Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of social media use on the communication patterns of adolescents in Muara Binuangeun Village, Wanasalam District, Lebak Regency. Social media has become an essential part of adolescents’ lives and plays a significant role in shaping the way they interact and communicate. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving 15 adolescents who actively use social media. Informants were selected using purposive sampling based on the criteria of being 17–23 years old and actively using social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. Data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model, which includes data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that social media has transformed adolescents’ communication patterns from face-to-face interaction to more flexible and rapid digital communication. WhatsApp emerged as the most frequently used platform for daily communication activities. Positive impacts include easier communication, broader social networks, increased access to information, and more frequent interactions. However, negative impacts were also identified, including reduced face-to-face communication, tendencies toward social media dependency, disruption of daily activities, and exposure to negative content and unverified information. The study concludes that social media significantly influences adolescents’ communication patterns, highlighting the importance of digital literacy and guidance from families and communities to ensure its optimal use.

Abstract

The phenomenon of single motherhood has become an increasingly common social reality, bringing various psychological, social, and economic consequences. This study aims to explore the lived experiences, meanings, and challenges faced by single mothers in early adulthood in Kadujajar Village, Lebak Regency, Indonesia. The study employed a qualitative approach using the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) method within a constructivist paradigm. Participants were selected through snowball sampling and consisted of women aged 20–40 years who had been single mothers for at least one year and had at least one child. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings revealed three major themes: experiences of dual roles, meaning-making of single motherhood, and challenges and coping strategies. The results indicate that single mothers face substantial burdens as both primary caregivers and family breadwinners, resulting in economic, social, and emotional pressures. Nevertheless, participants were able to construct positive meanings from their experiences through self-acceptance, increased independence, and a strong sense of responsibility toward their children. Coping strategies included family support, spiritual strengthening, and efforts to achieve economic self-reliance. The study concludes that the experience of becoming a single mother in early adulthood represents a process of self-transformation that fosters resilience, personal growth, and the development of a new identity in coping with life challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the public relations (PR) strategy in increasing prospective student interest at SMK Negeri 1 Gunungkencana. The research employed a qualitative approach within a constructivist paradigm. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Research informants consisted of the Principal, Head of Public Relations, Head of the Accounting and Financial Institution Program, and Head of the Automotive Engineering Program. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the school's public relations strategy was implemented through four main stages: identifying opportunities and problems, program planning, communication implementation, and program evaluation. The strategies included strengthening the school image through the “SMK Kencana Kemilau” branding, conducting promotional visits to junior secondary schools, utilizing social media and the school website, developing entrepreneurship programs, and establishing partnerships with business and industrial sectors. The most attractive public relations program for prospective students was the Industrial Work Practice (Prakerin) program, as it provided real-world work experience and opportunities to obtain competency certificates from partner companies. The study also found that the school's primary opportunities included its strategic location, an accreditation status, and qualified human resources. Meanwhile, the major challenges were increasing competition among schools, limited public understanding of vocational education, and certain infrastructure constraints. This study concludes that a well-planned public relations strategy, supported by flagship programs and effective communication media, plays a significant role in building a positive school image and increasing prospective student enrollment interest.
