Abstract

Background: Most workers have not complied with the standard operating procedures in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), apart from the lack of awareness of workers about the importance of using PPE, there are other factors, namely the Arivlas Workshop in Bantul Regency does not have occupational safety and health risk management so that the existing risks cannot be controlled which will cause the risk of work accidents when using machines,  equipment and during the installation process. Method: This study is descriptive with a qualitative type of research that aims to obtain an overview of the analysis of safety and health risks in the canopy making process at the Arivlas Workshop in Bantul Regency. The research subjects were taken by purposive sampling, using HIRADC tools with data collection techniques through observation and interviews. The respondents in this study were 3 workers as the main informants, and workshop owners as key informants. Result: In the canopy making activity, a risk assessment of 20 risks included in the moderate risk category was still tolerable but action or handling was needed so that the risk could be reduced, and 15 high risks were unacceptable so attention was needed to take action or handle as soon as possible. Conclusion: The process of making canopies at the Arivlas Workshop in Bantul Regency has a high potential for hazards and risks to occupational safety and health, the dangers contained in canopy making activities are the dangers of movement, gravity, mechanics, electricity, chemicals, noise, and radiation. With the risk of hearing loss, feet hit by iron, scratches, electric shocks and the risk of inhaling chemicals such as paint and dust from polishing results.

Abstract

The high intensity of the project and stages of work at PT X Ogan Komering, so it requires contractors and subcontractors to operate in the area. Overall at PT X there are 70% of workers from contractors, so work accidents are more prone to occur in contractor workers, so it is important to ensure that contractors prioritize aspects of Occupational Safety and Health (K3). One approach to achieving this goal is to implement a CSMS, which ensures that contractors include OSH aspects in the project being undertaken. The implementation of CSMS often faces challenges, such as contractors' limited understanding of CSMS, for which efforts are needed to overcome these obstacles and prevent errors among workers that can cause incidents. The design of this study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a case study design with data collection from interviews, observations and document reviews. The Contractor Safety Management System (CSMS) consists of 2 Phases, namely Administration and Implementation, in the Implementation Phase consists of Pre-Work Assessment (PSB), Running Assessment (PB), and Final Assessment (PA). In general, the implementation of CSMS has gone well, this can be seen from the availability of SIKA, SIM-L and there is also Safety Induction as a step to minimize the risk of accidents. The supporting and inhibiting factor in the implementation of CSMS is the awareness of all parties involved. If awareness in the implementation of CSMS is lacking, its implementation will be hampered. The implementation of CSMS has been well underway and has succeeded in increasing OSH awareness and reducing work incidents, but it needs to increase supervision and socialization of contractor workers, especially in high-risk jobs.

Abstract

Background: Potential hazards are a threat to the safety and health of workers. Formwork fabrication as a woodworking area to create molds that will be used for the casting process of columns, beams and plates is not spared from potential hazards. Initial observations reveal some potential hazards that are of interest to be further identified. This study aims to identify potential hazards in the formwork fabrication area. The benefit is that it can be the basis for assessing risk and determining appropriate control determinants; Method: This type of research is a descriptive survey with an observational approach. The method used is a Walkthrough Survey with a hazard identification sheet instrument. Hazard identification is carried out based on UURI Number 1 of 1970 and PPRI Number 50 of 2012, namely identifying potential hazards sourced from humans, production materials, equipment, machinery, working methods and work environment; Results: Unsafe action; The use of materials that are large, heavy and have sharp edges; The use of hammers, saws, rotation of grinding blades, sparks, use of electrical connectors is not feasible; Works without structured flows and procedures; Vibration, noise, heat pressure, dust, fecal coliform, mosquitoes, centipedes, unstructured workstation layout, awkward posture, manual handling, and repetitive body movements are some of the potential hazards that have been successfully identified; and Conclusion: Each potential hazard has its own risk that has not been assessed in this study. Likewise, the determinants of its control have not been included in this study. For this reason, further research is needed to assess risks and determine control determinants based on the potential hazards that have been identified in this study.

Abstract

Background: Occupational health and safety was an important aspect in the world of work to get degree of health productively, prosperous and free from work disease. Risk management is required which includes hazard identification, risk analysis, likelihood and consequence, risk level, and risk treatment with Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA). The research location in the unit sarana dipo locomotive PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi VI Yogyakarta it aims to analyze occupational safety and health risks in process of locomotive maintenance. Method: This research used a qualitative descriptive by collect data in the form of words and images. It was due to the application of qualitative methods, in addition to all the things collected will be examined. The approach used to a case study approach by determining in the form of program, activities, or a group of related individuals and this study consists of 6 informants. Results: The results showed in Yogyakarta dipo locomotive unit such as gravity hazard, heat from diesel engine, limited space, noise, oil, heavy work equipment, heavy work media, electricity and dust. In the risk assessment stage there are 2 hazards with extreme risk category, 3 high risk, 9 moderate, 4 low risk categories. Conclusion: The risks from the job of locomotive maintenance were falling from the top of the locomotive, electroucted, pinched, falling tools, exposed to engine heat, exposure form noise, dust, wind pressure, and oil and oil slips. Administrative risk control in the form of Standart Operational Procedure (SOP) and provision of Personal Protectibe Equipment (PPE).

Abstract

Background : UPT Balai Yasa Yogyakarta is a subsidiary of Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) which engaged in infrastructure facilities units and a locomotive repair shop that operates only on the island of Java and is the general workshop that maintain steam locomotives, passenger and freight cars. To anticipate increasing occupational accidents in production workers, in need of research to determine the factors that influence the occurence of occupational accidents in UPT Balai Yasa Yogyakarta. The factors that cause workplace accidents will be investigated views of human factors and environmental factors. Methods: The study was a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were production workers who had experienced workplace accidents by 17 people. The tool used was in the form of an interview guide, observation, and documents. Results: (1) The first is human factors; many workplace accident happen due to lack of understanding of workers, less skilled, less education, physical disability, body position while working less comfortable, not orderly use of PPA, sensitivity of the senses and work beyond working hours resultingin fatigue and productivity employment declined. (2) The second is environmental factors; the workplace is adequate production conditions in the building but not entirely safe for workers. Workplace accidents occur because the tools used are too old, unbelievably disturbing noise threshold, there is a fire in the workplace and the nature of the work does contain potential hazard. Conclusion: Human factors such as labor imbalance (body postures, physical disability, sensory sensitivity), less education (less experience, less skilled), disorderly use of PPA, work beyond working hours and environmental factors such as equipment have been unsuitable, there was a fire in the workplace and the nature of any hazardous ocuupation causes of accidents in UPT Balai Yasa Yogyakarta.
