Abstract

Background: Mental disorders are disturbances in thought processes, emotions, behavior and perception due to disturbances in the brain. The presence of mental dysfunction can disrupt an individual's social relationships with other people and can trigger stress for the individual's family members. Thus, family support in the form of care for family members who suffer from mental disorders must be optimal. The family as caregivers plays an important role in accompanying people with mental disorders in living their daily lives. Family support is very necessary for the success of the recovery process for people with mental disorders. However, it is known that the role played by the family is still not optimal, so psychoeducation is needed. Purpose: Increase family knowledge about the concept of mental disorders and how to care for family members with mental disorders in everyday life. Methods: Case report applying the implementation of evidence based practice in nursing care. Results: After implementing psychoeducational intervention to families caring for people with mental disorders for three sessions, the results showed that there was an increase in family knowledge regarding how to care for family members who experience mental disorders. Conclusion: Psychoeducation is one of the interventions that must be given to families caring for ODGJ because family support is very necessary for the success of the recovery process for people with mental disorders.

Abstract

Introduction: Elderly are people who have reached the age of more than 60 years and have experienced natural changes, both physical changes and changes related to the disease process. Elderly people tend to have a higher risk of experiencing degenerative diseases due to decreased body function. One of the diseases that is often suffered by the elderly is hypertension. Management to overcome hypertension can be done non-pharmacologically with complementary therapy, namely a combination of ergonomic gymnastics and music therapy (Serasi). Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of combination therapy of ergonomic gymnastics and music therapy (Serasi) on reducing blood pressure in the elderly. Methods: The research method used is case study method. This intervention was given to 3 elderly with hypertension. The intervention was carried out for 3 days with a duration of ± 30 minutes per day. Data analysis used in this study used the Wilcoxon test. Discussion: Client's blood pressure after being given the intervention decreased with an average blood pressure of 158 mmHg (systolic) and 89.89 mmHg (diastolic). The Wilcoxon test results obtained a Sig. (2-tailed) value for systolic of 0.007 and diastolic of 0.017 where this value is <0.05. There is a significant effect of providing a combination of ergonomic gymnastics and music therapy (Serasi) on blood pressure in elderly hypertensive patients.

Abstract

Introduction: Heart failure is commonly a major cause or significant contributor to mortality. Due to this condition, heart failure patients generally experience hemodynamic instability, which is typically managed with pharmacological therapy. However, to balance the side effects of pharmacological treatments, heart failure patients also need complementary modalities that can help restore hemodynamic stability, one of which is a breathing exercise therapy known as Alternate Nostril Breathing Exercise (ANBE). Purpose: To evaluate the implementation of Evidence-Based Practice by analyzing the effect of Alternate Nostril Breathing Exercise (ANBE) on blood pressure, pulse rate, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation in heart failure patients. Methods: The design of this scientific paper is a descriptive case study with nursing care approach for patients with heart failure. The study involved two respondents with heart failure, both experiencing shortness of breath as the main complaint. Interventions were provided twice daily for 10 minutes over a period of 5 days. evaluation is carried out formatively and summatively. Discussion: The ANBE intervention resulted in a decrease in blood pressure, MAP (mean arterial pressure), and respiratory rate, as well as an increase in oxygen saturation in both patients. As for the pulse rate, results tended to be stagnant when comparing pre- and post-intervention measurements within a single day; however, a decrease was observed when comparing measurements taken before the intervention and on the final day of the intervention. Conclusion: ANBE therapy contribute in lowering blood pressure, MAP, and respiratory rate, also improve oxygen saturation.
