relations among women fish traders in Pasar Mare. This study used a qualitative research method which was analyzed and written descriptively. Data collection techniques were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving 10 individual informants. The results of the study show that: (1) The reasons for women fish traders in Pasar Mare choosing to trade are economic problems, not having a husband, their own desires, and having supplies to sell; (2) In arranging the time between trading and working women traders here find it not difficult and have arranged their time in such a way, because selling time at the market does not take long so that female traders are able to spend time with their families and do their homework both before and after going to school. market.; (3) The relationship between women fish traders here is going very well, this is due to the attitude of helping each other and the principle that is held that at any time they will need each other. For example, dividing the fish caught in parakka in two, helping to sell fish when traveling for a while or when the merchandise is not sold out and exchanging small amounts of money. Besides that, female fish traders often hold arisan, both among fish traders and other traders.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the process of implementing agricultural modernization in farming communities and its impact on the socio-cultural life of farmers. The method used is qualitative, namely research conducted with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that previously farmers in Ganra Village carried out the process of implementing agricultural modernization starting from cultivating paddy fields to processing paddy into rice, initially the tools used in agriculture were still very traditional until they experienced increasingly sophisticated or modern changes. One of them is the inclusion of a combine car during the rice harvest which immediately removes the grain from the stalks or stems and cleaning the grain no longer needs to work twice and even only requires a few people to implement it. Agricultural modernization has positive and negative impacts. The positive impact is increasing crop production, as well as facilitating work that can save time and energy. While the negative impact is making farmers less creative because farmers depend on modern agricultural technology products, increasing unemployment, and lack of mutual cooperation in the social field as well as losing a sense of mutual need between each other and the collective attitude that is characteristic of society. farmers in Ganra Village who have changed to an individual attitude.

Abstract

Localization of Nightlife Places or in Indonesian it is called THM was once a hot discourse discussed in public spaces in Makassar City, especially in 2005. This discourse went wild since a daily newspaper in this city published news about the approval of Makassar City DPRD members and several other members of the commission for coming up with this idea. Some of the reasons that support the idea that is still playing out at this level of discourse, are covered by the postulates of urban planning and order. Another reason is related to the development of the Makassar City tourism sector. This paper examines the socio-cultural problems that have caused this localization policy discourse to not be realized. Socio-culturally, the act of localizing THM is seen as an effort to facilitate immoral activities, whereas on the other hand, the local population is a community of adherents and adherents of siri' values. In fact, this discourse coincided with the rise of the movement for the enforcement of Islamic Sharia in South Sulawesi.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role of village institutions in community empowerment through a participatory communication approach. Participatory communication is considered an effective strategy to involve the community in decision-making and the implementation of empowerment programs. The research method employed is a qualitative approach, utilizing in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The findings indicate that village institutions play a crucial role in community empowerment efforts. Through the participatory communication approach, the community actively engages in the planning, execution, and evaluation of empowerment programs. Community participation enhances their understanding of local needs, fosters a sense of ownership over the programs, and improves implementation effectiveness. In conclusion, village institutions play a significant role in promoting community empowerment through participatory communication. Active community involvement in decision-making and program implementation makes empowerment more relevant and sustainable. Therefore, efforts to enhance the capacity of village institutions and strengthen participatory communication mechanisms are necessary to achieve more optimal outcomes in community empowerment endeavors.

This research was conducted to find out (1) the factors causing changes in social stratification of the people who own swiftlet cultivation in Soga Village, Marioriwawo District, Soppeng Regency. Abstract

This research aims to find out 1) how the implementation of the health protocol in Siambo Village 2) how the social behavior of the community changed during the Covid-19 pandemic 3) how the community's economic conditions were during the Covid-19 pandemic. As for the type of research, namely descriptive qualitative research, to collect informants the researcher used a purposive sampling technique with 13 informant criteria. Data analysis techniques use data reduction, data presentation to draw conclusions. As for the results of the study 1) Where is the form of implementing community protocols during a pandemic which includes the form of implementing health protocols that have been effective and the effects faced by the form of implementing these health protocols. 2) the economic conditions of the community during the Covid pandemic which included work during the pandemic, economic conditions, and the impact on economic income during the pandemic and how the people of Siambo Village were able to properly complete work during the pandemic. 3) forms of community social behavior during a pandemic which includes patterns of interaction where people are able to interact or adapt with the general public during the Covid-19 pandemic, environmental adaptation which includes how changes occur during the Covid-19 pandemic and actions/behaviors which include what activities What to do during a pandemic and how to reduce or overcome the problem of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Limited job opportunities are a national issue and from year to year the number of unemployed is increasing. One of the causes of the lack of employment is the unequal number of the labor force compared to the available job opportunities. On the one hand, the labor force, especially the young labor force, tends to be disinterested in working in rural areas. This study aims to analyze the structure of the workforce, employment opportunities and labor mobility in rural areas. The approach used in this study is a case study in Bulutellue Village, Bulupoddo District, Sinjai. Data collection was carried out in participatory group discussions. Limited job opportunities and low wage rates in rural areas caused workers to migrate out of the region, with the aim of migrating outside the region and also abroad. The workforce potential is quite high but the quality of the workforce is still low. Efforts to increase labor resources and create job opportunities that lead to the development of the informal economic sector are urgently needed to accelerate rural development and reduce labor migration.

Abstract

This study aims to know and understand the cultural values ​​that exist in the Martajaya sub-district, to know and understand the morals and economy of the people in the Martajaya sub-district and to know and understand the work ethic of the people who live in the Martajaya sub-district. To achieve this goal, a qualitative research method was adopted by means of observation, interviews and documentation. The data that has been obtained is then analyzed and interpreted based on relevant theories and research results. The results of the study show that traditional values ​​in the belief tradition, Hindu religious rituals, and the human life cycle are inherited from their predecessors where the people in the Martajaya sub-district are transmigrants from the island of Bali who have never left the traditions below them from the village. Page. As for the morals of the people in the Martajaya sub-district, they are very well instilled. This is what makes the sub-district so peaceful when we visit the Martajaya sub-district. From an economic point of view, the community’s success in developing its economy can be proven by building a magnificent temple and that reflects how rich the person is. People see that if the temple or place of worship is large, then the owner is a rich or respected person. To improve their economy, the people in the Martajaya sub-district do not only work as oil palm fruit farmers but also take opportunities in the entrepreneurial field such as opening a shop for mixed ingredients for daily needs, photocopying and others.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the precession of the community towards the natural environment, especially in tourism activities, to determine the influence of the Dutungan Island tourist attraction on the economic development of the community, to provide an overview of the community's efforts to protect the environment of the Dutungan Island tourist attraction, and to describe the efforts of the community and local government in introducing Dutungan Island tourism object to become sustainable tourism. To achieve this goal, a qualitative research method was adopted by means of observation, interviews and documentation. The data obtained is then analyzed and interpreted based on relevant theories and research results. The results of this show that the relationship between humans and the natural environment in tourism activities on the Dutungan Island tourist attraction is very important. The existence of tourist objects has an influence on the community's economy as well as the presence of a harmonious community and continues to preserve the environment by carrying out nature-loving activities. Until now, the community's culture of protecting the environment is still maintained so that it can maintain natural resources and produce several ecosystems that are utilized by the community and used as a livelihood
