Abstract

Cognitive decline in the elderly can affect their physical abilities and quality of life. Cognitive decline is often characterized by impaired memory and communication, resulting in dependence on others. This study aims to apply reminiscence therapy as an effort to improve cognitive function in the elderly. The case study was conducted using the gerontic nursing care process approach. The research subjects consisted of two elderly over 60 years old with cognitive impairment, who were evaluated using the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE). Reminiscence therapy was implemented in 3 sessions for 2 weeks, each lasting 90 minutes. After the application of reminiscence therapy, both subjects' MMSE scores improved. The first subject showed the score increased from 15 to 21, while the second subject from 16 to 23, which showed improvement in the category of cognitive impairment. The application of reminiscence therapy is able to stimulate long-term memory and improve cognitive function in the elderly. These results are in line with previous research which shows that this therapy is effective in improving cognitive abilities and quality of life of the elderly. Reminiscence therapy is an important intervention to improve memory and cognitive function in the elderly with cognitive impairment. Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that can cause various complications, including diabetic foot wounds. Wound healing in diabetic patients is often hampered, so effective therapy is needed. Ozone therapy has shown potential in accelerating the wound healing process through increased tissue oxygenation and antimicrobial effects. This study aims to determine the effect of ozone therapy on the wound healing process of diabetes mellitus at DD Care Clinic Padang City. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a one group pretestposttest method. A sample of 10 people was taken with purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using the Bates-Jensena Wound Assessment Tool (BWAT) questionnaire and analyzed using the Wilcoxson signed ranks test. The mean diabetic wound healing score before ozone therapy was 41.1 (SD 7.34) and after therapy was 25.3 (SD 7.39). The statistical test showed a P value of 0.005, which indicated a significant difference between the scores before and after therapy. The results showed that ozone therapy is effective in accelerating diabetic wound healing. This therapy works by increasing oxygenation, reducing infection, and stimulating cell regeneration. This finding is in line with previous studies that show the benefits of ozone in wound management. There is a significant effect of ozone therapy on the wound healing process of diabetes mellitus at DD Care Clinic, with a P-value of 0.005. Abstract

Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) in Indonesia are still high, with MMR reaching 305/100,000 live births and IMR at 22.23 per 1,000 live births. Although the government has launched various programs for adolescent, maternal, and child health, there has been no effort to integrate these programs into a comprehensive reproductive health cycle. This study aims to analyze the needs of the community in designing an integrated information system model for adolescent, maternal, and child health. This study used a survey design conducted in Dau, Malang Regency, Indonesia. The population consisted of all women of childbearing age (15-49 years) totaling 945 people, with a sample size of 311 respondents obtained using the Slovin formula. The sampling technique used cluster sampling from 4 RW in Petungsewu Village, and 279 respondents could be processed. The research instrument used a questionnaire, and the data were analyzed quantitatively in the form of frequency distribution. The results of the data analysis showed that the design of the integrated model of adolescent, maternal, and child health has significant potential as the basis for developing an integrated website system. This system not only facilitates comprehensive health education but also strengthens real-time health recording and reporting mechanisms. This study shows that the integration of health education is essential to meet the different information needs of adolescents, mothers, and children. The model successfully identified and categorized these needs, so that the developed website could provide relevant and specific content for each user group.

Abstract

Stunting remains a significant public health concern, particularly in rural areas where socio-economic and environmental factors exacerbate the problem. This study aims to analyze the risk factors contributing to stunting in early childhood and propose effective prevention strategies tailored to rural contexts. Utilizing a descriptive-analytic approach with a cross-sectional design, data were collected from 300 households through structured questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and direct observations. Logistic regression analysis identified maternal education, household income, dietary diversity, and sanitation access as critical determinants of stunting. Qualitative data highlighted economic pressures and limited nutritional knowledge as additional barriers. The findings emphasize the importance of integrated, community-driven interventions focusing on maternal education, exclusive breastfeeding, and improved sanitation. This research contributes to the existing literature by providing a comprehensive framework for addressing stunting in rural areas and offers actionable recommendations for policymakers and community stakeholders. Future studies should explore the long-term impact of these interventions and the role of cultural dynamics in sustaining their effectiveness.

Abstract

The One Health approach emphasizes the interconnectedness of human, animal, and ecosystem health, advocating for cross-sector collaboration to combat zoonotic threats. Despite policy advances in Southeast Asia, little is known about coaching and capacity-building efforts for the region's One Health workforce. This review aimed to map such interventions, examine their methods and target groups, assess outcomes, and identify gaps. Using the Arksey and O'Malley framework and PRISMA-ScR reporting, a search across seven databases and gray literature from 2000- 2025 was conducted. Studies included addressed multiple sectors in Southeast Asia and described or evaluated coaching or capacity-building. Two reviewers screened records with a Cohen’s kappa of 0.86. Twenty-nine studies met inclusion criteria; Thailand (27.6%) and Indonesia (24.1%) were most represented. Group training predominated (34.5%), and only one study employed executive coaching. Outcomes clustered at Kirkpatrick Levels 1–2, with 20.7% reaching Level 4. Environmental health professionals and five ASEAN countries remained absent from the evidence base. Coaching efforts remain regionally limited, modality-restricted, and outcomes shallow; gaps include executive coaching, organizational consulting, and environmental health inclusion. Future initiatives should combine personalized coaching with organizational strategies, emphasizing longitudinal research and coverage of ASEAN countries.

Abstract

Background: Periodontal disease is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases affecting the oral cavity worldwide. Various risk factors contribute to the development of periodontal disease, one of which is alcohol consumption. Excessive alcohol intake is widely recognized as a major public health problem and has been associated with systemic conditions such as liver disease, cardiovascular disorders, and behavioral and mental health problems. Alcohol abuse has also been reported to impair host immune responses by reducing neutrophil, macrophage, and T-cell function, thereby increasing susceptibility to infection. Consequently, alcohol consumption may contribute to the development of periodontal pockets. Objective: This literature review aimed to summarize current evidence regarding the association between alcohol consumption and the risk of periodontal pocket formation. Methods: A narrative literature review was conducted by searching the PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar databases for peer-reviewed articles published between 2008 and 2025. The search combined the terms “alcohol consumption,” “periodontal pocket,” “periodontitis,” and “clinical attachment loss.” Observational, longitudinal, cohort, and cross-sectional studies, as well as systematic reviews and meta-analyses, were included, and their findings were synthesized descriptively. Results: Seven primary clinical studies were examined, together with supporting mechanistic and review evidence. Two studies reported no consistent association between light-to-moderate alcohol consumption and periodontal pocket development, whereas five reported that heavy or long-term alcohol consumption was associated with increased periodontal pocket depth and clinical attachment loss, most notably among heavy drinkers and smokers. Conclusion: This review demonstrates that excessive alcohol consumption is associated with periodontitis-related clinical manifestations, including periodontal pocket formation and clinical attachment loss.
