Abstract

Benign prostate enlargement (BPE) is a common degenerative condition in elderly men, often leading to lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) such as urgency, frequent urination, and incomplete bladder emptying. This study investigates the correlation between prostate volume, intravesical prostate protrusion (IPP), and bladder detrusor muscle thickness in patients with BPE using transabdominal ultrasonography. Conducted in Banjar Jagatamu, Meliling Village, Tabanan Regency, the study employed a cross-sectional design with 71 participants aged 60 years and older. Inclusion criteria required an International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) ≥ 8 or prostate volume > 20 mL. The results revealed a significant correlation between prostate volume and bladder detrusor muscle thickness (r = 0.665, p < 0.001) and between IPP and detrusor thickness (r = 0.806, p < 0.001). These findings highlight the utility of ultrasonography in assessing structural changes caused by chronic urinary obstruction. The study provides valuable insights into the role of prostate volume and IPP as predictive markers for bladder remodeling in BPE patients. By focusing on a rural population, this research emphasizes the need for accessible diagnostic tools to improve early detection and management of BPE, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes in underserved communities.

Abstract

The Complete Blood Count (CBC) or hemogram is a panel of test results on the cellular components of blood: the Red Blood Cells (RBCS), White Blood Cells (WBCS), and platelets (PLTS). Each of the portions can be interpreted separately in a methodical fashion and the interpretation has two aims for laboratorians. parameter that is quite sensitive to testing errors and interferences (often flagged) is the Mean Cell Hemoglobin Concentration (MCHC). The purpose of checking Hemoglobin levels is to assess the level of anemia, response to anemia therapy, or the development of diseases related to anemia and polycythemia. Other uses for checking Hemoglobin include assessing the level of anemia, the response to anemic women and the development of diseases related to anemia. This research used a crosssectional analytic method with the aim of finding a correlation red blood indices to Hemoglobin. Teenagers are the most prominent investors and the next generation of the nation's ideals. However, in adolescence, many problems can have a negative impact on health, such as adolescent nutrition. The quality and quantity of nutritional intake consumed during adolescence is an important factor in the emergence of nutritional problems in adolescents.

Abstract

The Hajj pilgrimage is a significant religious obligation for Muslims, but it presents various health risks, particularly for older pilgrims. This study aims to identify the influence of age on the number of Hajj pilgrims from South Sumatra in 2024. A quantitative research approach was employed, collecting and analyzing mortality data for pilgrims based on age groups. Primary data were gathered from a survey conducted among health congregants before departure, while secondary data were sourced from official reports from the Ministry of Religion and Health Services. The analysis revealed that age significantly influences the number of deceased pilgrims, particularly among those aged over 60. This age group faces a higher risk of mortality due to vulnerable health conditions and the prevalence of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension, which are exacerbated by the physical demands of the Hajj pilgrimage. The findings emphasize the need for careful attention and preparation regarding the health of older congregants. Intensive monitoring is essential to ensure that this group can undertake the Hajj pilgrimage safely and optimally. It is recommended to develop specialized health programs for elderly Hajj pilgrims to mitigate the risk of mortality during their religious observance. These programs should focus on health assessments, education on managing chronic conditions, and strategies for coping with the physical demands of the pilgrimage.
