Abstract

Grade VIII students at SMPN 11 Padang have low learning outcomes, which should be an indicator of students' understanding of the subject matter and one of the indicators of student success in mathematics. Comparing conventional methods with the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative model was the main driver for this study. The entire eighth grade at SMP Negeri 11 Padang participated in the study, which used a posttest-only control group design and quasi-experimental methodology. This tool served as the final evaluation. The results of the study led to the conclusion that H0 could not be accepted, as the P-value = 0.000, < α. As a result, the STAD model provided optimal results rather than the more traditional. Keywords– Conventional Learning, Learning Outcomes, Student Teams Achievement Division

Abstract

An important skill in mastering mathematics is the ability to solve mathematical problems. Grade XI students at SMK Negeri 1 Batipuh still have this ability, although in a poor form. The application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model can be used as a way to improve it. The purpose of this study was to characterise the growth of learners' problem-solving skills in mathematics as they progress through PBL and conventional models. A quasi-experiment with nonequivalent posttest-only control group is the core of this study. The sample was class XI TITL 1 and XI TKR 1 at SMK Negeri 1 Batipuh in FY 2024/2025 by simple randomisation. The evaluation tools used were quizzes and final tests. Grade XI students at SMK Negeri 1 Batipuh outperformed their peers in the conventional learning model when using the PBL methodology. In addition, compared to the average quiz results at each meeting, individuals using PBL experienced significant improvement. Keywords– Mathematical Problem Solving Ability, Problem Based Learning, Conventional Model Learning

Abstract

Students of class XI SMAN 2 Padang FY 2023-2024 will be the subjects in this study, which aims to compare the effectiveness of direct learning effect on problem solving ability and PBL model. The research design used in the study is a quasi-experimental design. By using Simple Random Sampling, the sample class was selected. Compared to direct learning, PBL produced better scores on the final exam given to both sample classes. Keywords– Problem Solving ability, Problem PBL, Direct Learning

Abstract

One of the most important skills that students of mathematics are expected to develop is the ability to solve problems. Class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Solok continue to struggle with this area, though. Applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach is one potential move. Our hope is that by following the steps outlined in the PBL model, we can better understand how these abilities develop and, ultimately, if they are more effective than those taught using more traditional methods. It is safe to call this study a pseudo-experiment. Class VIII.H and class VIII.K students from SMP Negeri 1 Solok TP 2024/2025 were chosen as the sample group for the study. As research tools, the final test and evaluation were used. While compared to those who used more traditional learning models, the results showed that the PBL significantly improved performance on all measures. Keywords– Mathematical Problem Solving Ability, Problem Based Learning Model, Conventional Learning Model

Abstract

Students are required to demonstrate proficiency in mathematical communication. Currently, this ability is still considered lacking in class XII of SMA Negeri 2 Batang Anai FY 2024/2025. Inactive learning and inappropriate models are the root causes of this lack of competence. There are many ways it can be used, one of which is using the CORE model which stands for Connecting, Organising, Reflecting, and Extending. This research is a quasi-experimental with posttest only control group. After analysing the data and evaluating the hypothesis, it was proven that students using the CORE model had superior results compared to the conventional method. In addition, the final test scores obtained during the implementation of the CORE model showed significant improvement. Keywords– Mathematical Communication Skills, Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending Learning, Conventional Learning Model

Abstract

This study set out to compare the traditional method of teaching mathematics to one that uses the Brain-Based Learning Model with the goal of discovering whether the former yields better results for seventh graders at SMP Negeri 29 Padang. This study employed a factorial experimental design for its research, which included a pre- and post-test for the control group. Participating kids were seventh graders from VII.2 and VII.3 at SMP Negeri 29 Padang, the school where the research was conducted. The research staff relied on a description-based final exam of learning outcomes as their primary tool. We reject the null hypothesis (H0) based on the results of the hypothesis testing and the P-value that was obtained. When comparing the BBL Model to the Conventional Learning Model, it is reasonable to assume that the former produces better results for students' education. Hence, it is reasonable to assume that seventh graders at SMP Negeri 29 Padang benefit academically from the BBL Model. Keywords– Mathematical Learning Outcomes, Brain Based Learning, Conventional Learning

Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving skills are essential for all students so that they can learn to adapt their approach to more complex problems. However, students still have a modest level of this talent. Applying an open-ended approach in learning is one of the solutions. This study sought to compare the effectiveness of conventional open-ended approach in improving such ability in class XI FASE F SMA Negeri 1 Bonjol. Using Non-Equivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design as its research framework, this study utilizes a semi-experimental approach. Better skill improvement compared to conventional learning is the result of the open-ended method, according to data analysis. Keywords – Open-Ended, Conventional Learning, Mathematical Problem Solving Ability

Abstract

- Students must be able to solve mathematical problems, among other skills, if they are to succeed in mathematics. Grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 3 Batusangkar still have a low level of ability in this regard. Lack of student engagement is the cause. The Problem Based Learning (PBL) model was used as a solution to this problem. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the mode can improve students' abilities. It was also to determine whether the model outperformed the conventional method. Descriptive and quasi-experimental research was chosen. The Pretest-Posttest Nonequivalent Single Control Group design was used for this study. Eighth grade members of SMP Negeri 3 Batusangkar TP 2024/2025 constituted the population.  The obtained P value = 0.029 indicated the rejection of H0, so it can be said that the PBL model is superior to conventional learning, and its use leads to an improvement in the learning process. Keywords– Conventional Learning, Problem Based Learning, Problem Solving Ability

Abstract

This research uses PBL model to analyze whether the problem solving ability in class VIII SMPN 43 Padang is better than conventional learning. This research applies a mixture of descriptive and quasy experiment. Data analysis techniques with t-test, where the data requirements must be normally distributed and homogeneous variance. The findings showed that the average quiz score at each meeting always increased and the score for each indicator increased at each meeting. Each increase that occurs shows that the ability under study is getting better, meaning that there is a development of ability during the application of the PBL model. Furthermore, the results also showed that the group with the PBL model was better than the group given the conventional method. Keywords– Mathematical Problem Solving Ability, Conventional Learning, Problem Based Learning

Abstract

Once a learning process is over, the results are the skills that students have acquired. The results of students' education are significantly impacted by the activities that take place in the classroom. Students in the eighth grade at SMPN 1 Sijunjung continue to have poor mathematical learning outcomes. Applying the PBL model will solve the problem. This research set out to compare the effectiveness of the PBL paradigm with that of direct instruction in mathematics for eighth graders at SMPN 1 Sijunjung. The research methodology that will be employed is known as quasi-experimental research. Class VIII.1 and class VIII.2 at SMPN 1 Sijunjung were selected as the research sample. The two groups of samples were compared for normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis testing using the t-test. At the 5% level of significance, the test findings demonstrated that H0 was rejected with a P-value of 0.002. Students in the PBL group achieved higher test scores in mathematics compared to the control group. Therefore, the PBL method was effective. Keywords : Model Problem Based Learning, Learning Outcomes, Direct Learning Model
