Abstract

This study stems from the need to understand the potential of Moyo Dance as a medium for acculturating Christian values within the cultural context of the Nias community. Moyo Dance, with its cultural elements such as movements, song lyrics, costumes, musical instruments, and folklore, reflects universal values that resonate with the teachings of the Gospel. This research aims to reinterpret these elements in the light of contextual theology. The method employed is library research, with data collected through literature reviews of books, journal articles, and relevant documents. The data were analyzed using a contextual hermeneutic approach, specifically the anthropological model of Stephen B. Bevans. The findings reveal that cultural elements in Moyo Dance can be integrated with Christian values such as love, sacrifice, courage, and joy, creating harmony between faith and local culture. These findings underscore the importance of contextual theology in fostering relevant and authentic spirituality.

Abstract

The tradition of providing meals during worship is part of a religious culture aimed at strengthening social relationships and expressing gratitude to God. However, for impoverished women, this tradition can become a financial and emotional burden. This study aims to examine the negative impacts of this tradition, particularly on women facing economic challenges, with a focus on the cultural, religious, and social pressures they experience. The research was conducted in Jemaat Batu Karang Ombuli, a local church in Banggai Kepulauan Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. The study employed a quantitative method with a survey approach involving 95 female respondents. The results show that respondents experience significant pressure. Most respondents (average score: 3.27) agreed that communal meals are an entrenched tradition, making them feel obligated to participate. Additionally, shared meals are understood as an expression of gratitude to God (average score: 3.47), even though financial constraints often pose challenges. Social pressure was also felt quite strongly (average score: 2.93), with a sense of shame being prevalent when respondents fail to provide meals. This study highlights that a tradition intended to foster solidarity instead creates burdens for vulnerable groups. Recommendations are provided for the church to develop more inclusive practices, emphasizing voluntary participation and solidarity without financial pressures, to preserve genuine values of togetherness.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low active engagement and learning outcomes of students in Christian Religious Education (CRE) due to the use of conventional teaching methods, which tend to be passive. The aim of this study is to analyze collaborative learning strategies as an alternative to improving students' learning outcomes, particularly in understanding the teachings of Jesus Christ. This research employs a literature review method. Data were collected from scholarly journals, academic books, and other relevant documents, and analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that collaborative learning enhances students' understanding of the teachings of Jesus Christ, strengthens social skills such as teamwork and empathy, and creates a more interactive learning environment. This strategy is effective in integrating collective reflection and group discussion, enabling students to explore the meaning of religious teachings more deeply.
