Abstract

Culture is something that cannot be separated from human life. On the other hand, culture is an inseparable part of humans in their totality. There are various cultures in the world and they are local to certain communities. This is the fact that Christians face in carrying out their mission of preaching the Gospel with various difficulties. However, there are opportunities that can become a way of spreading the Gospel, because cultures have points of contact that can be a way of connecting one another. In that case opportunities for preaching the Gospel can be made possible. The method used in this research is the library research method. The results of this research are that, to carry out the mission of preaching the Gospel in local culture, a Gospel preacher must be able to understand the local language and culture, and be able to contextualize it with the social life of the local community.

Abstract

In general, the customs, traditions and culture of each ethnic group differ depending on the geographical location and the way of life of each. Almost all customs and cultural traditions of each ethnic group become a benchmark for ethics, morals and habits that occur and are always positive according to their ethnicity, although there are some other cultural views that consider it not necessarily positive. For the Dayak Kanayatn tribe, traditions, customs and culture are the most important things in managing daily life. Dayak Kanayatn is very thick with tradition and culture. One of the most feared Dayak traditions is the "baparang or bakayo (cut the enemy head)" tradition, because it is related to supernatural powers. The tradition of “baparang or bakayo (cut the enemy head)” for the Dayak Kanayatn tribe cannot be separated from “Kamang Tariu Traditional Ceremony”. It is said that the story of “Kamang Tariu” can give supernatural powers to Dayak people who are going to “baparang or bakayo (cut the enemy head)”, so that they are immune to machetes, fire, rifles and others. In order for this paper to be accurate, the author discusses it using a descriptive method sourced from the existing literature and also from the results of interviews related to the discussion of this article. Then it will look for correlations from a biblical point of view, with contextual approach using the “Kamang Tariu Tradisional Ceremony”, so that the expected results can contribute to building Christian faith among the Kanayatn Dayak tribe.

Abstract

Not a few people hold leadership positions, but only a handful of people take part as leaders in missionary movements, even though the church has a missionary call that must be fulfilled. It was at this point that Petrus Octavianus appeared in his life and works to show himself as one of the few people whose figure reflects a missionary movement. With his missionary movement, Petrus Octavianus moved across borders to proclaim Christ. The research method used is a qualitative method with a narrative study approach. The results of this research show that a missionary leader can produce works that tend to be unexpected. This is reflected in the experience of Petrus Octavianus as a religious and national figure with a multitude of achievements that have received much appreciation as a manifestation of his theological life journey which was made possible by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Abstract

Education is an important part of the Christian mission because the Lord Jesus himself emphasized it in the Great Commission as a command that must be carried out. This task is for all Christians who are responsible for transmitting God's truth from generation to generation through teaching. The aim of this research is to focus on Christian teachers as a profession and part of all God's people, who are allowed to be preachers and teachers of God's truth to sinners. The hope is that Christian teachers will not only act as professional workers, but more than that they must carry out their missionary duties as a manifestation of God's call to them. The research method used is the library method. The results of this research are that teachers are a noble task because they carry out the main responsibility of the church, namely education as part of the mission. In this regard, the status as a Christian teacher is God's call which confirms his missionary function and responsibility, namely bringing students or students to the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Abstract

Laziness is a lifestyle that no one wants, because it disrupts ethical discourse in the work culture. The aim of this research is to investigate the issue of laziness in relation to the Christian work ethic by referring to the biblical text, namely Proverbs 18:9 which shows a bad precedent for God's decrees for His human creation. The research method used is hermeneutics or biblical interpretation in order to find the meaning of the text for the current context. Related to this, the author uses primary books for exegetical studies, as well as other supporting sources from books and journal articles. The results of this research are that laziness has the potential to be destructive and is contrary to the Christian work ethic which was originally established by God to be passed down from generation to generation in the history of human life. Laziness never brings benefits in any form because its nature is to damage figures that give the image of a lazy character.
