Abstract

Teacher professional competence refers to the abilities, knowledge and skills possessed by teachers in carrying out the learning process. This research aims to determine the relationship between biology teachers' professional competence and student learning outcomes at SMAS GKLB Luwuk. This research uses a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. Data was collected through a questionnaire filled in by 30 students as respondents. The results of the research show that there is a significant positive relationship between the professional competence of biology teachers and student learning outcomes. The higher the teacher's professional competence, the better the student learning outcomes as reflected in their academic scores. These findings emphasize the importance of developing teacher professional competence as a key factor in improving the quality of education and student learning outcomes in schools. Recommendations from this research include the need for ongoing training and development programs for biology teachers to improve their skills and knowledge.

Abstract

Mangrove forests are an important habitat for mangrove crabs. However, land conversion and various community activities will threaten their survival. This research aims to determine the species diversity index of mangrove crabs (Scylla) in the mangrove forest area of Tatakalai Village, Banggai Islands Regency. The research took place in the mangrove forest of Tatakalai Village, Banggai Islands Regency in June - July 2022. The samples for this research were all species of mangrove crab (Scylla) that were obtained. Sampling was taken by exploring the mangrove forest area and placing crab traps and collecting data on environmental factors. Data analysis uses the diversity index formula (H'). The results of the research found 2 types of mangrove crabs in the genus (Scylla), namely Scylla serrata and Scylla olivacea, with the diversity index of mangrove crabs (Scylla) (H') = 0.59827 belonging to the low diversity category. Environmental factors at the research location with water temperature 26?-28?, water pH 7.2-7.4, and water depth 80-175 cm. Mangrove crabs have an important ecological relationship to mangrove forests. There needs to be awareness among the people of Tatakalai Village, Banggai Islands Regency, to always preserve the environment around the mangrove forest area.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of using animated video media on the learning outcomes of class XI MIA nervous system material at SMA Katolik Santo Yoseph Luwuk. This research is a type of quasi-experimental research which involves two classes with different treatments, namely the control class and the experimental class. The research design is pre-test and post-test one group. This research was carried out in the Even Semester of the 2023/2024 academic year at SMA Katolik Santo Yoseph Luwuk. The sample in this study consisted of two classes, namely class XI MIA 2 students as the experimental class and class XI MIA 1 students as control class. The data collection used in this research is a test technique in the form of questions pre-test and post-test in multiple choice form totaling 15 items. The data analysis technique is hypothesis testing using the t-test formula (t-test). Based on the research results, the t value was obtainedcount > ttable (4.152 > 2,02) eye H0 rejected while H1 accepted so that it can be concluded that there is an influence of the use of animated video media on student learning outcomes in class XI MIA nervous system material at SMA Katolik Santo Yoseph Luwuk.

Abstract

Actinomycetes is a gram-positive bacterium with high GC (Guanine-Cyto sine) content that has the potential as a biohygiene agent, one of which is to free bound phosphate in the soil so that it can be absorbed by plants. Phosphate contained in soil that can be utilized by plants directly is only available in limited quantities because most of the others are bound by other compounds. In this study, 15 actinomycetes isolates from the rhizosphere soil of Malino pine forest in South Sulawesi were tested for their ability to dissolve phosphate. The method used to test the phosphate solubilizing activity was by growing the isolates on pikovskaya media. Six of the 15 isolates showed phosphate solubilization activity with the highest phosphate solubility index (IKF), namely isolate RWM 5. This indicates that actinomycetes have the ability as biological control agents that secrete enzymes to release bound phosphate into phosphate that can be utilized by plants.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) approach in enhancing the ability of biology education students to generate innovative ideas for their thesis research topics. The research employed a pre-experimental design with a one-shot case study model. The subjects consisted of 73 fifth-semester students from the Biology Education Department, FKIP, Halu Oleo University. Data were collected through creative portfolio assessments and student response questionnaires. The creative portfolio assessment measured the novelty, creativity, and relevance of students' research ideas, while the questionnaire gathered student perceptions regarding the implementation of CPS. The results showed that the CPS approach effectively improved students' ability to generate innovative, original, and relevant research ideas. Students who participated in CPS-based learning were able to identify and formulate research problems more systematically, explore literature sources effectively, and produce high-quality research proposals. Additionally, the questionnaire results indicated that most students responded positively to the CPS method, as it was perceived to motivate, stimulate creative thinking, and provide practical solutions for addressing research challenges. Thus, the CPS approach can be implemented as an effective teaching strategy to support the development of students' creative and critical thinking skills, while contributing to the improvement of research quality in biology education.

Abstract

Sandalwood (Santalum album L.) is an endemic plant and an important natural resource in improving the economy of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Sandalwood has a very fragrant aroma and contains essential oils so that it has a high selling value and is one of the sources of regional income (PAD). Sandalwood growth is very slow in nature due to its parasitic nature. To meet its nutritional needs, it depends on the host plant so that sandalwood needs to establish an association with other plants (hosts) in order to survive through haustoria formed from sandalwood plant roots. This study aims to determine the diameter and height of sandalwood seedlings planted with a combination of several types of hosts. The study was conducted in TDM 2 Village, Kupang NTT, using an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications. The results of statistical analysis showed that the diversity of host types had a significant effect on the increase in the height of sandalwood seedlings and had a very significant effect on the diameter of sandalwood seedlings, this is evidenced by the sandalwood stem height analysis table. The highest average height of sandalwood seedlings was found in treatment P2 with an average height of 84.3 and the highest average diameter of sandalwood seedlings was found in treatment P1, namely 3.85.

Abstract

Carp (Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus, 1758) is a species of freshwater fish that has great opportunities for cultivation development to meet increasing market needs. One of the obstacles faced in goldfish cultivation is disease attacks, both at the hatchery level and at the grow-out level. Starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) is a fruit plant native to Indonesia that contains flavonoid compounds which have antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties, so it has the potential to be used to control disease in aquaculture organisms. This research aims to determine the benefits of starfruit extract solution on the hatchability of goldfish eggs. Administration of 1.2 mL/L starfruit extract solution. The results of the study showed that the use of starfruit extract could increase the hatchability of goldfish eggs, but the higher the dose of starfruit extract used, the lower the hatchability of goldfish eggs. A solution of starfruit extract with a dose of 0.4 mL/L produced the highest hatchability of 77.22%.
