Abstract

The study titled Design of a Gasix Go-Kart Prototype as a Learning Medium for Electric Motor Systems in the Electric Vehicle Technology Course at PGRI Yogyakarta University aims to develop and evaluate instructional media for electric motor system learning at the UPY PVTO Lab. The objectives of this research are: (1) to produce appropriate and feasible learning media for electric motor systems used in the Electric Vehicle Technology course, (2) to determine the effectiveness of the developed media in supporting student learning, and (3) to identify obstacles encountered during the design process of the Gasix Go-Kart–based learning media. This study adopts the Four-D (4D) development model—Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate—introduced by Thiagarajan, Semmel, and Semmel (1974). The research was conducted at the UPY PVTO Lab with 10 students as participants. Data were collected using interview guidelines and questionnaires, including assessments from media experts, material experts, and student response questionnaires. The results show that the designed learning media meet feasibility standards. Material expert validation yielded a score of 88%, while media expert validation reached 76%, placing the product in the “appropriate for use” category. Furthermore, student response tests indicate that the media are highly effective, achieving an 82% score categorized as “very effective.” Challenges encountered during development relate primarily to time constraints and the selection of target respondents. Time limitations affected stages such as design, production, validation, dissemination, and evaluation. Meanwhile, determining suitable respondents required careful selection to ensure alignment with the research objectives and characteristics needed for accurate feedback.   Keywords: media, electric motor system, Gasix gokart, electric vehicle technology.

Abstract

Rapid technological advances in the automotive field have led to improvements in vehicle engine performance and efficiency. One crucial factor that supports engine performance is the lubrication system. The right viscosity value will help the lubrication process run optimally, reduce friction between components, and prevent premature damage to the engine. Fuel efficiency in motorcycles is a major concern for users because it is directly related to daily expenses. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of lubricant viscosity on fuel consumption in the Mio Sporty. The methods used are literature study, observation, experimentation or testing, and documentation. After conducting several experiments using lubricants with different viscosities, it was found that the higher the viscosity, the more fuel was consumed. This is due to greater internal engine friction, which requires more power to maintain rotation, thereby impacting fuel efficiency. The conclusion is that the higher the oil viscosity, the greater the fuel consumption.   Keywords: oil viscosity, fuel consumption.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the innovation of a horizontal corn hammer mill machine as a technology to support the improvement of efficiency and quality in livestock feed production. The study used an applied experimental design with a quantitative approach to assess the technical performance of the machine. The treatment variables included variations in rotor speed and hammer design, while the response variables included production capacity, electricity consumption, and particle size distribution of the milled product. The study was conducted on a small to medium production scale using dry shelled corn as feed raw material. Data collection was carried out through controlled machine performance testing, then analysed descriptively and quantitatively by comparing the average values of each performance parameter. The results showed that the horizontal corn hammer mill machine with a driving power of 5.5 HP and a rotation speed of 2500 rpm was capable of achieving a production capacity of up to 300 kg/hour with a relatively compact machine design. The machine demonstrated competitive efficiency compared to similar machines and was able to produce more uniform corn particle sizes, which contributed to improved physical feed quality. The integration of machine design, material flow control, and appropriate operational parameters made this technology applicable and potentially widely applicable in small to medium-scale livestock feed businesses. Keyword: hammer mill, animal feed production, particle size, corn grinding

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of deep learning supervision at SMK Negeri 1 Karangawen as a strategy to enhance the quality of teaching and teacher professionalism. The study is grounded in the government’s policy on the adoption of the deep learning approach within the Merdeka Curriculum, which emphasizes the development of critical thinking, collaboration, and contextual understanding among students. A qualitative case study design was employed, involving 63 teachers across three vocational programs: Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, and Fashion Design. Data were collected through pre-teaching interviews, classroom observations, and post-teaching interviews to provide a comprehensive understanding of how deep learning supervision was implemented. The findings indicate that the supervision activities had a significant positive impact on improving the quality of instructional practices. A total of 52 teachers (82.5%) achieved an Excellent category, 8 teachers (12.7%) were rated Good, and 3 teachers (4.8%) were rated Fair, with none in the Poor category. The supervision process enhanced teachers’ abilities in planning, executing, and reflecting on deep learning-based instruction, while also fostering a culture of collaboration and reflective practice among educators. In conclusion, deep learning supervision effectively improves teacher professionalism and the quality of vocational education. The results of this study are expected to serve as a reference for developing more adaptive supervision models aligned with the demands of 21st-century learning in vocational schools. Keywords: Instructional supervision, deep learning, vocational education, teacher professionalism, vocational school

Abstract

This study aims to determine the fuel consumption efficiency of Pertalite, Pertamax, and Pertamax Turbo in a Toyota 5K engine with two ignition systems, namely the conventional system and the CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) system. The test was conducted at a constant engine speed of 1500 rpm for 5 minutes, with the engine mounted on an engine stand without a charging system (alternator), causing the battery voltage to decrease over time. The CDI system, which depends on stable voltage, showed incomplete combustion results when the voltage decreased, while the conventional ignition system was still able to work properly. The results of the study show that conventional ignition systems are more efficient than CDI in terms of fuel consumption. The lowest fuel consumption was recorded when using Pertamax Turbo with conventional ignition (130 ml), while the highest consumption occurred when using Pertalite with CDI ignition (160 ml). The largest difference in consumption occurred with Pertamax Turbo fuel, at 13 ml between the two ignition systems. These results indicate that fuel efficiency is influenced by the suitability of the ignition system to electrical conditions and fuel characteristics.   Keywords: Toyota 5K engine, CDI ignition system, and conventional ignition.
