Calakan: Jurnal Sastra, Bahasa, dan Budaya adalah jurnal ilmiah (ISSN:2987-9639) yang diterbitkan oleh PT Al-Ahyan Publisher Sukabumi, yang bertujuan untuk memfasilitasi pemahaman yang lebih baik tentang ilmu sastra, bahasa, dan budaya berbasis penelitian di kalangan akademisi dan peneliti serta bertujuan memberikan kontribusi dan pengaruh positif pada dunia ilmu sastra, bahasa, dan budaya. Calakan: Jurnal Sastra, Bahasa, dan Budaya mempublikasikan artikel kajian empiris dan teoritis dengan cakupan sastra, bahasa, budaya, dan seni. Redaksi menerima artikel dalam bahasa Indonesia dan belum di submit atau dipublikasikan pada jurnal lain. Penentuan artikel yang diterima akan melalui proses blind review, di mana reviewer tidak mengetahui identitas dari penulis. Calakan: Jurnal Sastra, Bahasa, dan Budaya diterbitkan tiga kali dalam setahun yaitu pada bulan Maret, Juli dan Nopember. Abstract

Discrimination is often directed at groups or individuals based on attributes they cannot change, such as gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or social status. Gender discrimination is one of the social issues that has become a major concern in various fields of study, including in the field of literature. This study aims to analyze and identify various forms of gender discrimination in the novel The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. The research method used is qualitative-descriptive with an objective approach. The data collection technique is carried out through reading and recording techniques. The results of the analysis show that gender discrimination in this novel can be identified in five main forms: marginalization, subordination, stereotyping, violence, and double burden. Marginalization can be seen through the treatment of women as objects of reproduction, subordination through power hierarchies that place women in a lower position, stereotypes through derogatory views of women's abilities, violence through physical and psychological control, and double burdens through the dual roles that women must play without adequate support. This research provides insight into the social and cultural dynamics that affect women's lives, as well as increasing public awareness of gender issues that are often hidden in daily life.

Abstract

This reseacrh aims at describing sign system in Sundanese snack traditional food. The sign system describes signifier and signified in snack food of kiripik, combro, misro, katimus, colenak, sukro, sampe goreng, and cilok. Signifier refers to food name dan signified relates to food concept. Research method applied qualitative descriptive by using data collection technique of active observation and in-depth interview. The data taken from Sundanese snack traditional food. The result research shows food sign system cannot be separated from signifier that explains form and signified explains concept or Sundanese traditional food meaning. Naming of snack food has arbitrary or non-arbitrary system. Arbitrary means signifier is created randomly and non-arbitrary, signified is created associatively

Abstract

Students' intelligence is a critical aspect in the context of modern education that affects the holistic development of individuals. This paper explores the different dimensions of student intelligence by integrating Islamic perspectives and modern theories, such as the Multiple Intelligences theory by Howard Gardner. The discussion began by defining intelligence as the ability to understand and solve problems, as well as analyzing the types of recognized intelligence, including linguistic, logical-mathematical, visual-spatial, kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalist. Factors that affect the development of students' intelligence, such as family environment, formal education, social experience, and religious values, are also discussed in depth. The approach in this paper includes an emphasis on how Islam views intelligence as a gift that must be managed wisely and used for the good of individuals as well as society. Strategies to develop students' intelligence, which include the recognition and strengthening of various types of intelligence and the application of Islamic values in education, are also considered as part of efforts to form strong character and good morals in students.

Abstract

This type of research uses a qualitative descriptive method. Analysis of the data obtained is in the form of words, images, or behavior and is not expressed in the form of numbers or statistical figures, but by providing an explanation or description of the situation or conditions studied in the form of a narrative description. The subject of this research is Ratih Kumala the author of the novel Gadis Kretek and Kamila Andini and Ifa Ifansyah as serial film directors Gadis Kretek. Researchers have a role starting from the planning, implementation and reporting stages of research results. The research carried out was research in the form of novel texts and serial films. To make it easier for researchers to carry out research, an analytical instrument was prepared as a guide for data collection. The results of this research are a form of transformation of female characterizations in the novel Gadis Kretek Ratih Kumala's Works and Film Series Gadis Kretek The work of Kamila Andini and Ifa Isfansyah and knowing the forms of gender injustice in their novels and film series.

