Abstract

The rapid expansion of social media has transformed the way public figures market products and engage with audiences. This study explores how Pinkan Mambo’s personal branding strategy on social media shapes consumer perceptions of Donat Pinkan Mambo. A qualitative case study approach was employed, involving digital observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with six informants. The findings reveal that consistent self-representation, personal storytelling, and interactive communication contribute to consumers’ cognitive understanding, emotional attachment, and purchase intention. The study concludes that personal branding operates not merely as promotional exposure but as a symbolic mechanism influencing how consumers interpret and evaluate products.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the types of content on the Mayor of Palembang's Instagram account and how these posts address environmental issues. This study uses a qualitative methodology involving content analysis techniques. The data sources consist of photos and videos uploaded to the Mayor of Palembang's Instagram account related to environmental issues. Documentation and non- participatory observation were used as data collection methods. The analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the content displayed covers government activities, development, social community, and environmental issues, where environmental visual content is presented through documentation of activities such as community service, waste management, and reforestation that highlight the mayor's direct involvement, thereby building an image of environmentally conscious leadership and encouraging community participation in maintaining the cleanliness and sustainability of the city.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis Dimensi Politik dalam perizinan Klub Malam di Kota Palembang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dimensi politik dalam proses perizinan klub malam di Kota Palembang. Perizinan tempat hiburan malam tidak hanya merupakan persoalan administratif, tetapi juga mencerminkan relasi kekuasaan, kepentingan ekonomi, serta keterlibatan aktor-aktor politik di tingkat lokal. Penelitian ini menggunakan dengan pendekatan kualitatif menggunakan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan meliputi wawancara mendalam, observasi lapangan, serta studi dokumentasi. Informan penelitian terdiri dari pihak pemerintah daerah, pelaku usaha klub malam, dan pihak-pihak terkait lainnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses perizinan klub malam di Kota Palembang dipengaruhi oleh kepentingan politik dan relasi informal antara pengusaha dan pejabat publik. Keterlibatan aktor politik terlihat dalam bentuk intervensi kebijakan, kemudahan atau hambatan dalam penerbitan izin, serta praktik negosiasi yang tidak selalu didasarkan pada ketentuan regulasi yang berlaku. Selain itu, ditemukan adanya ketimpangan akses perizinan antara pelaku usaha yang memiliki kedekatan politik dengan yang tidak, sehingga memunculkan indikasi praktik politik rente dalam sektor hiburan malam. Kondisi ini berdampak pada lemahnya transparansi, akuntabilitas, serta menurunnya kepercayaan masyarakat terhadap pemerintah daerah. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa perizinan klub malam di Kota Palembang merupakan arena politik lokal yang sarat kepentingan, di mana kebijakan publik berpotensi dimanfaatkan sebagai instrumen ekonomi dan politik oleh kelompok tertentu. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan penguatan sistem perizinan yang transparan, peningkatan pengawasan publik, serta reformasi birokrasi guna memastikan bahwa kebijakan perizinan berjalan adil dan berpihak pada kepentingan masyarakat luas.

Abstract

Pacu Jalur has developed into one of the cultural tourism attractions that attracts the attention of both domestic and international tourists. In this context, promotion becomes an important element to attract more visitors and promote local cultural values. The Kuantan Singingi Regency Government has a vital role in managing and promoting Pacu Jalur to remain relevant and attractive to the tourism market. The theory used in this study is the Marketing Communication Mix Theory. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive approach, this approach is used because the data used in compiling this thesis are in the form of descriptions, explanations, and information regarding problems that occur in the field or research location. The techniques used in this study are interview techniques, observation techniques, and documentation techniques. Data analysis techniques used in qualitative research include data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The data in this study were tested using data source triangulation. Based on the data obtained from the results of the study of Tourism Communication Strategy in Increasing the Number of Visits to the Pacu Jalur Tradition as a cultural tourism attraction that the Department of Tourism and Culture uses social media as a form to introduce and increase visits from Pacu Jalur tourists as a Cultural Attraction. In addition to utilizing social media, the Department of Tourism and Culture also employed strategic outreach and involved community leaders and the surrounding community in the preparation and implementation of the Pacu Jalur program. The Department of Culture faced several significant obstacles. One of the main obstacles was limited infrastructure and access to information in several areas, particularly in rural areas where internet and digital media networks were not yet fully accessible. This resulted in uneven distribution of promotional information and a suboptimal reach for all levels of society. Furthermore, other challenges faced were limited promotional budgets and human resources with a professional understanding of digital-based communication strategies.

