Abstract

Cassava is one of the main local agricultural produced in Lembang sub district, West Java. However, this big potential is still not used optimally because of lack of skill and knowledge of local resident to produce higher economic product made from cassava. Most of resident only use it as raw material to produce traditional foods with relatively low economic value. One of alternative processing of cassava that can enhance higher profit is producing modified cassava flour, best known as mocaf. This training aims to give resident information and skill about mocaf and its process, also offer alternative use of cassava to get higher profit. The target of this training was several housewives joined in Syariah Micro Finance group living in Lembang sub district. This training was held by two sections, the first section was giving general information about mocaf and the second section was demonstrating and practicing how to make mocaf from fresh cassava and some foods made from mocaf. The result shows that audiences gave very good responses to the training. Making mocaf from cassava was new information for them. All audiences were able to practice how to make mocaf successfully. In conclusion,  the processing cassava to mocaf could be an alternative and potential business for local resident in Lembang sub district. Keywords:  cassava, food, mocaf, product,

Abstract

A research on screening and isolation of cellulolytic bacteria from the gut of larvae Black Soldier treated rice straw feed has been conducted. The purpose of this study is to get the type of cellulolytic bacteria from the gut of larvae and bacteria that have the highest potential to degrade cellulose. Screening and isolation method applied by using intestinal larvae obtained from larval gut vortex at a speed of 1500 rpm. Furthermore, dilution graded from 1 to 10 and grown in media CMC (carboxyl methyl cellulose) at 37 0C and incubated for 48 hours. Observations were made based on the characteristics of the microscopic, macroscopic, biochemical test, cellulolytic activity and the activity of cellulase enzymes selected bacteria. The results showed a 9 cellulolytic bacteria from the gut of the larvae. Bacillus sp. is a bacteria that have the highest potential with cellulolitic activity 2.1 mm (dz/dk), the exponential phase of hour at the 24th, and cellulase enzyme activity of 0.4 U/mL at pH 7 and 0.41 U/mL at pH 8.This research showed that the Black Soldier Flays Larvae (Hermetia illucens) have competencein organic waste degradation, because in Black Soldier Flays Larvaes gut, cellulolitic enzyme is produced by cellulolitic bacteria, specially Bacillus sp,How to CiteSupriyatna, A., & Ukit, U. Abstract

Black Soldier fly larvae is an insect capable to convert organic waste into body biomass. The purpose of this research was to determine the productivity, mass balance of the consumption process, and content of protein and fat of prepupa which has a potency as a livestock feed. This research used 6-day-old larvae, they were fed with cassava skin that has been smoothed with a variety of feeding doses: 12.5; 25; 50; 100; and 200 (mg / larvae / day) with ratio of feed and water 2: 1. The results showed that the feeding of 200 mg / larva / day produced the best larval growth with biomass productivity of 1.54 mg / day, residue yielded of 67.1 mg / day. The organic waste was convertion into larvae biomass. In this study, approximately consumption process scale is feed successfully converted to biomass 2.77%, metabolism 6.98%, and 90.24% residue. Protein content is 25.7%. It can be concluded that the larvae are able to convert organic waste into high protein biomass and potentially being used as a livestock feed. This research acts a model to predict mass balance of substrates for feed. The benefit of this research is the science approach used in this study that can be used as a reference by researchers and the community to determine the biomass production of an organism.
