Purpose: To analysis relationship between anti-diabetic medication adherence and fasting blood glucose level in patients with type II diabetes mellitus. Method: This cross-sectional studied was conducted on 69 patients with type II diabetes mellitus who were recruited used a purposive sampling technique at RSUD Kabupaten Subang. Data collection on adherence anti-diabetic medication was carried out used MMAS-8 and Easy Touch GCU was used to collect data fasting blood sugar levels. The collected data were analyzed used the Spearman's rho test. Result: The findings of this study showed that the average level of adherence to taking anti-diabetic medication was 4.56 and the average fasting blood glucose level in type II diabetes mellitus patients was 176.13 mg/dL. This study founded that there is a relationship between the level of adherence to taking anti-diabetic medication and fasting blood glucose level in patients with type II diabetes mellitus (p <0.001) with a positive correlation coefficient, the greater the medication adherence score, the more normal the fasting blood glucose level, Conclusion: Medication adherence has significantly a relationship with fasting blood glucose level in patients with type II diabetes mellitus. Findings suggest that it is important to adhere to anti-diabetic medication for patients with type 2 diabetes, as it potentially enables patients to deal with their diabetes journey and requires further research.

Abstract

Background: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a kidney disease that is progressive and irreversible and can develop into end-stage renal disease (ESRD) until kidney replacement therapy is needed, one of which is hemodialysis. The condition of CKD patients who undergo hemodialysis will affect the fulfillment of needs, one of which is activities of daily living (ADLs). Purpose: to determine the picture of ADLs in CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis at RSUD Subang. Methods: This research used a quantitative study with a descriptive research design. The sample in this study consisted of 57 respondents using purposive sampling. Activities of daily living data were collected through the Katz index questionnaire and presented using frequency distribution and percentage. Results: The results showed that 49.1% of CKD patients were able to perform ADLs independently, while 50.9% of CKD patients required assistance to perform ADLs, with the range of dependence from lowest (minimal assistance), low, medium, high, very high, and very high (all assisted). Conclusion: The activities of daily living (ADLs) in patients undergoing hemodialysis tend to require assistance to do one's basic physical needs. The inability to perform ADLs may lead to unsafe conditions and poor quality of life. Nurses should be aware of the need to assess ADL in patients to help ensure that patients who require assistance are identified.

Abstract

Background: Women often complain of painful periods before or during menstruation. Plants that are believed to relieve pain include ginger (Zingiber Officinale Rose), whose rhizomes have analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory properties. Purpose: To determine the effect of ginger water therapy on reducing menstrual pain in nursing students. Methods: This research was conducted on nursing students at Politeknik Negeri Subang using a quasi-experimental research design with a pre-post-test design with control group. The stratified random sampling was used with the number of respondents at 30 divided into two groups: a 15-person intervention group and a 15-person control group. Data were collected using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) pain scale. Results: The study found that the mean pre-treatment menstruation pain scale was 5.27 for the intervention group and 4.73 for the control group, and the mean post-treatment menstruation pain scale was 1.93 for the intervention group and 4.00 for the control group. Data analysis obtained a p-value of <0.001 (0.05), indicating that there was an effect of ginger water therapy on reducing the menstrual pain scale. Conclusion: These findings have verified the initial possibility of ginger's efficacy in reducing menstrual pain, although it should be given to women with mild-moderate menstrual pain. We strongly recommend further research with larger numbers of patients on the efficacy and protection of different doses of ginger.

To reduce the incidence of UTI, it can be done by knowing the risk factors that can influence the occurrence of UTI with individual awareness and practicing good habits. Purpose: to analyze the risk factors for urinary tract infection in outpatients. Methods: This research used quantitative research with a cross-sectional design that has been carried out on 89 patients who came for treatment at the Urology Polyclinic at RSUD Subang, using purposive sampling through a questionnaire on risk factors and symptoms of UTI, and then the data was analyzed using multiple linear regression tests. Results: The results of the study found that there is a relationship between age, gender, urinary retention habits, genital hygiene, and drinking habits and the incidence of UTI, with a P-value of 0.000 (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Age, gender, urinary retention habits, genital hygiene, and water drinking habits are risk factors for urinary tract infections both independently and simultaneously. Screening for UTI in outpatients, Geriatric age, female gender, urinary retention habits, bad genitourinary tract hygiene, and less water intake should be adopted.

Abstract

Advances in health technology assist patients with life-threatening illnesses to survive longer, but a longer life does not mean to live better. Patients with life-threatening illnesses experience a variety of physical problems and psychosocial symptoms that affect their quality of life. Palliative care is a type of care that focuses on improving quality of life and alleviating the serious suffering of patients with chronic or terminal illnesses. The peaceful end of life theory developed by Ruland and Moore is one of the theories of care that can be applied. The concept is able to accommodate more holistic management of physical and psychological symptoms in terminal patients in end-of-life care. This theory consists of five main concepts: not being in pain, experience of comfort, experience of dignity respect, being in peace, and closeness to significant others. Applying this theory is not only to provide good care using modern tools but also to focus more on care that prioritizes patient comfort and maximizes family involvement in patient care. So, at the end of life, patients can enhance the quality of life and face death with a sense of peace. A paradigm for peaceful end-of-life care for Muslim communities in Indonesia incorporates Islamic beliefs and the local environment.