Abstract

This thesis will focus on the role of content on the hashtag of #WenanamPohon in increasing environmental awareness among Jerhemynemoo’s tiktok followers in Padang City. The hashtag #WenanamPohon is content on social media created by Jerhemynemoo which aims to preserve the environment with a movement to plant 10,000 trees by inviting his followers to participate in the program. The purpose of this study is to determine how the content on the hashtag #WenanamPohon created by Jerhemynemoo on his TikTok social media influences environmental awareness among his TikTok social media followers. The theory used in this study is constructivism theory. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, this method is used to collect data related to the content on the hashtag #WenanamPohon and its impact on environmental awareness. The data used in this study were obtained from the results of in-depth interviews with predetermined informants. The data in this study were tested using data source triangulation. Based on the results of this study, the main role of the content on the hashtag #WenanamPohon in increasing environmental awareness among Jerhemynemoo followers is, first as educational content, this content contains knowledge about the environment. Second as a relationship enhancer, by participating in planting this tree, his followers establish relationships with each other. Third is to build interaction, Jerhemynemoo in the content with the hashtag #WenanamPohon invites all social media users, both his followers and not, to jointly realize this tree planting program so that his followers are aware of the importance of caring for the environment. Fourth is to build trust, several videos on the hashtag #WenanamPohon explain that every 15 videos shared will become 1 tree seedling to be planted, and Jerhemynemoo realizes this by planting 10,000 trees.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the thoughts of Andreas Harsono in the book My Religion is Journalism and their relevance to strengthening professional journalism in the era of digital transformation. The background of this research is based on the dynamics of digital media development, which has brought significant changes to journalistic practices, such as the rapid flow of information, the increasing spread of hoaxes, and challenges to the integrity and professionalism of journalists. This research employs a qualitative approach using a library research method. The primary data source is the book My Religion is Journalism, while secondary data are obtained from relevant literature such as academic journals, books, and other credible sources. The data analysis technique used is content analysis, which examines the main ideas proposed by Andreas Harsono regarding the fundamental values of journalism, including commitment to truth, independence, verification, and responsibility to the public. The results show that Andreas Harsono emphasizes the importance of integrity as the main foundation in professional journalism practices. In the era of digital transformation, these values have become increasingly crucial in maintaining media credibility amid the overwhelming flow of information. Strengthening professional journalism can be achieved through improving the quality of information verification, mastering digital technology, and consistently upholding the journalistic code of ethics. Therefore, Andreas Harsono’s thoughts in the book My Religion is Journalism remain highly relevant in building and strengthening professional journalism in the face of digital-era challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the branding and promotional strategies implemented by PT Dzaki Anugerah Wisata Palembang in attracting prospective Umrah pilgrims, as well as to examine the supporting and inhibiting factors in their implementation. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, and documentation. The results indicate that the branding strategy applied by PT Dzaki Anugerah Wisata Palembang is carried out through the development of a consistent brand identity, professional services, and the establishment of trust among pilgrims through safe and comfortable worship experiences. The utilization of social media platforms such as Instagram and WhatsApp, as well as recommendations from previous pilgrims (word of mouth), also strengthens the company’s brand awareness and image. Meanwhile, the promotional strategy is implemented through the use of a promotional mix, including digital advertising, sales promotions such as discounts and flexible payment options, personal selling through direct communication with prospective pilgrims, and public relations activities such as religious gatherings and collaborations with religious leaders. These strategies have been effective in increasing public interest and trust in the Umrah services offered. However, the company still faces several challenges, such as competition among Umrah travel agencies and the inability to fully achieve the targeted number of pilgrims.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of the Sub-district Head's leadership communication in building employee work motivation at the Lembah Gumanti Sub-district Office, Solok Regency. The research background is based on the importance of a leader's communication style in creating a conducive work climate, increasing morale, and encouraging the effectiveness of sub-district apparatus performance. The research method used was descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results indicate that the Sub-district Head's leadership communication has a significant influence on employee work motivation. Open, persuasive, and participatory communication can increase employee responsibility, loyalty, and discipline. However, several obstacles were also identified, such as differences in perception, limited communication time, and organizational culture factors that influence the effectiveness of message delivery. This study concludes that effective leadership communication plays a crucial role in building employee work motivation. Therefore, it is recommended that the Sub-district continue to strengthen communication patterns that are more intensive, transparent, and adaptive to employee needs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the discourse strategies of investigative journalism in Tempo magazine’s edition “Main Upeti Izin Tambang” using Teun A. van Dijk’s Critical Discourse Analysis approach. The focus of the study is on how macrostructure, superstructure, and microstructure within news texts construct meanings related to the abuse of authority in mining permit issuance by state officials. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with critical discourse analysis as the method. Data were collected through documentation of Tempo news texts, observation, and a review of relevant literature. The findings indicate that Tempo represents corruption in mining permit issuance as a serious public issue by emphasizing transparency, accountability, and social justice. At the macro level, the discourse of “main upeti” is constructed as a form of power deviation that harms the state and society. At the superstructural level, the narrative is systematically organized through patterns of case introduction, factual disclosure, and the reinforcement of the urgency of corruption eradication. Meanwhile, at the microstructural level, the selection of diction, language style, and rhetorical strategies is used to strengthen criticism of bureaucracy and to build public awareness. This study concludes that Tempo’s investigative journalism functions not only as a medium for information dissemination but also as an ideologically charged social construction that plays a strategic role in shaping public opinion, exercising social control, and challenging the normalization of corrupt practices in the mining sector.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the communication behavior of Pop fans through the NCT Channel community on the Weverse application in Kendari City using the Uses and Gratification theory by Herbert Blumer and Elihu Katz. The communication behavior that occurs in the NCT Channel community on Weverse is not merely a form of simple interaction, but also reflects the social and cultural dynamics within the K-Pop fandom, including the use of language, symbols, or certain expressions understood by fellow fans, as well as how fans interpret messages conveyed by idols or other community members. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews with six informants, and documentation of community activities. The results of the study show that the communication behavior of NCT fans in Kendari demonstrates active participation, where fans not only act as message recipients but also as parties directly involved in the communication process. It also meets their satisfaction in interacting. Activities such as commenting, waiting for updates from members, and regularly watching content reflect strong emotional engagement. In addition, the use of Weverse also fulfills the fans' entertainment, information, and affective needs, creating a sense of satisfaction and comfort in interacting on Weverse.
