Abstract

The spread of the Covid-19 virus in Indonesia has an impact on all sectors, and one sector that is currently experiencing a significant impact is the economic sector. Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), is an A-accredited private campus, which now still provides fixed salaries and incentives, there is no reduction even though the spread of covid has an impact on all sectors. Many private campuses in Medan City have reduced the salaries of their employees, and even removed some incentives to reduce the budget used, but not for UMSU which still provides obligations and other incentives. In this case, it means that the welfare of Muhammadiyah University employees is still being considered by the leadership stakeholders, but from the observations made, researchers see a decrease in infaq obtained by LAZISMU Medan City. Therefore, the researchers want to see the relationship between the spread of the Covid-19 virus and the philanthropy embraced by employees of UMSU. The Islamic philanthropy is in form of infaq and alms. The research is descriptive qualitative research, which the results obtained will be described or narrated in accordance with the rules of qualitative research. From the results obtained, that there was a shift in Islamic philanthropy carried out by UMSU employees, this happened only a few months after the outbreak of Covid-19 which spread in the city of Medan.

Abstract

Facebook Fanspage is a feature on Facebook widely used by brands to build their community in cyberspace. Facebook currently has provided a Facebook Fanspage feature where users can upload any type of video, not even a few of the users who get rewards or fees from uploading videos on the Facebook Fanspage page. However, it does not mean that it is without problems, one of the problems that still occurs on Facebook Fanspage is that many cases of copyright infringement on the site, such as the practice of re-uploading for example. The study examines how the validity of income obtained from reuploading activities is viewed from the perspective of ibtikar right in sharia economic law. The research is a type of field research. The results of the research are that it is illegal to reupload videos carried out solely for personal gain without giving royalties to the producer/ related label. In other words, the act is the same as a merchant selling goods belonging to someone else without the permission of the owner. Copyright in Islam is known as the ibtikar right which is a copyright attached to the owner of the original video and part of intellectual property, both material and immaterial. Thus, it must be legally protected. Islam highly respects copyright as a personal property right so that the right of ibtikar is included in the Maqashid Sharia to maintain the existence of property ownership of every Muslim. Every property that results from the act of reuploading videos in Islam is unlawful, because it is included in violating the rights of others. Abstract

Indonesia is currently the country with the largest Muslim population in the world. The total Muslim population of 80% makes an Islamic-based economy possible to expand widely related to fashion, culinary, tourism, cosmetics, and various topics. Currently, the Indonesian government, practitioners, and academics are working hard to improve the performance of the Islamic finance industry. Understanding that Islamic Economics is only related to Islamic finance is too shallow perception. Many other sectors can be developed, including the hotel business, tourism, culinary, fashion, hotel, other topics. However, research related to the sectors mentioned is very minimal. The phenomenon is happening because most Islamic economic research worldwide discusses topics related to the financial sector. The researchers have been interested in discussing the development of research on Islamic Economics at the University of Muhammadiyah North Sumatra (UMSU) for the last four years. The research is descriptive because the existing data is not processed to accept or reject the hypothesis. The sample selection criteria in this study are all UMSU student thesis related to Islamic economics for the last four years from 2017 – 2020. The results of the study found that out of 499 theses, the majority of students’ research was around the theme of Islamic banking, which was 78%, other themes (including MSMEs, e-commerce, Sharia marts) were 6%, the ZISWAF theme and Halal Industry got the same percentage. Namely, 5 – 6%, the Islamic Capital Market theme at 3.4%, the Fashion and Cosmetics theme at 2%, and the Insurance theme at only 0.8%. considering the current research conditions, it is time for the study program to develop Islamic economic research outside Islamic banking.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of internal and external factors on profitability as proxied by Return on Assets (ROA), a study on Islamic Commercial Banks for the 2016-2020 period. In the theory of profitability, there are 2 factors that affect bank profitability, namely internal factors and external factors. Internal factors in this study are BOPO (Operating Expenses to Operating Income), Non-Performing Financing (NPF), Financial to Deposit Ratio (FDR) and external factors in this study are inflation and the money supply. Profitability is one of the most important factors in a company, including Islamic financial institutions, in this case Islamic banks, so that every company must pay attention to the company's profitability ratios. Islamic banks are financial institutions that just started to emerge in the late 90s and have a very high level of competition with conventional banks. For this reason, this study aims to look at the financial performance of Islamic banks in Indonesia through the level of profitability they have had for the last 5 years. The sample selection in this study used purposive sampling method. The sample in this study is the monthly financial statements of Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia in 2016-2020. The data in this study will be processed using SPSS software with multiple regression. The results of this study state that inflation as an external factor does not have a significant effect on the profitability of Islamic Commercial Banks as measured by the Return on Assets (ROA) ratio with a significance level of 0.628 and the money supply has a significant effect on ROA. While the BOPO, NPF and FDR variables as internal factors have a significant effect on ROA.

Abstract

LQ45 Index stocks are liquid stocks with high market capitalization, have a high trading frequency, growth prospects, and fairly good financial conditions, are not volatile and have been objectively selected by the IDX. This research aims to determine the abnormal return of LQ45 Stock Index to the covid-19 pandemic. This research uses even study method with population consisted entirely of daily data from the ten most populous cities in the United States. The result of this study shows that there are significant differences in abnormal returns before and after the announcement of the Covid-19 pandemic by WHO. The announcement of this pandemic is responded to as a negative signal by investors so that information regarding the announcement of the Covid-19 pandemic by the WHO is responded to early and at the time of launching the information no longer had any effect because the prices had moved towards equilibrium. The future research that extend the research time period and include other external factors such as lockdown policies or inflation is needed as the limitation in this research.
