Redaksi menerima artikel dalam bahasa Indonesia dan belum di submit atau dipublikasikan pada jurnal lain. Penentuan artikel yang diterima akan melalui proses blind review, di mana reviewer tidak mengetahui identitas dari penulis. Abstract

This study aims to explain the meaning of denotation and connotation in the lyrics of the song To The Bone created by Pamungkas. There are two formulations of problems in this study, the first is how the meaning of the denotation in the lyrics of the song To The Bone created by Pamungkas, and the second is how the meaning of the connotation in the lyrics of the song To The Bone created by Pamungkas. Researchers use descriptive qualitative approach research methods in this study, which aims to find out the meaning of connotations and denotations contained in sentences from the lyrics of the songs sung by Pamungkas. The data collection technique used by researchers is the sentence expression analysis technique. Researchers use semiotic analysis techniques to analyze the data. From the data that has been found and studied, researchers concluded that the meaning of the denotation in the lyrics of the song To The Bone created by Pamungkas tells the story of a man who is very, very fond of a woman where the liking is felt to his bones. In the lyrics of the song To The Bone there is also a connotation meaning, the meaning of the connotation is about a man's liking that is very deep for a woman, Pamungkas also expresses an expression using a sentence in the lyrics of this song "Cause maybe the greatest love of all is whom the eyes can't see" This sentence expresses that as great as love can be seen, love will be much greater if it is not visible, like the love of parents towards their children.

Abstract

Compounding is a word formation process in linguistics which aims to combine two or more morphemes to create new words and terms in a language. This study discusses about the compounding process in the novel Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly. The aims of this research is to describe the morphological process about compounding words and to show the changes in word form, meaning, and word class from this process. The method used in this research is a qualitative-descriptive research method with morphology as its approach. The data collection technique that used is the reading and notes technique. Data analysis techniques used include data condensation, data display, as well as drawing and verifying conclusions. The results of this study included 15 words that past a compounding process, 2 of them did not experience word class changes. However, the form and meaning of each word in general has changed.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implications of speech in a single comedy hosted by Mo Sidik at the Bali Comedy Club event. In this study using the theory of implications according to Horn and (2012)Huang (2014). The research method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method where researchers focus on discussing speech data contained in the single comedy delivered by Mo Sidik. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that the single comedy material delivered by Mo Sidik contained conventional implications, especially in the punchline of the jokes he told. The jokes told by Mo Sidik tell a lot about his anxiety about government policies and his social life which has a fat body.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the types of speech acts that represent a language through the quotes uttered by Taylor Swift on quotetab.com. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, namely by explaining the meaning contained in the utterances in the quotes in detail. The data collection technique was carried out by classifying speech acts based on representative utterances. Through this research, 36 citations were obtained which represented different representative speech acts, and statements were the type of speech act that appeared the most in the data.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the types of sentences in language learning because it can help learners understand how to build and use sentences correctly and effectively. In addition, understanding sentence types can also help enrich vocabulary and sentence structures used in daily communication. In this study, the film "Dora and The Lost City of Gold" is chosen as the subject, and the researcher aims to observe and analyze how each type of sentence is used in the film. By studying the types of sentences used in the movie, the researcher hopes to contribute to the development of film theory and practice, especially in the use of effective and efficient language in building a story. This research uses a descriptive qualitative research method used to analyze qualitative data and describe it in detail. The data collection technique used is the basic listening method followed by more advanced note-taking techniques. The syntactic approach in language is used to study the structure and pattern of sentences, clauses, phrases, and words in a language. The collected data were analyzed through qualitative analysis techniques, which involved data compaction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification. The results of this study reveal that there are five types of sentences used in the movie "Dora and The Lost City of Gold", namely affirmative sentences 4 data, negative sentences 14 data, interrogative sentences 6 data, imperative sentences 8 data, and exclamation sentences 2 data.

Abstract

This research discusses the chess opening sign system in the novel The Queen’s Gambit by Walter Tevis. The main signifier is the chess opening, the signified of which is strategy and defense in facing and anticipating the opponent's attack to win. The other sign elements in chess opening are The Queen’s Gambit and Sicilian Defense. The signifier is The Queen’s Gambit and the signified is a chess opening strategy by moving the pawn in front of the king to the fourth square to be temporarily sacrificed so that the queen can move at the start of the game. Next is the Sicilian Defense as a signifier. The signified of the Sicilian Defense is an aggressive chess opening where white attacks on the wing of the black king of pieces and black will counterattack on the white minister's wing. The characteristic of the signification is arbitrary where there is no natural relationship between the formal form of the signifier and the concept of the meaning of the signified.

Abstract

Ecranization is a process of appointing a novel into a film. Therefore, this study aims to discuss the process of ecranization of Howl's Moving Castle novel by Diana Wynne Jones, where there is a process of change in the plot in the form of reduction, addition, and variation. This research is a qualitative research using comparative descriptive research method. The data sources are from the novel Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones and from the film Howl's Moving Castle. In addition, this research uses an intertextual approach in understanding and comparing plots in the novel Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones and the film Howl's Moving Castle. In this study there were changes to the plot in the form of 5 reduction processes, 1 addition process, and 2 variation processes.

Abstract

Sukuraga Puppet is a typical Sukabumi art that combines various aspects of art ranging from visual arts, music, puppet theater and literature. This Puppet Sukuraga does not refer to most puppet literacy like the Ramayana and Mahabarata traditions. Having a unique story, being a Sukuraga Puppet has its own cultural value, but unfortunately the existence of this Sukuraga Puppet is still not known by the residents, that's why research is to find out how many people do not know about Sukuraga Puppet and what causes it. This research is a research using quantitative research methods. The data collection process originates from a questionnaire addressed to thirty respondents.

Abstract

Wayang is a traditional Indonesian art that has existed for a long time. In the art of wayang, there are philosophical values contained both in the puppet characters and in the story. Therefore, this study aims to discuss the philosophical values contained in the sukuraga puppet characters. Where in this study the characters to be discussed are the Kudu Lempang and Panangan characters. This research uses qualitative research methods using qualitative analysis, data collection used by interview. In this study there are 2 philosophical values contained in the kudu lempang and panangan characters. The philosophical value of wayang dukurahs is more centered on how humans should use their limbs in accordance with their nature as God's creation.

Abstract

Wayang Sukuraga is a puppet performance accompanied by musical accompaniment. Music accompaniment is one of the main components of the show. This study discusses the various types of musical accompaniment used in wayang sukuraga performances. The purpose of this study is to describe the uniqueness of the musical accompaniment used in the Sukuraga puppet show, which is different from other puppet shows. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method to examine the musical accompaniment in the Wayang Sukuraga performance. Literacy studies from various relevant literature and interviews with the creators of Wayang Sukuraga. The results of this study include two musical accompaniments in Wayang Sukuraga, namely vocal sounds originating from the puppeteer in the form of songs for each Wayang Sukuraga character and traditional accompaniment music, namely gamelan.
