Abstract

The Vietnam War stands as one of the most controversial and influential military conflicts of the 20th century. This journal article aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the history, causes, and impacts of the war that raged in Vietnam from 1955 to 1975. Utilizing primary and secondary sources, the author delves into various aspects of the conflict, including its historical context, underlying reasons for its outbreak, and far-reaching consequences that continue to shape regional and global affairs to this day.The historical context of the Vietnam War can be traced back to the colonial era when Vietnam was under French colonial rule. The desire for independence and unification was a central theme that shaped the Vietnamese national identity and led to various anti-colonial movements. After the First Indochina War, which resulted in the division of Vietnam at the 17th parallel, the stage was set for further hostilities that eventually escalated into the Second Indochina War. The root causes of the Vietnam War were multifaceted and complex. One of the primary factors was the ideological divide between the communist North and the non-communist South. The Cold War rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union also played a pivotal role, with the U.S. supporting the South Vietnamese government to prevent the spread of communism in Southeast Asia. Additionally, the role of nationalism and regional dynamics contributed to the escalation of hostilities in the region. This section explores the major events and turning points during the Vietnam War, including the Gulf of Tonkin incident, the Tet Offensive, and the Paris Peace Accords. These events had significant implications for the trajectory of the conflict and shaped public opinion both within the involved countries and internationally.

The research method used is qualitative, with phenomenology as a study of analyzing the experiences of victims namely the experiences of individuals directly affected by the Cianjur earthquake disaster. The research informants were Nagrak villagers consisting of six people namely three women and three men. The theories used are Herbert Mead's symbolic interaction theory, a theory related to self-concept, and Alfred Schutz's phenomenology theory, a distinctive theory with intersubjective meaning. The results showed that the self-concept of the people of Nagrak village affected by the earthquake considered that the earthquake event was an unforgettable traumatic experience because it was so powerful and destroyed most of their lives. The conclusion of the research shows that the self-concept of the people of Nagrak village as victims of the earthquake disaster, shows a traumatic attitude (bad experience) but seems to try to understand the traumatic feeling wisely.

Abstract

Distribution of telecommunications in Indonesia, the government is aggressively building telecommunications network facilities, especially for 3T areas (Frontier, Outermost and Disadvantaged). Because there are still many areas that have not received access to telecommunications services, the Fiber to The Area (FTTA) network is the right solution to meet the needs of the community in economic, environmental and technical aspects. This design will provide an expansion of Fixed Broadband services around the Tanjung Lesung Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Pandeglang Regency, Banten. Later this fiber optic access network will use a Fiber To The Area (FTTA) network topology that connects the CO (Central Office) as a Metro Ethernet and DWDM hub with the Mini OLT Shelter as an Optical Line Terminal (OLT) hub supported by NG-PON (Next-Generation) PON (Passive Optical Network) technology with 2 Stage architecture which involves two stages of sending information signals through optical fiber. This design must first be designed on Google Earth to determine the fiber optic cable path and to determine the feasibility of performance on the system the author uses several test components including: Link Power Budget (LPB) testing, Rise Time Budget (RTB), Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), Bit Error Rate (BER), Quality Factor (Q-Factor) which is simulated on optisystem to be able to provide performance values that match the eligibility standards at PT Telkom Indonesia.

Abstract

Saung Pandu is an acronym for Usaha Unggulan Pertanian Terpadu, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program located in direct proximity to PT Badak NGL Bontang in East Kalimantan. Saung Pandu was initiated to mitigate land conflicts through community empowerment approaches. As a result, Saung Pandu has become a community development program that focuses on integrated agriculture by utilizing processed domestic wastewater from the company. This research examines the process of community empowerment and participation using the theories of empowerment and community participation. Given the intertwined nature of empowerment and participation, the empowerment process is seen as a sequence of awareness-raising, capacity building, and empowerment. Meanwhile, participation is observed through the stages of planning, implementation, benefit realization, and monitoring and evaluation. This research adopts a qualitative methodology. The findings of this study indicate that while there is an existing empowerment process, optimal participation has not been achieved. The participation that occurs is largely influenced by the historical background of conflicts between the company and the community. This is due to the segmentation of groups based on land ownership, leading to some degree of tokenism among certain parties, thereby resulting in suboptimal individual participation within the groups.
