Abstract

Meaning of Symbols in the Tradition of Hamis Batar (Gratitude of Maize) On the Suku Tetun of Wehali Village, Malaka Tengah Sub-district, Malaka Regency. (Culture society of Malaka Regency have a set of meaning value system.,The system is manifested in the structure and the social patterns that are implemented in accordance with the standards passed down from generation to generation. The meaning is contained in "culture" as the linking thread between human beings and the facts that exist outside of himself.) The tradition of Hamisbatar/gratitude of maize is one of the traditional cultures in Malaka regency. This tradition is one of the cultures of many cultures in this area, where are people celebrating in every year as the key roles in community life. Basically the tradition of Hamisbatar reveals the meanings that come as a hope that is always believed by humans. The tradition of Hamisbatar is a regular ceremony that presents the belief that always colored the life of the community because the HamisBatar culture shows the gratitude ceremony that comes through the maize for God or Maromak in Tetun. In this study, the researcher aims to examine the meaning of the symbols contained in the tradition of Hamisbatar (Gratitude of the Maize) with Roland Barthes's theory of semiotic analysis, which in theory examines the meaning of denotation, connotation, and the myth of the symbol in the tradition of Hamisbatar. This research uses the qualitative method. The study was conducted in Wehali Village, Malaka Regency. The data was collected by observation and in-depth interviews. The results showed that the ceremony of HamisBatar performed as a good relationship between human beings with the highest being believed is God. The people follow the ceremony of Hamis Batarwith big hope of obtaining the blessing of the Supreme Being, so as to live healthy, safe, peaceful, and harmonious and live well. The traditions contain various tools used as symbols that represent gratitude offerings to the highest form.

Abstract

Sebuah perusahaan akan dapat bertahan jika memiliki citra perusahaan yang baik di publik. Praktisi Hubungan Masyarakat (Humas) di setiap perusahaan penting untuk memiliki strategi yang tepat. Untuk menjaga keberlanjutan coororate, diperlukan hubungan antara perusahaan dengan komunitas sebagai publik eksternal melalui hubungan masyarakat. PT. PLN (Persero) Wilayah NTT sebagai perusahaan negara yang bertugas menyediakan pasokan listrik ke seluruh wilayah di NTT, menjalankan hubungan masyarakat dengan masyarakat di daerah NTT dengan mengimplementasikan program kemitraan dan bina lingkungan. Fokus penelitian ini adalah implementasi salah satu program tanggung jawab sosial yaitu Program Kemitraan dan Bina Lingkungan (PKBL) sebagai upaya membentuk citra perusahaan PT PLN (Persero) Wilayah NTT. Metode penelitian ini adalah studi kasus instrumen tunggal dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Informan dipilih berdasarkan teknik purposive sampling dengan kriteria lama masa kerja dan memiliki kredibilitas dalam memberikan informasi. Menggunakan tinjauan pustaka yakni konsep proses pembentukan citra Altman (exposure, attention, and comprehensive) dan teori opinion, attitude, and belief Zaller dengan lama penelitian satu bulan, hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa PT PLN (Persero) Wilayah NTT mampu membentuk citra positif di mata masyarakat melalui implementasi PKBL. PLN NTT membangun citra perusahaan dengan memilih kelompok masyarakat yang mempunyai peranan penting terhadap usaha (profit making).

Abstract

Healthy behavior washing soap or (CTPS) is not fully understood by the public at large, and the practice is still not widely applied in everyday life including in the student campus age group. The purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of counseling with the demonstration method in increasing knowledge and changing of attitude of CTPS at the student campus of FKM Undana. The method used was pre-experiment with a one-group pretest-posttest research design. The sampling technique used was total sampling, namely 30 respondents. The data obtained were analyzed using the paired-sample T-test. The results of this study indicate that the Demonstration method is effective in increasing the knowledge and attitude of the student campus with a significance value (ρ) 0.00<(α)0.05. Demonstration methods are highly recommended as one of the effective learning media as wash soap handbound sales for student campus.

