Abstract

Fords are frequently regarded as temporary crossings as it is expected that they will be replaced by permanent bridging in the near future. However, a properly constructed ford will be more effective than a poorly built bridge due to lack of funding. The main criterion for ford design is the vertical alignment to meet the required safety and comfort in vehicle riding quality. Fords are most suitable for wide rivers with short flooding periods. This paper describes the principals for design and construction of gabion and concrete ford types. The case study evaluation of an actual ford construction compared to the costs of a semi-permanent Bailey bridge and cable-stayed foot-bridge, reveals that the gabion ford is the most economical and efficient solution. Key words : ford/weir/dip, vertical alignment, gabion, gabion ford, concrete ford

Abstract

The Exclusive Stopping Space for Motorcycles is defined as facilities for motorcycle to stop for waiting at signalized intersection as long as red traffic light period. The RHK's has been tested in an arterial road to support the movement of the motorcycle at the signalized intersection. This paper aims to study the influence of the RHKs to reduce traffic conflict, particularly the type and intensity of conflict and also the severity of conflict between motorcycles with another motor vehicle. To test the affectivity of RHKs to reduce conflict, the traffic conflict observations were made with video cameras during the morning and afternoon peak hours, before and after installing the RHKs, and the analyses were carried out in the laboratory. A total of 62 cycles and 41 cycles in the morning and afternoon peak hour with total of 12214 motorcycles and 8873 motorcycles (before and after RHKs installed) were analyzed. The throughput of the intersection increased both in the morning and afternoon peak hours by respectively 11.92% and 12.31%. The conflict patterns changed significantly, but the conflict rate decreased from 133,39 conflict/1000 pcu's to 24,68 conflict/1000 pcu's on the morning peak hour and from 111,10 conflict/1000 pcu's to 24,10 conflict/1000 pcu's on the afternoon peak hour. The conflict severity also decreased from 1.83 tp 1.43 on the morning peak hour and 1.86 to 1.38 on the afternoon peak hour. Keyword : RHK's (ESSM : Exclusive Stopping Space for Motorcycle), motorcycle, traffic, conflict, conflict rate, conflict severity

Abstract

Seismic hazard map in Indonesian bedrock was part of the Indonesian standart descrebing seisic hazard for Indonesia territory and used as one of significant load in structure design. Recent earthquake with big intensity surely can effect the seismic hazard in Indonesia. Therefore, seismic hazard map in Sumatera, Java-Sumba and Kalimantan was developed as part of seismic hazard analysis in Indonesia using the latest data, 3D seismic source model and PSHA-07-USGS software and publicized in this paper. The seismic hazard analysis was refer to Unified Building Code 97 and represnt the 475 year return period seismic hazard map in Sumatera, Java-Sumba and Kalimantan. The result showed that maximum PGA for Sumatera ranges between 0.02-0.65g, Java-Sumba 0.02-0.65g and Kalimantan 0.005-0.2g. All result showed a larger value than seismic hazard map in the than Indonesian Standard (SNI 03-1726-2002). Comparison with the other studies showed a comparative result only in Sumatera, while in Java-Suma and Kalimantan shown a disagree result. Some factors can affect the result, such as seismic data, seismic source model and attenuation function selection. Keyword : Seismic hazard analysis, seismic hazard map, bedrock, 3D seismic source model, attenuation function selection, seismic data

Abstract

Indonesia cities always face transportation problem. The movement in the urban road network needs transportation means, services and infrastructures. Therefore, trip assignment pattrn of urban road network needs to be researched. There are several Trip Assignment Methods which can be used to calculate the traffic volume on each modeled roads. In this paper, two methods of traffic assignments are used, i.e.. All or Nothing and Equilibrium. To find the best method, the predicted traffic flow produced by each model was compared to the real traffic flow collected by traffic counting survey. Traffic flow from 11 links were taken for comparison. These cover the movements on arterial, collector, and local roads. The result showed that equilibrium method gave the best result for the rural network at Kota Cimahi (such as Jl.Ciwaruga-Jl Cibabat, Jl Kol. Masturi-Lembang, Jl. Soreang-Nanjung). Keywords: traffic flow, road network, assignment all or-nothing, equilibrium

Abstract

Multi-channel anaysis of surface wave is a non-destructive seismic test that measures shear wave velocities of soil. This in situ test is a simpler, faster, effiecient, and low cost method comared to other previous seismic method that only uses two receivers. The method is applied in this study uses 24 vertical receivers or geophones of 4.5 Hz to record the propagation of surface waves. Furthermore, the seismic data records are transformed to contruct the phase velocity dispersion curves. As a result, the shear wave velocity (Vs) profile is produced from the inversion process that observes the changes of phase velocity with frequency. Comparison between Multi Channel Analysis of Surface Wave and Standard Penetration Test result is also performed in order to evaluate the reliable and approproateness of Multi-channel Analysis of Surface Wave method. In general, the result show taht shear wave velicities obtained from Multi-channel Analysis of Surface Wave method yield higher values from shear wave velocities from Standard Penetration Test. The deviation of shear wave velocities obtained from this method is less than 20%. The values of shear wave velocities are in allowable range and are relatively in good agreement with Standard Penetration Test result. Abstract

Cold recycling is one of technology alternative which can be prefend in selecting the strategy alternative for road rehabilitation project. Learning about the development technology. we also learn about the weaknesses of it. The pavement assessment condition, which sustain heavy traffic laod in the road trial, has been identified. In order to evaluate the performance of recycling technology, laboratory testing for material properties, mixture as well as field observation have been conducted. The evaluatiins consist of material properties, mixture, construction and pavement performance since the opening traffic until the age of construction in approximately 2 years. The result of laboratory test shows that the mixture strength criteria meet the specification, whereas the field assessment based on functional condition and from structural pavement indicates that pavement performance decreases, this shown by occuring rutting in the some parts of the wheel track. Based from this result, it is predicted that there is a correlation between material, mixture and construction method and pavement service life. The construction method should be developed in the future to minimize early deterioration. This paper describes about the evaluation result for recycling technology with binder material of foam bitumen which have been used in road link with heavy traffic load Jatibarang - Palimanan, Panturan, West Java. Key word : cold mix, recycling, foam bitumen, RFB (Recycling by Foam Bitumen) , pavement performance.
