Abstract

This study was motivated by the low motivation and learning outcomes of fifth-grade students in Natural Science at SDN 2 Jayagiri, Panumbangan District, Ciamis Regency. The study aimed to determine the improvement in students’ learning outcomes through the use of audio-visual media in Natural Science learning. This research employed Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles. The subjects of the study were 23 fifth-grade students of SDN 2 Jayagiri in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected through observation, learning achievement tests, and documentation, and then analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive techniques. The criterion for success was established when more than 75% of students achieved the Minimum Mastery Criterion (KKM). The results showed that the percentage of students’ learning mastery increased from 47.8% in the pre-cycle to 56.5% in Cycle I, and reached 95.6% in Cycle II. Thus, the use of audio-visual media was proven to improve the Natural Science learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN 2 Jayagiri. The implication of this study confirms that audio-visual media are appropriate to be used as an alternative instructional medium to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in the topic of whole-number division, as indicated by the large number of students who had not achieved learning mastery and their lack of concentration during mathematics lessons. The study aimed to improve the learning outcomes of third-grade students of SD Al Islam Yogyakarta on whole-number division through the use of straws as a teaching aid. This research employed Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles. The subjects of the study were 15 third-grade students, while the object of the study was students’ mathematics learning outcomes on whole-number division material. Data were collected through formative tests of student learning outcomes. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis by comparing the percentage of learning mastery and the mean scores across cycles. The results showed an improvement in student learning outcomes, with the mastery level in Cycle I reaching 66.67% and a mean score of 82.00, then increasing in Cycle II to 86.67% with a mean score of 87.33. These findings indicate that the use of straws as a teaching aid was effective in improving students’ mathematics learning outcomes. The implication of this study is that concrete teaching aids can be used as an alternative instructional medium to enhance understanding and learning outcomes in elementary school mathematics.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve students’ multiplication learning outcomes through the implementation of the snakes and ladders learning model at SDN 3 Pamalayan. The study employed Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles. The subjects of the study were 16 third-grade students of SDN 3 Pamalayan. The data collection techniques included written tests, observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using qualitative analysis to describe the learning process and students’ participation, and quantitative analysis to determine the improvement in students’ average learning outcomes in each cycle. The results showed that the use of snakes and ladders as a learning medium was able to improve students’ learning outcomes, active participation in group discussions, and create a more interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere. A more significant improvement was found in the second cycle after instructional improvements had been made. The implication of this study is that snakes and ladders can be used as an alternative mathematics learning strategy that is innovative, interactive, and appropriate to the characteristics of elementary school students, particularly in improving their understanding of multiplication and their learning outcomes.