Abstract

Penelitian Makna Standar Kompetensi Wartawan Bagi Wartawan Media Online Di Kota Kupang memiliki tujuan yakni untuk menemukan dan mendeskripsikan makna standar kompetensi wartawan bagi wartawan media online dalam membentuk diri menjadi wartawan profesional. Metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomologi digunakan untuk menganalisis temuan lapangan. Dari hasil penelitian ditemukan Wartawan media online di kota kupang menyadari pentingnya bekerja sesuai standar kompetensi. Mereka sering mengikuti sosialisasi dan pelatihan tentang standar kompetensi wartawan, bahkan telah mengikuti ujian kompetensi pada level wartawan pemula dan wartawan utama. Standar kompetensi wartawan dinilai seperti SIM bagi seorang wartawan dalam menjalankan tugasnya. Karena itu mereka memaknai standar kompetensi wartawan sebagai pedoman yang harus ditaati untuk menjadi wartawan professional dan menjadi indikator untuk mengukur profesionalitas wartawan.

Abstract

Billboard is an outdoor health communication media aimed to promote health behavior in large audience. This research objective was to describe the effectiveness of billboards in the Oemasi Village Office in terms of visibility, size, and visual design. Descriptive design was applied and 43 respondents were selected by using a convenience sampling technique. Research showed that only 32 respondents (74%) had seen the billboard while the rest, 11 respondents (26%) had not. From 32 respondents, only 27 respondents (84%) had read the message written in while the rest, 5 respondents (16%) had not. Limitations of this media reported were related to the inadequate placement of this media in Village Office as it is rarely visited, the small size of the media leading to the lack of its visibility both picture and written text in reaching the attention of respondents. Therefore, the improvement of size and color is necessary as well as this media to be placed in some selected points in the village to have more attention from the community.

Abstract

This research aims to know transcendental communication in making soil stewpot ritual in Wolokoli Village of Bola Subdistrict of Sikka Regency. The object of this research is making soil stewpot rituals done by People in Wolokoli village. This is a phenomenological study with data collected technique through Observation, In-Depth Interview and Documentation. The result of this research showed that transcendental communication done by people in Wolokoli village of Bola Subdistrict of Sikka Regency. Transcendental communication of people in this village with God or ancestors’ soul or the other invisible strength believed by them happens in the ritual or in the production process of a traditional handicraft that known as unu tana Wolokoli. Especially for making the soil stewpot, a ritual held in the stone plate in one of the craftsman's houses corner and held by the craftsmen his own (woman only) helped by one of her family. This ritual held before makes the soil stewpot. Ritual held in the house corner aims to give offerings for ancestors’ souls in the hope of the ancestors’ souls always guide them in making soil stewpot process.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and express the ethnography of communication person with disabilities in speeches children at the Kupang branch of the Bhakti Luhur orphanage. The theory used is the theory of symbolic interaction by George Herbert Mead. Qualitative research paradigm namely ethnography of communication. Data collection techniques and data analysis used are Dell Hyms. The results of research on the type of communication events in the communication process of speechless children at the orphanage consist of two, namely communication events of speech children with nurses, communication events, children with speech impairments and teachers. The components that make up the communication events of the speechless child setting and scene, namely the location or place and time of communication of the child who is speech impaired by the nurse and teachers, participants, anyone who is involved in the communication process between a speechless child nurse and teacher, ends, the purpose of communication is the speechless child nurse and teacher, action sequences, communication forms of nurse and teachers speechless children that include verbal and nonverbal messages, key, tone of voice in the process of communication of children with speech disabilities and teachers, instrumental, the what message was conveyed through verbal and nonverbal messages, norms, regulations apply at the orphanage, genre, delivery forms such as prayer advice and the relationships of the components that make up communication events. The relationship between the communication components that make up the communication event between nurses and teachers speechless children is colored by verbal and nonverbal languages that appear in the form of statement submissions and requests. The conclusions of this study are the communications process that occurs between nurses of speechless children and teachers at the orphanage who use SPEAKING components in forming communication events.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi, menganalisis dan membahas strategi media relations yang dijalankan Humas Pemerintah Kabupaten (Pemkab) Ngada dengan media cetak dan media elektronik. Teori manajemen public relations dijadikan sebagai pedoman dengan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan strategi media relations yang terbangun melalui kerja sama antara Humas Pemkab Ngada dengan media massa baik itu cetak maupun elektronik. Kendala yang ditemukan dari kerja sama baik ini, diantaranya kurangnya komunikasi berkelanjutan yang terjadi antara Humas Pemkab dengan media massa sebagai institusi. Kendala ini menyebabkan citra pemerintah tidak terbangun secara efektif. Karena itu, Humas Pemkab Ngada berupaya memperluas jalinan kerja sama baik lewat penerapan strategi media relations dengan media cetak dan media elektronik agar dapat meningkatkan citra pemerintah di mata publik.
