Abstract

ABSTRACT: This research aims to find out the types of ameliorant and the local West Papua genotypes that have the best influence on corn productivity, identify the yield of several promoting genotypes of the local West Papua red corn using several types of ameliorant in North Manokwari District, and know the right type of the ameliorant for increasing the yield of several promoting genotype of the local West Papua red corn. The study used a split-plot design with the combination treatments of ameliorant types and corn plant genotypes. The types of ameliorant as the first treatment factor which was allocated as a main plot consisted of Control or without ameliorant (Ao), Chicken Manure (A1), and Goat Manure (A2). The second factor (G) as a subplot consisted of 8 types of corn genotypes (AMP-UNIPA 1, AMP-UNIPA 2, AMP-UNIPA 3, AMP-UNIPA 4, AMP-UNIPA 5, AMP-UNIPA 6, AMP-UNIPA 7, and AML-UNIPA (local varieties). The results showed that the combination of ameliorant and corn genotypes treatments produced a different influence on the growth and yield components of corn. Several important variables in the growth component as well as the corn yield component showed the best results as an influence of goat manure ameliorant application.

Abstract

The research aimed to obtained the viability response of sorghum seeds and their growth after being stored for 14 years at 50C. This study was designed using a randomized block design with 1 factor (genotype). The treatment consisted of 4 genotypes, namely Kawali variety, Numbu variety, S1 line and S4 line. Each treatment was repeated 9 times so that there were 36 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of 1 plant. The results of the analysis of variance showed that the percentage of normal germination, the percentage of dead seeds, growth speed, plant height and number of leaves were not affected by genotype. The average percentage of normal germination was 41.71%, the percentage of dead seeds was 58.29%, the growth rate was 12.12%. The average plant height at 5 weeks after planting was 117.55 cm with an average number of leaves was 8.5.

Abstract

ABSTRACT : This research aims to identify the diversity of morphological characteristics of several sweet potato accessions cultivated by communities in the two tribes in the Kaimana Regency. The research was carried out in the Lower Arguni District in 5 villages (Coa, Afu Afu, Wetuf/Sawi, Kufuryai, Wermenu) inhabited by the Irarutu and Dani tribes (a local tribe from Wamena). The research used descriptive methods with survey, observation, and interview techniques. The research location was determined deliberately (purposive sampling) based on the local tribe population. The sweet potato in each village was also determined deliberately (purposive sampling) based on the number of accessions and different morphological characteristics. Observation of morphological characteristics included the morphology of stems or tendrils, leaves, and tubers. Data analysis was carried out using cluster analysis with pro- gram NTSYS-pc version 2.0. The morphological character similarity coefficient used is the simple matching coefficient. The research results showed that there was morphological diversity in 26 sweet potato accessions cultivated in five villages by the Irarutu and Dani tribes from Wamena. Diversity in morphological characteristics occurs in the characteristics of tendrils/stems, leaves, and tubers. Based on the results of the grouping analysis, the coefficient of similarity in morphological characteristics of the 26 sweet potato accessions was between 0.41 and 1, which means that the similarity in morphological characteristics was between 41% and 100%. The 26 sweet potato accessions were not grouped based on the village where they were grown but were grouped randomly. At the lowest similarity in morphological characteristics, namely 41%, 26 accessions were grouped into two groups, namely: group I consisted of 17 accessions, while group II consisted of 9 accessions. At the highest similarity, namely 100%, there are several accessions that group together, namely AfuAfu-6 and Wetuf-2; Coa-4, Afu Afu-7, Kufuryai-5; and Afu Afu-10, Wetuf-4, Kufuryai-1.
