Abstract

This study aims to revive the spirit and awareness of reading the Qur’an correctly (ṣaḥīḥ) in accordance with riwāyah mutawātirah through the talaqqi program at Pesantren Islam Ittihadul Muwahidin, Pati. The background of this research stems from the varying abilities of female students in reading the Qur’an, where errors in tajwīd, makhārij al-ḥurūf, and the characteristics of letters were still found. The research method employed is qualitative with an observational approach and narrative analysis through ḥalaqah activities. The implemented programs include “Easy and Enjoyable Tahsin” and “Intensive Tahsin Workshop with Sanad” standardized by the riwāyah Ḥafṣ ‘an ‘Āṣim. The results show an improvement in the quality of students’ recitation, indicated by the majority achieving grades ranging from good to mumtāz in evaluations. In addition, the talaqqi method proved effective in fostering learning motivation and creating a conducive learning atmosphere. This study concludes that the application of talaqqi can serve as an important means of improving Qur’anic recitation while also building students’ awareness to continuously love the Qur’an.

Abstract

The rapid rise of social media has reshaped communication patterns within modern families, significantly influencing how parents and children interact in their daily lives. While social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and WhatsApp provide convenience, entertainment, and a sense of connectedness, they have also contributed to a growing communication crisis within households. Many children increasingly engage with their digital devices, while parents similarly divide their attention between family responsibilities and online activities. This shift reduces face-to-face interactions, weakens emotional bonds, and widens generational communication gaps. This study analyzes the communication crisis caused by excessive social media dominance, exploring its impact on emotional closeness, family dynamics, and conflict emergence. It further examines the social and psychological factors that shape communication breakdowns between parents and children. The findings highlight that miscommunication often stems from digital distractions, differences in technological literacy, and shifting communication styles influenced by online culture. The study offers insights into how families can restore communication harmony through healthy digital habits, open dialogue, parental role modeling, and quality offline interaction. Strengthening emotional bonds is essential to prevent long-term relational damage and to ensure that technological advancement does not erode the foundation of parent–child relationships.

Abstract

The phenomenon of the sandwich generation has become an increasingly visible social reality in the modern era, particularly as individuals face simultaneous responsibilities toward their aging parents and their dependent children. This dual burden places individuals in a unique socio-economic and emotional position where financial obligations, caregiving duties, and professional demands intersect. This study analyzes the multidimensional roles, challenges, and coping strategies experienced by the sandwich generation in navigating work, family, and mental well-being. The research highlights contributing factors such as rising living costs, increasing life expectancy, insufficient financial planning across generations, and strong cultural expectations of filial duty. Findings show that sandwich generation individuals often experience chronic stress, emotional fatigue, and role conflict due to overlapping responsibilities. However, effective time management, social support systems, self-care practices, and the utilization of digital tools can help mitigate the psychological strain. This study emphasizes the necessity of structural support both within families and through workplace policies to promote mental health and enhance resilience among the sandwich generation. Ultimately, strengthening awareness about intergenerational financial literacy, caregiving readiness, and mental-health preservation is crucial in reducing the long-term burden faced by this demographic group.

Abstract

Remedial and enrichment activities in elementary schools are an important step to ensure that every student has the opportunity to learn according to their abilities and needs. Through a literature study, this study summarizes various findings from journals, books, and research reports to capture how the concepts, implementation processes, challenges, and effective strategies of remedial and enrichment are applied at the basic level. The results of the study show that the most decisive initial step is to recognize students' learning difficulties through initial assessments, classroom observations, and portfolio analysis. In remedial activities, teachers need to develop a targeted improvement plan, utilize concrete media, provide guidance in small groups or through peer tutors, and conduct reassessments to see student progress. Meanwhile, enrichment can be provided by identifying students who demonstrate higher abilities, then engaging them in creative projects, mini-research, or interest-based activities that challenge higher-level thinking skills. Teachers play a very strategic role as planners, facilitators, as well as providers of emotional support. In the field, the implementation of these two programs is still constrained by limited time, large number of students, and lack of supporting resources. Therefore, strategies such as differentiated learning, the use of simple technology, and the implementation of project-based learning are recommended to increase effectiveness. This study is expected to be a practical reference for elementary school teachers in developing remedial and enrichment programs that are more adaptive, inclusive, and sustainable.

