Abstract

The diversity of flora and fauna in Indonesia is due to its tropical climate. The Araceae family is a very abundant flora with taro plant forms. Not only on land, Araceae also live in aquatic and epiphytes. Although abundant, data in several regions in Indonesia regarding Araceae is still lacking. Therefore, an inventory of plants is needed to fill in the gaps in the data using a purposive sampling method. There are several common characteristics possessed by plants in the Araceae group, such as chordate and sagitate leaf shapes. Further identification is needed to know the species and its benefits

Abstract

The diversity of vegetation on the UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung Campus has good potential because even though the campus is in the middle of an urban area with moderate rainfall intensity it can have an impact on moss growth. Moss has a very important role within the scope of the ecosystem because it is useful for reducing the danger of flooding, helping to maintain humidity, as a producer of O2 because it can carry out photosynthesis in a short time and has a function as an absorbent of pollutants so that it can be used as a bioindicator of polluted air, besides that can be used as medicine. Observations of moss plants were carried out in the campus area 1 of UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung by tracing to several location points and documenting the mosses found and identification using related literature studies by looking at their morphology. The observation results obtained 6 species of moss namely Calymperes erosum, Dumortiera hirsuta, Funaria hygrometrica, Tortula muralis, Leucoloma molle, and Candelariella spraguei. One of the roles of mosses in ecosystems is as an inhibitor of erosion, mosses can be used as medicinal ingredients, as well as organisms capable of decontaminating water and soil.

Abstract

The research aimed to obtained the viability response of sorghum seeds and their growth after being stored for 14 years at 50C. This study was designed using a randomized block design with 1 factor (genotype). The treatment consisted of 4 genotypes, namely Kawali variety, Numbu variety, S1 line and S4 line. Each treatment was repeated 9 times so that there were 36 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of 1 plant. The results of the analysis of variance showed that the percentage of normal germination, the percentage of dead seeds, growth speed, plant height and number of leaves were not affected by genotype. The average percentage of normal germination was 41.71%, the percentage of dead seeds was 58.29%, the growth rate was 12.12%. The average plant height at 5 weeks after planting was 117.55 cm with an average number of leaves was 8.5.

Abstract

Transportation of oil palm Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) from the plantation to the harvest collection point (TPH) must be done as quickly as possible. This is due to an increase in free fatty acids after the FFB is harvested. Some of the obstacles found were the FFB transportation equipment which was not yet capable of reaching the fruit in the garden easily and the transportation time which was quite long due to the uneven road conditions. With technological advances and the rapid development of innovation, the discovery of track model wheelbarrows that use a driving engine means that further studies are needed to determine the effectiveness of these transport machines. In this research, we will compare wheelbarrows without engines and wheelbarrows with track models, there are 3 (three) treatments given, namely on flat roads, bumpy roads and damaged roads. Researchers search for and collect data on transport capacity, transport load, transport speed and transport costs. The results of this research show that carrying capacity and road conditions have a effect on travel time and speed. This is due to the ability/power of the machine which is quite large and stable in transporting fruit. and, other results from this research show that the use of motorized wheelbarrows can reduce transportation costs because the transportation speed increases so that the travel time is shorter.