Abstract

The learning cycle 7E learning model is one of the learning models that allows students to optimize their way of thinking, searching, finding, and explaining the concepts that have been learned. This study aimed to determine the effect of learning models on the ability to write news texts in class VIII, students of MTs Nurul Falah Talagahurang school, the year 2024/2025. This research method uses a quantitative method of experimental type. Data analysis using one group design, and IBM SPSS Statistics T-test. Research results Based on the pretest value, an average value of 53.05 was obtained with a low category, and the posttest results after treatment were 72.90 with a good category. The results of the Paired Sample T-test hypothesis, got a Sig value, of 0'001 <0.05 which showed that there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results, then the results of the t-count value of 13.976> t-table 2.093 the t-count value is greater than the t-table so that the Ha hypothesis is accepted. Shows that there is an influence of the use of the learning cycle 7E learning model on the ability to write news texts for students.

Abstract

Differentiated learning, also known as differentiated instruction, is a learning approach that embraces, supports, and recognizes the diversity of students in their learning processes. The implementation of this approach focuses on addressing the needs of individual students. Differentiated products, on the other hand, refer to the final outcomes of learning that demonstrate students' knowledge, skills, and understanding after completing a unit of study or even an entire chapter or semester. The aim of this research is to determine the impact of the differentiated product learning strategy on the ability to write news texts in the Indonesian language subject for seventh-grade students at SMP Islam Fathia Sukabumi. This study employs a quantitative experimental research method, utilizing a one-group design and T-Test Statistics for data analysis. Based on the pretest results, the average score was relatively low at 69.40, while the posttest results after the treatment showed a significant improvement with an average score of 89.96. The statistical testing using the T-test on the posttest scores indicated that the calculated t-value (9.20) was greater than the t-table value (2.096), with a significance level of 0.05 and a degree of freedom (df) of 23. Therefore, the calculated t-value was higher than the t-table value, leading to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Ha). This indicates that the differentiated product learning strategy has a positive effect on students' ability to write news texts.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of using audio-visual learning media on the advertising writing skills of class VIII SMP IT Sunan Gunung Jati students. The type of research carried out is quantitative research. Through 3 stages, namely starting from the Pretest in the form of giving skills tests, treatment in the form of applying the use of audio visual learning media and Posttest in the form of giving skills tests again. The data collection tool uses a Skills Test. The research results showed that students' advertising writing skills test scores at the pretest stage obtained an average percentage of 56.30% and continued at the posttest stage obtained an average percentage of 87.96%. These data show that the effectiveness of using audio-visual learning media can improve students' advertising writing skills in class VIII SMP IT Sunan Gunung Jati.

Conflict is an opposition that occurs between individuals or groups, an event can lead to a conflict, as well as a conflict can lead to events as a result. The purpose of this study is to describe the conflict that occurs in the character Elena in the novel Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. With descriptive qualitative as the research method. In this study the authors chose data collection techniques, including the technique of listening and recording. As for the data analysis technique through three processes, the data reduction process, then the presentation of data and the final stage, namely the conclusion. The results of this study show that the conflicts that occur to Elena's character are divided into internal and external conflicts involving several supporting characters.duals or groups, an event can lead to a conflict, as well as a conflict can lead to events as a result. Abstract

The research aims to describe the depiction of violence that occurs in the novel Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive with an objective approach. The theory of violence used in this study is Robert F. Litke's theory, with the dimensions of personal and institutional violence in the form of physical and the dimensions of personal and institutional violence in the form of psychology. The results of the study explain that the description of violence contained in Jane Eyre's novel in this study is (1) personal violence in the form of physical, behavior that causes pain or injury and death. (2) Personal violence of a psychological nature, such as those committed by Mrs. Reed, Mr. Blackhurst, Rochester, Celine and Bertha Mason, crimes committed by the father and sister of Rochester and the Masons against Rochester. Non-physical/psychological violence is carried out by means of character assassination and swearing. (3) Institutional violence with physical violence, occurs in school institutions by providing inappropriate feeding to students at Lowood schools. (4) Institutional violence in the form of psychological, the occurrence of a business marriage carried out by two families of Mr. Rochester and the Mason family which has an impact on the lives of Mr. Rochester and Bertha Mason.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the depiction of social discrimination in the novel A Wrinkle In Time by Madeliene L'Engle from the conflict experienced by the main character. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative and objective approach, with data collection methods of listening, reading and observing. The discrimination depicted in the novel A Wrinkle In Time includes direct discrimination and indirect discrimination. The results of this research describe social discrimination and its influence on changes in the personalities of Meg Murry and Charles Wallace.
