Calakan: Jurnal Sastra, Bahasa, dan Budaya adalah jurnal ilmiah (ISSN:2987-9639) yang diterbitkan oleh PT Al-Ahyan Publisher Sukabumi, yang bertujuan untuk memfasilitasi pemahaman yang lebih baik tentang ilmu sastra, bahasa, dan budaya berbasis penelitian di kalangan akademisi dan peneliti serta bertujuan memberikan kontribusi dan pengaruh positif pada dunia ilmu sastra, bahasa, dan budaya. Calakan: Jurnal Sastra, Bahasa, dan Budaya mempublikasikan artikel kajian empiris dan teoritis dengan cakupan sastra, bahasa, budaya, dan seni. Redaksi menerima artikel dalam bahasa Indonesia dan belum di submit atau dipublikasikan pada jurnal lain. Penentuan artikel yang diterima akan melalui proses blind review, di mana reviewer tidak mengetahui identitas dari penulis. Calakan: Jurnal Sastra, Bahasa, dan Budaya diterbitkan tiga kali dalam setahun yaitu pada bulan Maret, Juli dan Nopember. Abstract

This research aims to describe the depiction of elements of cultural differences and the social environment of Korean-American immigrant families in the film Minari. Regarding different aspects of life in the two countries. The method used in this research is a descriptive method. The collection technique comes from the film Minari by Lee Isaac Chung and references to theoretical studies in research journals. Data analysis techniques begin with data reduction, data presentation, conclusions and verification. The results of the analysis of elements of cultural differences and the social environment of Korean-American immigrant families in the film Minari show aspects that can be compared, namely the language aspect used by Americans and David, who grew up in America, uses English, while his immigrant grandmother still uses South Korean. Different knowledge systems, livelihood systems for Korean immigrants who farm, technology systems used by American citizens and South Korean immigrants, the Yi family, as well as very different religious and artistic aspects. From this research it can be concluded that there are many adaptations that an immigrant must undergo when moving from one country to another, as did Jacob's family.

Abstract

Geisha are traditional Japanese artist-entertainers.  Therefore, this research aims to represent the life of a Geisha in Memoirs of a Geisha movie, using Charles Sanders Peirce’s theory of semiotic analysis, to see the representation of the life of a Geisha in Memories of a Geisha movie.  By using qualitative research that uses descriptive methods.  The results of his research show that the life of a Geisha is not easy, to the point that even before becoming a Geisha someone has to undergo difficult training, Geisha must also be able to have skills such as dancing and playing musical instruments.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the history of side dishes as a Korean dish. The method used in this research is a descriptive method. The collection technique comes from Korean films and dramas and references to theoretical studies into research journals. Data analysis techniques begin with data reduction, data presentation, conclusions and verification. The results of the analysis of how banchan or side dishes became Korean dish culture, starting from ancient times since the kingdom. There is also a reason why side dishes or banchan in Korea use fermented vegetables.

Abstract

This study aims to explore efforts to increase the creativity of early childhood (5-6 years) through lego educational games at KOBER Nurul Huda, Sukaratu Village, Banyuresmi District, Garut Regency. The research method used is classroom action research (PTK) with a qualitative approach. The subjects of the study consisted of 15 early childhood children. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation during the lego game process. Data analysis is carried out through data reduction, data display, and conclusion/verification. The results showed that lego educational games are effective in increasing early childhood creativity. Children show improvements in creative thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and collaboration skills during the lego game process. They also showed high interest and satisfaction in participating in the activity.

Abstract

The background of this study is the expressive language skills of early childhood PAUD Kober Zahrotul Hayar including low so that it requires improvement. The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of expressive language skills of early childhood PAUD Kober Zahrotul Hayar using the storytelling method with image media. The type of research used is Kemmis and Mc Taggart's design class action research. The research was conducted at PAUD Kober Zahrotul Hayar and group B children totaling 10 children became the research subjects. Data collection using observation, document study, and field notes then analyzed using descriptive statistical methods. Based on the results of observations it is known that in the pre-cycle, the percentage of pre-cycle ability the percentage of children's expressive language ability is 49.69% and is included in the criteria for starting to develop (MB). In cycle I there was an increase of 15.62% so the percentage of expressive language skills of early childhood was 65.31% and included in the criteria for development as expected (BSH). In cycle II there was an increase of 26.41% so in cycle II the percentage of expressive language skills in early childhood was 91.72% and included in the criteria for developing very well (BSB).

Abstract

This research aims to describe and explain the language style or majas in the novel The Lady of the Lake by Sir Walter Scott. The research explains the analysis of language styles and shares the types of majas that will be used in the film. The research method used is qualitative descriptive, using semantic approaches and assistance. Data analysis uses qualitative data techniques. Data Source taken from the Novel by Sir Walter Scott. The results of the study explain that there are several language styles mentioned in the novel, namely metaphor, hyperbole, personification, allegory, and paradox.

Abstract

This research explores the theme of power hegemony in George Orwell's novel Animal Farm, focusing on its portrayal of social class. Through a qualitative descriptive research method, the study examines various instances in the novel where power dynamics based on social class are evident. The findings reveal the presence of coercive power and intensive power as forms of hegemony employed by the ruling class. Coercive power is characterized by fear and intimidation, while intensive power involves promising rewards and privileges to maintain control. The research concludes that Animal Farm serves as a vivid depiction of oppression and injustice caused by power imbalances, reflecting the social realities of power dynamics in the real world. The study emphasizes the importance of literature in shedding light on social phenomena and raising awareness about the detrimental effects of hegemonic power structures.

Abstract

Parent’s fanaticims is caused by a high sesnse of enthusiasm and loyalty towards their children. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the fanaticims of parents towards their children as seen in the My Little Pony Friendship is Magic The Series. This research use the theory of fanaticims by Throne and Burner and the sctructural method by Teeuw’s. Based on this theory, this study has the result and show if the parents fanaticms towards their children in the My Little Pony Friendship is Magic The Series can be seen from the character of Rainbow Dash’s parents and can be categorized into 3 characteristic froms of involvement such us internal, external and the ownership of goods. These three characteristic are the reason for the tenuos relationshi[ between the character Rainbow Dash and her parents.

Abstract

Practical use of mathematics in the daily lives of elementary school (SD) children. Practical Mathematics is a branch of mathematics that focuses on applying mathematical concepts to solve practical problems in real life. This research aims to explore how elementary school children can apply Practical Mathematics in their daily activities. Through observations and interviews with a number of elementary school students, this study identified various situations in which children use practical mathematics skills, such as calculating pocket money, measuring cooking ingredients, reading activity schedules, and so on.

Abstract

The purpose of thematic learning in this elementary school environment is to provide and have distinctive characteristics that distinguish it from alternative educational approaches. The age group of school-age children, usually ranging from 6 to 12 years, is commonly referred to as the school period, indicating the transition from kindergarten to formal school. This phase is recognized as the appropriate period to acquire knowledge, given the child's emerging drive for achievement, although mainly through engaging in fun activities. Called the maturity period for school, this stage reflects the child's desire to acquire new competencies, which are ready to be offered by educational institutions. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Primary school children exhibit different characteristics, including natural curiosity and interest in their environment, a preference for fun activities, a tendency to explore and engage in new experiences, susceptibility to emotional influences that drive their actions, an aversion to dissatisfaction and failure, a tendency to learn effectively in a conducive environment, and a preference for learning through active participation, observation, initiative taking, and peer teaching.