Abstract

The Tjong A Fie Mansion Museum is one of the most significant Chinese cultural heritage sites in Medan, representing historical narratives, cultural values, and the long-standing process of acculturation since the colonial era. This study aims to analyze the role of the Tjong A Fie Museum in preserving Chinese cultural heritage and to examine how the museum functions as a medium for education, tourism, and cultural identity reinforcement. The research employs a literature review method by examining books, scholarly articles, policy documents, and institutional publications relevant to cultural heritage preservation and Chinese-Indonesian history. The collected data were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative approach. The findings reveal that the museum holds strong historical and architectural value through its combination of Chinese, European, and Malay design elements, as well as its authentic collections that illustrate the socio-economic life of the Chinese community in early 20th-century Medan. The museum plays crucial roles in conservation, education, and socio-cultural representation through the preservation of artifacts, educational programs, and cultural activities that support Medan’s multicultural identity. Additionally, the museum serves as a key attraction in the development of heritage tourism, contributing to sustainable cultural tourism and historical awareness. However, several challenges persist, including limited conservation funding, low engagement among younger generations, and modernization pressures in the Kesawan area. This study emphasizes the need for cross-sector collaboration, digital preservation, area revitalization, and strengthened educational initiatives to ensure the sustainability of the museum as a center for Chinese cultural heritage. Thus, the Tjong A Fie Museum serves not only as a repository of historical objects but also as a symbol of acculturation, tolerance, and the historical identity of the city of Medan.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively analyze the nature of learning and instruction in elementary schools through a literature study approach. The review was conducted by examining various classical and modern learning theories, concepts of 21st-century learning, and the practical implications that emerge within the context of basic education. The data were obtained from academic books, national and international scientific journals, research reports, and various digital publications relevant to the topic. Based on the literature review, learning is understood as a complex process that results in changes in behavior, knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes through direct experience or social interaction. Effective instruction requires a paradigm shift from teacher-centered learning to student-centered learning, where teachers are no longer merely transmitters of information but act as facilitators, motivators, and guides in the learning process. The study also shows that the implementation of 21st-century learning in elementary schools demands the application of instructional strategies that stimulate critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and digital literacy. Learning must be designed to accommodate the developmental needs of children, particularly because elementary students are at the concrete operational stage, requiring real and contextual learning experiences. This study emphasizes that instructional quality will improve when planning, implementation, and evaluation are developed based on a deep understanding of children’s learning characteristics. Thus, this literature study provides a comprehensive overview of the importance of understanding the nature of learning and instruction as the foundation for developing effective, relevant, and sustainable educational practices in elementary

Abstract

This study examines the role of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Hong Kong in the conservation of the Mai Po wetland area during the period of 2013–2018. Mai Po, part of the East Asian–Australasian Flyway and designated as a Ramsar site, faces significant threats from urbanization, climate change, and habitat degradation. WWF Hong Kong implemented an integrated, science-based, and participatory conservation approach, including adaptive habitat management, environmental education, community empowerment, and public policy advocacy. Through programs such as Wetland School, Nature with No Barriers, and Walk for Nature, WWF successfully raised public awareness and participation in environmental conservation. In addition, WWF played a key role as a facilitator of international cooperation for migratory bird conservation across East Asia. The study reveals that WWF’s success lies not only in the technical management of ecosystems but also in its ability to build cross-sectoral partnerships for sustainable conservation. These findings provide valuable lessons for similar conservation efforts in other regions facing comparable challenges.

Abstract

Curriculum evaluation is a systematic process used to assess the effectiveness, relevance, and achievement of educational objectives through analysis of all components of the curriculum, from planning and implementation to learning outcomes. This article comprehensively discusses various curriculum evaluation models used in modern education systems, including research models, goal-oriented models, goal-free models, multivariate mixed models, EPIC models, and CIPP models. Each model is analyzed based on its characteristics, approach, and contribution in providing a comprehensive overview of curriculum quality. Evaluation not only serves as a tool to determine the success rate of a program, but also as a basis for accountability, continuous improvement, and strategic decision-making in curriculum development. In addition to describing various evaluation models, this article also highlights the importance of the competence of evaluators, both internal and external, who have theoretical understanding, accuracy, objectivity, and professional skills in conducting evaluations. The results of the study show that the use of an appropriate evaluation model greatly influences the accuracy of the findings and recommendations produced, thereby improving the quality of learning and ensuring that the curriculum remains adaptive to developments in science and the needs of students. Thus, curriculum evaluation is an important instrument in maintaining the quality of education and supporting the effective and sustainable achievement of national education goals.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of school principals in curriculum development, particularly in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, which requires flexibility, innovation, and collaboration among school stakeholders. School principals have a strategic function as academic supervisors, managers, administrators, motivators, and transformational leaders who ensure that the curriculum is aligned with the needs of students and the local context. Through a descriptive qualitative approach, this study explores the dynamics of principal leadership in the process of planning, implementing, evaluating, and strengthening teacher capacity in developing learning tools. The results show that consistent academic supervision, effective resource management, and collaboration within the curriculum team can improve the quality of learning and the relevance of teaching materials. However, various challenges such as limited teacher competence, digital infrastructure, and bureaucratic barriers still hinder the optimal implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. Efforts such as the formation of learning communities, increased professional training, and the integration of Pancasila values have proven to strengthen the effectiveness of curriculum development. Overall, this study confirms that principal leadership is a fundamental factor in realizing adaptive and sustainable curriculum innovation.
