Abstract

Mumbai's urban upper economic class faces unique pressures to maintain youthfulness, shaped by pervasive societal norms and the influential portrayals of ageing in Bollywood media. This study aims to evaluate how Bollywood's representations impact perceptions of ageing among Mumbai's affluent, and to explore the implications for media literacy and educational strategies. Employing a quantitative survey approach, data were collected from 32 upper-class residents of Mumbai using Google Forms and analyzed with SPSS to assess attitudes toward ageing, the influence of media, and gendered expectations. The findings reveal that Bollywood's youth-centric narratives significantly contribute to negative perceptions of ageing, reinforcing ageist stereotypes and intensifying the desire to appear youthful, with notable differences between male and female respondents. These results underscore the urgent need for inclusive and diverse media representations, as well as the integration of media literacy interventions in educational and community settings to foster critical engagement with age-related stereotypes. The study concludes that promoting media literacy and age-inclusive content can play a pivotal role in challenging societal biases, supporting intergenerational understanding, and informing policy and curriculum development in urban India.

Abstract

The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education demands a comprehensive understanding of university teachers' readiness and attitudes towards integrating this technology, particularly in the development of innovative learning media. This study aims to explore the beliefs and attitudes of university teachers in Pakistan towards the adoption of AI in teaching practices and examine its implications for the development and integration of technology-based learning media. The study employs a quantitative approach with a structured survey involving 250 teachers from various public and private universities in Pakistan, and the data is analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Chi-square test. The findings indicate that the majority of teachers recognize the potential of AI in enhancing teaching effectiveness, accelerating data analysis, and supporting the development of adaptive learning media. However, significant concerns remain regarding ethical issues, data privacy, and technology adoption readiness. These findings underscore the importance of continuous professional development, the formulation of ethical guidelines, and research collaboration to ensure the optimal integration of AI, contributing to the transformation of learning in higher education, particularly in the development of innovative and ethical learning media.

Abstract

This research employs the William Rumi content analysis method to examine the biology section of Iran’s sixth-grade elementary science textbook, focusing on lessons 10–13. It assesses the text, questions, and images, categorizing them as active, passive, or neutral. The study finds the main text is largely passive, with an engagement coefficient of 0.32, while the questions encourage active learning with a coefficient of 1.50. Images offer minimal engagement, with a coefficient of 0.42. These results underscore the necessity to bolster active learning elements and enhance the use of images. The analysis provides guidance for developing interactive digital textbooks and adaptive, technology-enhanced learning resources, consistent with global educational technology trends. By embedding active learning strategies and digital interactivity, student engagement can be heightened, catering to diverse learning needs in both formal and non-formal educational contexts.

Abstract

The development of digital technology and the unique characteristics of Generation Z have driven the need for innovation in Indonesian language learning, particularly to improve the speaking skills of junior high school students. Conventional learning methods are often ineffective in building student confidence, creativity, and active participation. This study aims to develop and test the effectiveness of synergy between theater, speech recognition technology, and chatbots as a more interactive and relevant learning innovation. Using a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, this study collected data through observations, interviews, questionnaires, and a pilot test of the teaching module. The results showed significant improvements in students' speaking skills, including fluency, clarity, and argument structure. Students became more confident, creative, and engaged, thanks to the automatic feedback from the speech recognition technology and adaptive conversational practice provided by the chatbot. This innovative module also increases student motivation and engagement, supports the implementation of the Independent Curriculum, and the development of 21st-century skills. This synergy has proven effective and can be widely adopted to create more personalized learning that meets the demands of the digital age.
