Abstract

Environmental conservation is a major global issue, with Indonesia ranking low in the Environmental Performance Index 2022. This study focuses on Kampung Adat Kuta, a community in Ciamis, West Java, which upholds local wisdom in maintaining the balance of nature as one of the sustainable environmental ethics and its future prospects. The methods used in this research are literature study and bibliometric analysis. The results show that customary rules, such as respecting sacred forests, building houses according to the rules of the ancestors, and the prohibition of making wells, reflect local wisdom that supports environmental conservation. The people of Kampung Adat Kuta also uphold the concept of "pamali" as a norm to prevent potential environmental hazards. In addition, the results of bibliometric analysis show that the prospect of research related to environmental ethics in the community of Kampung Adat Kuta is still very broad. The bibliometric analysis resulted in four thematic clusters that reflect the complexity of environmental ethics issues in Kampung Adat Kuta involving aspects of sustainability, local values, and community participation. Overall, environmental ethics in Kampung Kuta help maintain the balance of nature and make a positive contribution to the sustainability of natural resources. Although further research is needed, these findings highlight the importance of local values in responding to the challenges of the environmental crisis and offer valuable insights for the development of environmental conservation policies at the local and national levels.

Abstract

Reclamation is part of spatial planning to make coastal areas more useful, as well as to increase land resources from an environmental, social and economic point of view. The development of the PIK (Pantai Indak Kapuk) 1 and 2 reclamation areas is a concept of a sustainable Independent City. The role of the community, government and private sector plays an important role in developing the region. It is also necessary to pay attention to the environmental impact caused by reclamation activities. This study uses qualitative and quantitative methods with a descriptive analysis approach by collecting data from review articles, questionnaires and using maps via satellite imagery. Through the participation of the role of the community which is divided into the general public, fishing communities, and affected communities explaining the interrelationships where the general public's perception of the most supporting parameters for independent cities is infrastructure and land use, then fishing communities have an impact on fish catches, as well as affected communities experiencing rejection resulting in a change in livelihood. The government's role in regulatory planning as a regional spatial plan includes planning processes, infrastructure, public services and a sustainable environment. The role of the private sector can be seen from the planning and development process which chooses to build supporting infrastructure such as tourist centers, shops, public transportation and other facilities. CSR programs by private parties or developers are one of the efforts to contribute positively to the environment and surrounding communities. Correlation of independent cities with land use from planning, development and development processes that reflect the commitment and role of the community, government and private sector seen in 1995, 2014, 2023 The concept of balance and independence in independent cities emphasizes the importance of a holistic approach in urban planning and management. PIK 1 & 2 reclamation areas based on independent cities based on the role of the community, government and private sector in regional development are the key to achieving sustainable development.

Abstract

Sand mining in Keningar village, which has been started since 1996, is still carried out by the community to date, even though the damage is already exist and severe. The community start to dredge the crop land to take the sand, then sell it. Sand mining activities are not only carried out by the residents of Keningar village, but also by another parties from outside the region. The change of land use from crop land into sand mining areas has many impact on various aspects of community life, both on social, economic and cultural aspects. The purposes of this study are to know the perspective of the community of Keningar village on sand mining activities that has been carried out to date, their effect for the environment, and social life patterns of the community of Keningar village. This study use qualitative method by describe all the information. The information was obtained from observations and unstructured interviews with several informants found at the site. The results of the study show that there is a social change in the community of Keningar village, caused by a paradigm shift from farmers to sand miners. The driving force for this phenomenon is economic factor, the demand for everyone needs are high. This paradigm shift has many effects not only on socioeconomic, but also for the environment. Massive exploitation of sand, gravel, and rocks cause the lost of fertile layers of soil and reduce groundwater reserves on community’s crop land. The sand mining can be controlled since the government applied mining license instrument. However, there is still illegal mining carried out between the landowners and mining entrepreneurs by simple agreement. In reality, the indigenous character of the community of Keningar village is farmers and charatcter of “nrimo ing pandum” which actually can be developed to an advance economy without damaging the environment, through the intervention of the government, academics, or other stakeholdes. And one of them can be solved through education.

Abstract

This research was conducted due to a negative perception of elementary school teachers, mostly women, on Twitter as one of the social media platforms throughout the pandemic. From a media perspective, social media become important platforms for conveying confusion as well as providing solutions to parents. The research question is how netizen represents their struggle on social media, and whether there is a difference between men and women. The research used social semiotics as a method. The results are as follows. First, the conversation on female teachers' roles and responsibilities did not describe the existing social reality because the teachers’ voices were unheard in the tweets.  If did exist any, their voices were conveyed by someone else. Second, men spoke in an asymmetrical style of communication and considered the problems related to online learning to be systematic. While on the other hand women used symmetrical ones which ironically discriminate against or make a scapegoat of female teachers.
